I could see and taste every bit of the scene, and feel your main character's angst. Refreshing style and form.

My grandmother taught me the very same thing, Marjorie - and to this day, I still release any insects I find in the house.
Loved your article, and loved the reference to your hubby releasing that beautiful monarch.

Marji..As always I find your writing poetic...your lyrical style makes me comfortable with your literary voice...the innocent naivte of your two questions in the final paragraph makes me sad and wish for that innocence...thanks for the read..joyce...keep writing--love that last sentence

Well said. I've found cans well off the beaten path. We've spoiled the natural water sources, so we carry heavy expensive bottled water so that we can throw the light, empty bottles to our wildlife for reuse.

Bravo for this write, Marjorie.
It truly sickens how mankind disregards the consequences of the trash he leaves behind. Have seen far too much carnage, as you obviously have, of our lovely nonhuman neighbors.
