Songs of Survival: Life is a Journey (Book) - 10/13/2009 8:14:06 AM
Very nice. Its amazing to discover the wonders of another writer's mind and see similiarity in a different light that gives you as much pleasure reading as anyother.

I love the excerpt because it is so true. I have the will it is just the execution is somewhat elusive and slow. I love the drawing too showing the different paths and forks in the journey of life. Wonderfully written.
May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie.

Songs of Survival: Life is a Journey (Book) - 10/3/2003 7:58:18 PM
Only the truly wise among us know the three keys to surviving life’s hardships: To grow from these experiences as they teach us beneficial coping skills we can utilize in the future; to set aside arrogance and allow ourselves the comfort that friends and family offer us in times of need; and to embrace the hope that comes from appreciating the good things in life which are still within our grasp.
Barbara Ann Duffy is truly a wise woman. Within the pages of her poetry book, “Songs of Survival: Life is a Journey”, she takes us along with her on the road to survival by teaching us, with her insightful prose, that you cannot taste the sweet of life unless you have experienced the sour.
The most shining example of Ms. Duffy’s uncanny knack for being a student of life as well as a teacher is reflected in her best work, “Juxtaposed”. In this poem, the writer envies those who lead “the good life”. When bad things happen to them, however, Ms. Duffy comes full circle in her realization that in order to live through the worst, one must be able to tap into those reservoirs of survival techniques that can only come from past personal growth.
“Songs of Survival” is at first an emotionally charged roller coaster ride of human suffering, which the author unabashedly and intimately shares with the reader. However, Ms. Duffy is not one for self-pity; rather, she continues offering page after page of hope to the suffering in a message that goes beyond survival to victory. Best of all, she does so in an almost maternal fashion that is comforting and inspiring as well as charming.

Your heartfelt poetry in "Songs of Survival" tells a powerful story of determination and triumph against all odds. Only one writer was ever able to bring tears to my eyes until I read your book of poems this morning. You truly are a survivor with "a warrior's heart", and "the fire of your spirit burns bright."
I wish you "fair traveling" for the remainder of your days.

Sha'Mung and the Great He and She (Short Story) - 7/26/2009 9:37:35 AM
A lovely creation story.
There were a few typos that I noticed in the paragraph toward the end, starting with "ShaÕMung knew..."
Also...how did Logic identify the constellations as animals that didn't yet exist, eh? Just a thought.
Sha'Mung and the Great He and She (Short Story) - 6/8/2009 7:35:40 AM

One of the most tender stories that I have had the privilege to read.

How to Get a Good Book Review (Article) - 2/7/2006 10:01:14 AM
Excellent article, Bobbi! It outlines the dynamics of the business. I am now reviewing two professional authors here on Authors Den after they have asked me to read their works. I feel honored to be able to offer my professional review. I have a formula I use when I review. It is a fun, very exciting process. These reviews mean a great deal to a professional author. Fans do read the reviews. It is a wonderful marketing tool for an author. I saved this article in so that I may refer back to it. It is very helpful to me. Thanks Bobbi.

Good, solid advice, that most writers (sadly, myself included) have a tendencey to say, "Yeah, well most of that stuff doesn't really pertain to me, because my book is SO in tune with the dynamics of . . . blah, blah, blah. Again. Good stuff.

As parents the worst thing in our world is to be helpless when they are hurt or ill, nothing matches the ache or pain that grips our hearts in a steal vise when we have to deal with it.

Momentary Peace (Poetry) - 10/27/2009 3:51:31 AM
I have chronic pain myself (degenerative arthritis); my twin, meanwhile, has back pain (degenerative disk disease, fibromyalgia, pinched nerves in shoulders and neck, sciatic pain in both legs, and arthritis). So we know very well the tune of pain. Not easy to live with, but it means we're still alive! :) Great write, Bobbi Ann; well done!

Intruders (Poetry) - 10/7/2009 3:44:30 PM
I like the way you look at yourself in this...honestly and openly. It is often confusing as to what we should or shouldn't recognize in ourselves. If we are proud then we are accused of being vain, if we are quiet we are accused of being self absorbed, if we stand up for ourselves we are accused of being stubborn and argumentive so yea it is hard to see just what we are...but to believe in ourselves we don't need anyone else...do we?
