Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: Nightmare After The Ordeal (Article) - 11/19/2007 9:29:33 AM
If the "nightmare" goes untreated for years after the event it can cause enough damage that returning to "Normal" becomes questionable.

Depression Series (Part 2): My Antidepressant Doesn’t Work. What Can My Psychiatrist Do?  (Article) - 10/27/2006 1:37:13 AM
Thank you for your article I have read a few that you have wrote. I was diagnosed with Bipolar 6 weeks ago and I think I am diagnosed wrong I was never told I had bipolar ever in my life and I have been in therapy since 1995 I am 41 years old. I was given Lamitcal sorry about spelling. I have been on it for 6 weeks I am not weaning off it because it has made me so weak and made me hear voices and see things and I am so sick I can hardly move. I have Lupus and Fibro and some other auto immune diseases. People get depressed with chronic diseases and it is easy to be misdiagnosed. I am not a DR but I am seeing more and more people being misdiagnosed. I have enjoyed your articles I have read. Thank you for being here. I look forward to reading more. Hugs Angela

Is Dysthymic Disorder a Second-Rate Depression? (Article) - 7/2/2006 3:12:39 AM
As a Psych Nurse I am glad to see that you are making an effort to educate everyone on mental illnesses.. There is way too much misinformation out there that it sometimes frightens me. The increase in use of alcohol and drugs has made mental health workers work tougher and more dangerous... I would like to see an article from the viewpoint of a chemically dependent's family and the toll addiction impose on families. Thanks for informing so many Michael. Sandi

A Sure Way to Fight Stress (Article) - 9/13/2005 11:41:56 AM
Prayer has actually been tested, scientifically. It's been shown to help surgical patients recover more quickly after surgery. Now how about that! I find that praying for all my blessings reiterates just how much I have to be thankful for. I really enjoyed this piece of writing. Thanks.

Emotional Intelligence: The Basics (Article) - 4/9/2005 9:51:27 AM
This article would be useful to those who are emotionally closed off and who have not considered the important role understanding one's emotions plays in leading a healthy productive life. It should also enlighten the confused soul who may be dealing with someone who's emotionally closed off. To those who are in touch with their feelings, the points made in the article may seem obvious, but having lived and worked with those who don't know themselves well and having gone through stressful periods in my own life during which I've neglected introspection, I know many people go through life missing the vital information you've offered here. For instance, in business, some people don't move ahead not because they lack money management and business strategy skills, but because their emotional I.Q.s are low. They don't pick up on the feelings of others and so frequently offend coworkers or are insensitive to their boss' needs and can't be effective team players. Recognizing this as a problem, some businesses schools have started to add more humanities and social science courses to business major curricula to help business majors massage the parts of the brain that handle social skills. :-) Your example of how damaging low emotional intelligence can be in a marriage was excellent. It's interesting to note that being overly emotional is as much a sign of having a low emotional I.Q. as is showing no emotion. ~~Nordette

Panic Attacks: Effective Ways to Cope (Article) - 2/20/2005 6:18:41 AM
Yes, I agree with you, if in fact its only a varigated form of Panic Disorder, sadly though, the treatment is the same for sufferers of ANS breakdown, but if you can be treated successfully for Panic Disorder that terrific. I wrote recently of Autonomic Epilepsy, too often called Panic Disorder. There are some very subtle differences. One feels as though it will kill you, one will. Please read my article! I have lived with this all my life, as have my sibs, father and Grandmother before me... Regards Ch'erie de Perrott

How to Deal with Your Child’s Inappropriate Behaviour (Article) - 2/3/2005 11:25:26 PM
Sir, you have given some real valuable advice. I think focusing on the special and positive things our kids do and spending a whole lot of time doing so is the best prevention. When something happens ignoring can be effective, but even if you address the problem just don't spend a lot of time on it. I hadn't thought to use "granny" signs. Thanks for sharing and best of luck. Mark
