The Age of Forgetfulness (Article) - 10/7/2011 8:07:34 PM
This was a very interesting article Carol which brings to mind some of the things you've mentioned that I have been experiencing. Like while talking to someone about something and the thought slips my mind as to what I wanted to say. Ugh! I hate that! Then later I remember what it was I wanted to stay or a vital point I wanted to make! I'm also posting more "post its" all over the house to help me remember things! I'm slowly coming to grips that its a sign of aging so oh well! It's coming whether I like it or not! Thanks for sharing such an interesting write. :)

I guess that's why we call it, “Freedom of speech.” So we can sling all the money and mud we want without being thrown in prison. We should throw in a few lies, half lies, and downright deception, to make it sound like we know what we're talking about.

Aw..Cute poem! I now have 5 cats which I've claimed. They were left abandoned by neighbors who moved away but they took refuge at my place. I guess they sensed a kind soul so I've been taking good care of them and truly they've become such incredible pets! They're so cute and I love them dearly! Love your poem Carol and thanks for sharing another great one! :)

I love your poem Carol! It seems we both appreciate the quiet time of reminscing. Your poem reminds me of my poem "Idle Time!" I guess great minds think alike. :) As always, I enjoy reading your work and thanks for sharing your wonderful poems!

I really enjoyed this trip through your memories. I am writing a kids story during this time period, and this sounds just like some of the stories from the research I did-it is such a gift to pass on stories like this one in your poem.

My grandpa kept his garden long after the war ended and I remember how neat it was to go to his place for all those delicious fruits and veggies.

I'm giving my age away but I remember our Victory Garden and the hours my mother planted from seed and then transplanted. Everything thrived as did this then child under her care.

A delightful recall, Carol,
of doing the right thing in difficult times;
the spirit of giving, too, and sharing is here;
i wish we had more people today who would make the effort
to grow 'their own' (and for others).
Love this piece. Thank you.

I can hear her purring, and I'm pretty sure this is how my dog thinks too!
