A Letter ( In the mist of war ) (Short Story) - 4/19/2008 9:59:23 PM
This IS very touching, and so endearing. The Vietnam Conflict (War) was another land we had no business in. I don't know how true it is, but I was told that when Harry S. Truman was President, and the Korean Conflict was going on, there were French forces in what was then French Indochina (Vietnam), and that French president Charles deGaulle asked President Truman for help. I had also heard that once our forces were there, deGaulle pulled his forces out, leaving us holding the bag. I don't know how true that is, but that is what I was told. This letter to your loved ones stirs the heart, and makes a person smile at the gentleness with which a soldier on the front lines can write. Thank you Paul, for sharing this. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you lovve, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With my love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & many sisterly hugs, Barbie.

The Messenger (Poetry) - 2/25/2010 5:27:13 PM
Paul, You write eerie so well. Some vivid descriptions in this poem. The gate reminds me of Poe, but also of another scare King...Stephen King, that is. His house in Maine has a spooky gate. (I think his has gargoyles.) I like how you showed the very real fear of this character, too. Love and Hugs, Sheila

An Eagle's Destiny (Poetry) - 2/7/2010 3:23:59 PM
Your words tell the legend of this majestic bird. Celestial realms of natures beings...no better could be said! Carol3Hawks

The Messenger (Poetry) - 2/1/2010 3:53:30 PM
I like Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven. This reminds me of the movie The Raven where the raven brings back a wrongly killed rock and roll singer to exact vengeanace on those who killed him and his fiancče. Stark images are all through this and makes a person shudder at the thought that a single common bird can be the harbinger of death. Thank you for sharing. May the Lord Bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and walk by your side. With love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your den sister Barbie

Am I My Brother's Keeper? (Poetry) - 1/10/2009 10:20:16 AM
Paul, I just emailed your poem, "Hear My Song" to my two daughters and to my AD email friend Liana Margiva. It's one of my favorites. And, of course, I couldn't help but stop by your den site again just to indulge myself with your wonderful poetry. Your words always are thought-provoking and so very easy on the tongue in cadence and rhythm. "Am I My Brother's Keeper" is nothing less than another masterpiece. With admiration and respect, Richard

If I Were A Bugle (Poetry) - 1/6/2009 12:01:32 AM
Dear Paul, This is so beautiful. You're right, a bugle signifies many things when it sounds. Can be merriment, celebration, announcement of things coming and are at hand, and yes, even death. Enjoyed. It's good to be back and read your works again, Paul. Blessings to you, Sheri

The Pigeon (Poetry) - 12/22/2008 4:52:45 AM
Paul, A creative view of what's happening in the world. This brings to mind school days. Seems like all kids are friends in the early grades. Then they group into cliques, and the bully is born. I've always wondered how the bully is born; from good to bad. With the help of abusive parents maybe? I don't know. I had an abusive parent but I never became the bully. Food for thought. This poem makes me wonder about those who turn bad. Love and Hugs, Sheila

Hear My Song (Poetry) - 12/19/2008 4:28:32 AM
Paul, I am swept to the creek, or the shores of rivers stream, gentle glides of water rush...the birds which also sing...In days gone by, I layed inside the visions of "Hear My Song"....I gazed into the blue sky listening "Bathe within its soothing balm. Cleanse and you will know, how great it feels to sing its psalms wherever you may go." ahhh yes the good life.....sublime, and serene & Mother Earth's perfections as I naw on a pieces of clover blooms Much Love Peace, Love & Poetry Embraced~Embrassé Vickie

Paul, What strikes me about this poem the most is the support you offer the soldiers, even as a bugle. You're behind them; you were them. A beautiful tribute to your experiences. Sheila

If I Were A Bugle (Poetry) - 10/30/2008 2:07:58 PM
Yes, for certain sure, it is the bugle of all instruments that quickens in our spirits and we have an automatic reflex to hearken to its call. This poem speaks like the voice of the prophet, the early warning system to the people, calling for a response. A beautiful aspiration and a wonderful analogy. You have a bugle heart, Paul! :)) xx

Hear My Song (Poetry) - 10/17/2008 3:27:44 PM
I really loved reading this, and I may again sometime. This poem reassures us that life is not the dull, aching abstract thing that makes us carry on. What makes us carry on is "the song of life" and all we have to do is listen to its rhapsody; like the rain hitting the windows, or children laughing while they play, a mother humming a tune while she cleans or even cooks. The "song of life" is there if only we take the time to listen. But nobody does hardly anymore, because everybody is rushing to meet this plane or that train, scurrying to a meeting across town in a taxi stuck in traffic, and still, they do not hear the rhapsody, as they look at their wrist watch, counting down the minutes before they are late. A wonderful reminder, Paul, that life is there waiting to be lived, not just existed in. Thank you for sharing this wise poem. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Hear My Song (Poetry) - 10/11/2008 2:22:30 PM
What a beautiful, wondrous piece of artistry, Paul, so lilting in its vocal rhythm, so easy on the tongue. I must confess that most of the poetry I commit to memory nowadays is my own (maybe because I'm inherently lazy and, since I composed the words, I have a headstart on remembering the words). But "Hear My Song" is surely one that breaks my pattern and stirs me to enjoy its beauty again and again. Thank you for bringing us all such a splendid treat. Well done, Paul. Well done! Richard

