Blimey, I wonder how much is poppycock. My Grand parents and mine used lard, ate dripping on bread they all lived to be 90-ish, healthy and my folks are doing well in their mid eighties.
We've been afflicted with fear, not affected by fats.
Nice take on todays food confusion and fads.
Back Seat Driver (Poetry) - 12/11/2009 12:34:54 AM
It seems to remind me of the Id and ego theory. Is that an influence in you poem, Back Seat Driver?
Do Unto Others................ (Poetry) - 12/7/2009 10:03:26 PM
Yes, I agree. You wrote this quite well, and tightly, so that the meaning comes through with a punch.

Maybe the dream is really a nightmare. Maybe he's misunderstood.
Do Unto Others................ (Poetry) - 12/5/2009 4:43:53 PM
I like your approach, how you tackle this, beginning each stanza with 'If' and exploring and probing. Yes!

Do unto others with respect and hopefully that is what you usually get. But not everyone follows the golden rule as it was meant. I related to your poem as having been all of the above and trying not to any more. Great sage advice here. Liz

Well penned, Karen. Would you believe the image of "Gaston" from Beauty and Beast came to mind! :)
Writing Prose is so much more interesting than writing in traditional poetry style! So much more enjoyable to read...and no frustration guessing what is meant! Excellent!

Interesting analogy and a true perspective of so many...

I like what you say, Karen, and how you say it.
Irony (Poetry) - 11/11/2009 6:17:27 PM
Sometimes I think those who abuse animals might have themselves experienced abuse in their own lives. It's sad either way!
Another great write that stirs the emotions, Karen. Keep loving your pet. In their own "pet-ty" way, pets love back.
Back Seat Driver (Poetry) - 11/11/2009 6:05:01 PM
Guilty as charged, Karen, for I am a backseat driver! My husband tells me I'll wear a hole in the floor if I don't stop pressing the invisible brakes. But these days, I have to be careful with my instructions, 'cause hubby is quick on the draw and can stop on a dime, without much thought of the driver in the rear.
Great write! Made me smile! Welcome to the Den!

Made me cry. Thank you.
Be Well, Carin'

it is a shame abuse of any type is on the rise
so many fractured minds are full of their own misery
they are too blind to see they are actually demented cowards...
animals who have nothing but loyalty to give need to be treasured
and adorned with love

I can totally relate to your "Back Seat Driver"
often times I wonder why my back seat driver is Miz Logic
& my driver in charge is Miss Emotion :)
Welcome To AD Karen!
