Raging Shadows (Poetry) - 5/16/2005 11:00:00 AM
This truly says it all, Jim. I agree with Kate in that we all have our reasons for writing, letting go mainly, I think. A sad, yet powerful and real write. Great work.
Jill :)
Raging Shadows (Poetry) - 5/15/2005 3:56:48 AM
Acute and graphically described, Jim. Guess we artistic-types all have degrees of such a temperamental framework - perhaps creativity is fed by it; we have, after all, to have a "disturbance" within that prompts us to write. A roller-coaster ride for sure, but having the heart pierced by the angelic shaft of warmth and abiding vision must help to keep perspective and to keep standing strong until the shadows are past again... no mountains without the valleys, I suppose. Neat and defined. TY Kate xx

i have seldom found someone who can cope with the depression for very long, i hope that you have found her...it is really hard for a person suffering from this affliction, i know, although i was diagnosed in my twenties the symptoms have been life long, i remember the depression as a child

The Ballad Of Captain K. (Poetry) - 1/27/2004 3:17:19 PM
i loved watching kaptain kangaroo on tv; oh, how i remember him! i was sad to hear of his passing; bob keeshan was a very good and gentle man who cared for children and their welfare! tv for kids has seen to fallen by the wayside; not much worth watching nowadays aside from "Sesame Street" and a few others...sad.
wonderful tribute to the captain! he will be missed by many!

Hey Jim, Welcome back! Yes, I, too, grew up with Captain Kangaroo and was very saddened to see that he had passed away. All of the good members of children's programming seem to be leaving us: Mr. Rogers, Shari Lewis, and now, our beloved Captain Kangaroo. T.V. for kids will never be the same. Thank goodness for reruns and syndication.
Wonderful tribute, Jim.
Much Love,
Jill :)

A Christmas Blessing (Poetry) - 12/19/2003 6:20:37 AM
This is a fantastic insightful write. Just thinking......balance is what is needed in all situations. When you consider the strength of love that is in the world at Christmas is it any wonder that the darker emotions become so apparent? I see your blessed with the Christmas Spirit :-)
The Death of Camelot (Poetry) - 11/6/2003 12:47:17 AM
I love the legend of King Arthur..
Camelot is one of my favorite musicals..
and yet this bespeaks not only of a grander
time or mythical place in history..
It brings back a black day in November 1963
nice flow and story told.

Such a kind-hearted soul he was, Jim. One of Hollywood's true "nice guys". He never had to fake being kind. John Ritter was a great one and I was shocked this morning to learn of his tragic death. It's a real shame. My thoughts and prayers to his family and I commend you on writing a much deserved and very fitting tribute.
Take care.

It's Just Sad (Poetry) - 9/10/2003 7:22:38 PM
Jim! Thank you for this! an excellent write full so well expressed!I'm so sick of the news, I use it just to get headlines lately, can't stand the negative rhetoric, from every station. I do believe the anti-american faction is taking over every media outlet and skewing the news against anything patriotic! The Media caters to leftist polititions and the ACLU, protect them both! Agree with Ted on this!
It's Just Sad (Poetry) - 9/10/2003 3:58:31 PM

It's Just Sad (Poetry) - 9/10/2003 7:13:33 AM
Jim, it is indeed sad. We've lived this hell somewhere's in our lifetime. Although we don't have the range and power of the media, we will have to become the teachers. One might think, by now, that time would have taught something. It is scandalous, but good deeds do not sell newspapers or boost ratings. We are unfortunate to live in an age of the uninformed. Your poem is very truthful and enlightening.
It's just sad,- we walk on rice paper again.

It's Just Sad (Poetry) - 9/10/2003 5:59:29 AM
Amen Brother, though you preach here to he choir, I suggest that the greatest of all the terrorist is CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, and let's not forget the one that takes public tax dollars but swings so far to the left when reporting the news that it can't see the center good ol' PBS. They never report the good and positive, but choose to invoke fear and disgrace on the American people. Thank God for people like you, who know the truth about this great President and our country.

What a truly lovely and moving poem Jim. Very personal tale of two people whose life together apparently brought them happiness and more than their share of pain. How wonderful that you could be there with your Aunt on the farm as she celebrated fifty years of days, nights, and a wealth of emotion.

The Owl's Call (Poetry) - 8/19/2003 4:37:20 PM
Good god, Jim, I've got goose bumps flashing up and down my arms and neck...this is magnificent, truly a joy to read, bringing out emotions with every turn, but always with faith at its heart. I applaud you, and bow to this amazing song of heart! Have you submitted this anywhere? I've recently been sending poetry to Chicken Soup for the Soul and I think this would set them on fire!! Check out Chickensoup.com, if accepted they pay $150.00 with all your rights kept by you, but it's not about the money, Jim, this piece needs to be read by many, not stowed away where it may fade from sight... In fact, it would probably blow a similar piece I did for my husband's parents 50th Wedding Anniversary out of the water! I'd love for you to read it, if you are so inclined. It's called Amazing Strength, I presented it to them on July 23rd when we were back in Wisconsin on vacation, it brought tears to their eyes, the best accolade I could have had! Whew, man, you really got me going, really, though, I am so moved, I'm blabbing...unusual, that!? ;)

Lady Belle (Poetry) - 4/23/2003 12:45:13 PM
fine job there
i tried this once ended up with a bunch of short little "diddies for kiddies" buried somewhere in my pile, actually showed them to a publisher at a writers conference she said "these are good, but not great. If you could just come up with an overall theme character we might could do something with them" alas they stay buried. check em out ifn you the time or inclination.