Hear My Song (Poetry) - 10/11/2008 11:09:59 AM
I like "whichever way we think" in the third stanza. This is a reassuring poem, Paul. Usually if we try to think positive, life is indeed a rhapsody, not In Blue, but in golden yellow. Peace and love, Kathy

Hear My Song (Poetry) - 10/11/2008 1:18:46 AM
Paul, The first two lines of the last stanza capture the sentiment to take pleasure in the little things life offers. This is a relaxing poem - a feeling that emphasizes the message. Great write. Take care! Sheila

Paul, So true to life. I like the visual of a maze in this poem because life is full of rights, lefts, and dead ends. Great symbolism...all the way through this one. Take care. Hope you and yours are well. Sheila

Bump In The Night (Poetry) - 9/27/2008 3:35:21 AM
Paul, I apologize. I was tracking you and thought you had just stopped writing for some reason. Then, this morning, I figured I'd have a look to see what you had been up to. To my surprise you've written a few pieces that I never saw before, such as this one. I don't know how but somehow my tracking you was unsubscribed. Corrected that problem now so I'm back on track. No pun intended. lol BUMP IN THE NIGHT is very well done my friend. Well done indeed. Great to see you again and God bless.

Man In Black (Poetry) - 9/26/2008 12:32:13 PM

Paul, The second stanza resonates strongly with me. We all have those walls we erect to protect our delicate feelings. Most only drop those walls for special friends. A great friendship piece. Love and Hugs, Sheila

Bump In The Night (Poetry) - 9/22/2008 5:47:25 PM
As one who hates nightmares, I think I'll pass on listening to what 'goes bump in the night.' Still, the poem closely approximated that which causes that fear. God bless you. Kathy

Don't Tell Me Yer Problems (Poetry) - 7/25/2008 2:35:43 AM
LOL:) The list gets longer as we get older. Sometimes my wrist throbs before it rains, because I broke it when I was in the first grade. You must experience that feeling, plus the arthritis! I'm only 33, but my body feels older at the moment. I go for back surgery this coming Tuesday - they're going to remove most of my lowest disc and replace it with an artificial one. Fusion with a stomach entry. Should be fun! I'll have more time for AD and writing while I recover. Oops...you said NOT to tell our problems...lol. Sorry! A fun read, Paul! Love and Hugs, Sheila

Conquest (Poetry) - 7/25/2008 2:28:41 AM
Paul, I've got the heebie-jeebies now. I pictured a King Cobra making the kill! I detest and fear snakes. lol. Your comment beforehand rings true to life. That's why it's so important to enjoy the smallest amount of good before it's gone. Great poem! Love and Hugs, Sheila

:))))))))) An AGE thing????? Hopefully we will never be too old or too young for this kind of date, Paul! And needs so delicately met and with such chivalrous charm perhaps makes the "work" seem less odious or manipulative. Your rhyme and meter are flawless... I wonder why?? This rocks lyrically and with great tenderness and beauty. Kate xx

Man In Black (Poetry) - 7/15/2008 2:58:16 AM
Paul, Very spooky! I have a series of poems with this title - never posted - about a ghost I saw in my house. I've talked to others who have also seen "a man in black". I can't help but wonder if we have seen this fellow in your poem - always watching and ready to collect those with unpunched tickets. lol. I love the verse: Trees will bend as if in wind. Small branches, they break bough but of that man all dressed in black they shan't forget somehow. Fantastic work on this ominous poem! Love and Hugs, Sheila

Man In Black (Poetry) - 7/14/2008 5:36:34 PM
Paul, we will all have to face this ride one day and I loved the way you portrayed it. My first thoughts was this was going to be about Johnny Cash and did I get a surprise. I must say, this is good writing.

Man In Black (Poetry) - 7/14/2008 12:38:31 PM
The Grim Reaper cometh when our time on earth is done, gives pause to what life is really all about...Yet there are those I can think of also referred to as the man in black, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and the infamous Johnny Cash. I wonder if they had it all figured out early on... Be always safe, Karen

Am I My Brother's Keeper? (Poetry) - 7/11/2008 9:16:45 PM
This is really what it is all about. We can help Martha and George, and we can all do our part to keep us free, but congress though, now that is hopeless ... LOL. But no, we must all do our part to watch out for our neighbor and keep a wary eye on the passerby. We should all give a little something to the survival of a child in a third world country, and we should all sit down and reason with each other, instead of going to war and killing innocent people and young soldiers. Am I my brother's keeper? Yes, and I am only too happy to be there for those in need. It is really too bad that not everyone thinks this way, and are only content to live in their own little world of selfishness. Thank you for sharing, Paul. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Cacophony (Poetry) - 7/11/2008 2:40:37 AM
Paul, This poem makes me think of those unforgetable memories that haunt us. The ones we think upon, wondering "what if" or wishing we could go back to make a different choice. Many of my childhood memories haunt me - unhappy memories that I hope to find peace with one day. This poem seems to have that same mixture of emotions - haunting and craving peace. Great rhythm, as always! Love and Hugs, Sheila

This is so full of generosity! "We are all its spark", you are right, this is what I feel too. The differences in style, age, skills, whatever only make me appreciate more each day the fact that there is no way writing can be judged when it comes from the heart. Something that you have described in this garden! Thank you. Axilea
