I've often wondered about the true source of all those lovely, freshly released garden scents, Morgan, and now you have given me answers. There is so much more to gardens than meets the naked eye. Lovely mystery and mysticism here. xx

In the Garden the veiled wings envelope her soul.
A tale of sheer depth in sadness for this sweet fairy.
Beautiful renderings and lovely sketch by michael parkes.

In the Garden (Poetry) - 11/22/2013 9:46:21 AM
Sad that so many go through life never realizing how their actions and behavior have the ability to slowly, but surely, reduce the breath rate of another. Beautifully rendered.
In the Garden (Poetry) - 11/22/2013 9:37:41 AM
This fairy's inability to escape such a demise saddens me. Great play on words here.
In the Garden (Poetry) - 11/22/2013 8:47:21 AM
Methinks she is so fragile that she fades away from the mirror thought of being trapped.
Wonderful image and written imagery.
In the Garden (Poetry) - 11/22/2013 8:11:21 AM
She leaves without the joy of sharing her inner beauty as it fades within. Powerful metaphor.
Sombre poem, written with a lonely tone.
In the Garden (Poetry) - 11/22/2013 5:04:35 AM
Stunning bit of wordplay here. I have it fixated in my mind the tragedy unfolding. Smelling the "fragrance in the shadows" and it smells like decaying leaves where the angel will repose.
In the Garden (Poetry) - 11/22/2013 3:10:16 AM
Your words give such a view to the tragedy
of this poor Fairy and more in the sentiment...

Thank you for posting this memorable story on Veterans Day. I have read it before, but it brought to mind the famous last line..."Put out my hand and touched the face of God." So powerful. This is the writing of a hero touched by the wings of an angel.

High Flight (Poetry) - 11/11/2013 5:52:15 PM
This poem hangs on the walls where it captures the imagination of ground crews and fighter pilots alike across the far reaches of this planet. Inspired by angels and penned by a lad of 19 years. He lost his life over England in WWII.
High Flight (Poetry) - 11/11/2013 5:02:25 PM
Stunning. Is Douglas Bader only a hero in the UK or did the yanks know of him and his winning tactics, even after losing both legs, he still fought in the Spit until shot down and, was the ever annoying prisoner...

Elation (Poetry) - 11/5/2013 9:03:06 AM
...right from your first simile to the last white hot symbol, this poem sizzles with more than a modicum of meaty meaning... nothing short of total immersion in the object of your passion... good gig if you can get it...

OMG! Would I love to meet someone like that! Abandoning everything for the burning desire of the flame!
Elation (Poetry) - 11/5/2013 7:40:08 AM
As your poem exemplifies, enigmatic conundrums remain the abstract world most willing to be evaluated and explored. This is no exception.

Soccer (Poetry) - 11/2/2013 5:36:50 PM
I like to think of the "demons between" as a kind of muddle-of-the-road mediocrity we should all avoid at all costs... unfortunately, as the "lingering fog" shrouds and obscures our view, sometimes it is only mediocrity that appears as an "empty goal" before us and our "effortless" efforts make those goals both certain and vain. Your poem is so allusive and alive with potential. Superbly crafted, Morgan.
Soccer (Poetry) - 11/2/2013 9:52:24 AM
Beautiful metaphoric lesson for all to heed as the reality some bury, others embrace.

Soccer (Poetry) - 11/1/2013 3:55:19 AM
It seems everyone has their own set of demons. The trick is to disarm them. We can never quite kill them, so disarming them is the way to fight them.
Soccer (Poetry) - 11/1/2013 2:21:48 AM
we should all conquer them

beautifully crafted lines and the meanings powerfully brought across
Another Sky (Poetry) - 10/28/2013 4:35:51 PM
Loved how the wordsmithing merged the real and the imagined, brought the warrior to coalesce with the dove's wing, understanding there is a oneness to everything, unless, of course, you choose to be unconscious. Well done, Morgan.

THE FRAGILITY OF HAPPINESS IS TOTALLY EXPOSED WHEN NATURE 'CONNECTS' WITH THE TRUE PURPOSE OF ITS EXISTENCE; WHICH IS TO ESCALATE THE HEART TO ITS HIGHEST LEVEL OF CONTENTMENT AND APPRECIATION, THUS PRODUCING JOY...THE MIRACLE OF HOPE! SOMETIMES WE NEED A 'LIFT'. IT MIGHT BE A SONG OR MELODY, OR A BOOK, OR...A POEM - MAYBE JUST A PHRASE. BUT WE ALL NEED SOMETHING! BECAUSE...IT'S NOT EASY...LIVING - FACING DISAPPOINTMENTS TIME AFTER TIME. AND THOUGH OUR INABILITY TO FACE THE PAIN OF BROKEN DREAMS ARE SOMETIMES ALLEVIATED BY THE REALITY OF WHAT'S REALLY GOING IN THE WORLD(WHICH IS MUCH WORSE)...STILL, IT'S EASIER(WHAT WITH ALL THE 'AVENUES' MODERN TECHNOLOGY HAS AFFORDED US)TO GO 'SAILING ALONG'(STUCK) ON MAKE BELIEVE CLOUDS. YUP...THAT'S WHY I KEEP TRYING TO TELL EVERYBODY; THE ONLY THING 'REAL' IS JESUS! MORGAN, YOU KNOW I HAD TO GO THERE. ALWAYS A PLEASURE TO READ 'YOU'. THANKS FOR SHARING. An eclectic vision. Why I like your poetry so much. Got me thinking about my ex-wife… wannabe beauty queen. During our courtship I sent her handwritten letters and poems. She sent me a drugstore card every day.

