Strong write, ever think about making this one into a longer short story. This one is good to say the least -- has a nice feel of a ghost story that is told around a fire when someone is camping.

Love your metaphor and the way your rhyme holds up throughout the poem...not an easy thing to do. The third stanza's my personal favorite. This sounds wonderful when read aloud. Great write!
