Desert Sunshine (Book) - 8/6/2003 6:25:32 PM
Hey Reece, Sorry it took so long to get back with you but this police business has been busy as you well know. Now about your book. It was GREAT. No kidding, it was one of the most intresting writings I have read. I loved the way you described the COWBOY days. I am a gun nut and love to attend antique gun shows. Your description of the Sharps rifle and the ammunition was awsom. After I read Desert Sunshine, my best friend borrowed it and completly enjoyed it. We walk a couple of nights a week and have had some enjoyable conversations about the story. Maybe someday we will hav ethe opportunity to meet. I know I will look forward to it. Also, thank you for sending the autographed copy. Peace, Chief Jim mantle Country Club Hills Police Department St.Louis, Missouri

Reece, Well the only thing I didn’t like about Desert Sunshine was I did not write it. Having said that, I wanted to let you know I enjoyed your story immensely. I traveled, via the pages, exploring a piece of the old west myself and Midnight was my mount. I think it is safe to say The Lone Ranger has been unmasked and his name is Ed Adair, or “Blue Eyes”. It was a pleasure meeting and speaking with you recently and I wish you continued success with your writing. R. M. Elliott (aka: Roy and Marlo Wood)

Desert Sunshine (Book) - 3/3/2003 1:24:16 PM
This is the first book written by Reece Daniel, and he is to be commended for his effort. The story of a modern day Arizona Ranger going back in time to 1882, where he is again an Arizona Ranger, is a nice twist. I like time travel stories as well as westerns, so this fits the bill. The story is generously laced with good descriptions and attention to detail; the comedy of the main character adjusting to life of over 100 years ago is great. The relationship of Native American spiritualism and Christianity is nicely portrayed, and there is plenty of action, too. I especially liked Waddie… the drunken side-kick. Predictably, the main character almost gets caught in on of those “space-time continuum” paradoxes, but it all works out, and the end leaves you thinking there may be a sequel in the works.

Not really one to enjoy Westerns, I was surprised by my love of this book. The characters of Ed, Angelina, and even Waddie bring this story of a lawman taken back in time to life. Mr. Daniel writes beautifully as he intermingles a romance, a murder mystery, and his knowledge of Apache tradition into Desert Sunshine.

Trinity Flesh Flowers (Book) - 1/24/2003 3:01:38 PM
Trinity Flesh Flowers is a complete change from Desert Sunshine. Two very different books, but both done well by a gifted writer in my opinion for whatever that is worth. The stark realism in this is frightening and will be difficult for sensitive readers to absorb, but your writing is top notch.

Reece, This reads very well. I like your descriptions and dialogue. Can't wait for the finished product. Jim

The short excerpt was dynamite, and the preview... wowsers! You have class, you have style, and you definitely have talent. You draw the reader in well with your quick wit, realistic characters and attention-holding plot. I especially liked the scene in which Carver went to view the body and stepped away to vomit. No need to elaborate more there, because that in itself tells us how bad the crime scene really was. Good job, I can't wait to read more.

Nothing fresh about your first chapter Reece.I gimaced and shuddered as you described the crime.I could smell the crime scene. Not my cup of tea, but you will hook the readers of crime fiction. Well done.

Dear Reece; I've never been much "into" detective novels (although my short story "In the Sight of God" and my in-work novel "The Box factor" both have major law enforcement roles in them). I do, however, very much enjoy the writing of your work and the humanity of your characters. If I get some more time, I will download the sample chapter and relax with it. Keep up the (very) good writing! Doc

Never Go Home (Short Story) - 3/26/2003 3:44:58 PM
thought provoking read

Darkness (Short Story) - 11/8/2002 8:22:30 PM
Bravo! A great piece. This work gives one a sense the begining of time, and the constant battle between good and evil. Very descript, and brings to the minds eye the very begining of time, and the continual rebirth. GUS

Never Go Home (Short Story) - 10/27/2002 7:10:07 AM
I most poignant story with an unusual, though effective ending.