Laughter is infectious. Ever noticed that when someone is laughing uncontrollably, other people can help laugh along? When one is close to a children's playground you can hear laughter ringing out constantly as they play. If only adults can do that, we'd all be happier.

Renewal (Poetry) - 8/27/2013 3:58:55 PM
Wonderful metaphoric romp into disparate realms of the "changes conundrum." Indeed, why? Being a firm believer in all of life is paradoxical in essence, it doesn't confound me that your depiction would suggest nothing is as it seems, until you delve into the subtext of that which tries to appear empirical. Oh how we try to foster pedantic and steel-forged meaning into the nature of change and multiple meanings of so many misnomers. Few elements are not paradoxical, i.e., the triangle et al.

Nature teaches us a lot. If we follow the seasons, we can be renewed every year. On the other hand, if you're stuck in Houston with two seasons, it's hard to renew again.

Substance to reflect upon; however, for me, autumn seems to connect right into my soul. Your verses remind of that and they also remind me vividly of my childhood and loving the wood in the very bried fall of northern Alberta. Winter dominated there. Thank you, Morgan. Love and best wishes,

Morgan, This is well done, descriptive, and one of your best!
I thoroughly enjoyed!
The Porch (Poetry) - 8/1/2013 5:52:04 AM
Fun poem. A shot-gun blast of imagery and a rousingly robust (and very human) look into another day in the life. 'musty summer rental' reminds me of some of the cabins we've rented up in the mountains the last few years. Hoping all is well MM. Peace... r
The Porch (Poetry) - 8/1/2013 3:21:06 AM
oh morgan i really enjoyed this one...was picturing arriving on a sort of a grey, not too friendly a day, at an old familiar rented cottage. descriptive words like dusty, rusty, old, scuffed, ugly might have been more 'quaint' than tired in bright friendly sunshine....luvd it...pat

Gorgeous be Your "Shelter"
petaled with sensuousness
of love's scent, Morgan
The Porch (Poetry) - 7/30/2013 8:16:25 AM
All those rusty castoffs relegated to the porch of someone else's summer rental have been the fodder for a wonderful poem that brings back sights and smells and the wonderment of youth. Got me thinking of the boathouse at my parents' cottage where old things were new again.
Very enjoyable reading…
The Porch (Poetry) - 7/30/2013 7:44:28 AM
Oh, those musty summer rentals! This brought back many memories. Thank you.
The Porch (Poetry) - 7/30/2013 3:13:48 AM
Oooh, what a conglomeration of "odds n’ends" you walked, and tripped across, Morgan. Spider webs and baseball cards.

Shelter (Poetry) - 7/28/2013 4:25:54 PM
Said quite well, Morgan, you set the mood with "Send me a lover’s note slipped under my door to be found," and every verse thereafter cemented the glory home. I liked this.
Shelter (Poetry) - 7/28/2013 3:54:50 PM

If only such freedom didn't also sanction the extremes of its ability. Succinct and without dread or apology to the unbridled power of its wildness.

Heart Tango (Poetry) - 6/27/2013 11:02:10 AM
This is luscious and full of sensuous innuendo. Got me thinking of all those times dancing cheek to cheek. Especially with my girlfriend, a professional dancer that could make me look good as I felt every inch of her body caressing mine.
Heart Tango (Poetry) - 6/27/2013 9:27:35 AM
An original metaphoric keyhole peek into the realm of imagined perfection of passion. Well done.

Echoes, like a few lines from different songs, different places. Evocative and mysterious. I still wonder where the key is, but most of all, I hope I can choose the right door.

Very medieval feel to the imagery here, Morgan. Perhaps there's a quest, a Holy Grail, an imprisonment of circumstances or the heart. Chance is the spinning dime; perhaps freedom and heaven equate and depend on it. I like the boldness of and confidence with the abstract in this piece. xx

What a fascinating vision through this kaleidoscope

A colorful and mysterious insight, MM. I can imagine, here, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, rich of marble and gold inlays, and the echoes of visitors trying to tread quietly through the memories of those gone on. Peace to you ... r
