To Be Or Not To Be (Short Story) - 6/13/2012 5:52:39 AM
familiar. Loved it.

Mr. Kim (Short Story) - 3/17/2012 12:41:55 PM
what a touching story, a comment about the War, mental health, and love. thank you for sharing-

Mr. Kim (Short Story) - 3/16/2012 10:47:37 AM
Reading this I felt like I lived it. My barber's name is Shin- but he played the part of Kim in my mind. Very very touching. John

Mr. Kim (Short Story) - 3/16/2012 5:31:40 AM
What a powerful story! People are so unaware of the level of damage they cause with their prejudices. So sad that such a sweet, mild man had to live that way. I think you are right, children have no preconceptions and base their judgements on gut feeling.

Last Fare of the Day (Short Story) - 3/3/2012 6:58:11 PM
loved the entire ride and yes...it indeed ...it could happen.

Last Fare of the Day (Short Story) - 3/2/2012 12:16:27 PM
I really enjoyed this Stephen. Awesome story- high 5! John

Last Fare of the Day (Short Story) - 3/1/2012 8:44:06 AM
To write a good story is a gift - To write a good story that's funny is a greater gift. You have it, my friend. I was laughing along with them before I even knew why. That is the ultimate gift.

Last Fare of the Day (Short Story) - 3/1/2012 8:38:09 AM
A delightful story! Donna

To Be Or Not To Be (Short Story) - 3/19/2011 6:10:33 PM
I loved it..simply loved it. It kept me reading to find out what Ted was going to do next--would he or would he not kill himself. This is a comedy, but hope it never comes true for Ted to kill him self. When something keeps me reading and wondering then it is a good page turner.

To Be Or Not To Be (Short Story) - 3/18/2011 7:53:07 AM
Whew! Fine writing. Now I can breathe. John

Trip To Nowhere (Poetry) - 5/8/2013 11:56:04 AM
Has the beginnings of a Stephen King short story. Ron

Trip To Nowhere (Poetry) - 5/8/2013 8:30:07 AM
Ah- this so well nails the down side of life many of us have experienced. I am very thankful everyday that this sort of thing is behind me- and it looks like it will stay there. Best wishes- hope for a life you wouldn't mind giving another try. John

Trip To Nowhere (Poetry) - 5/8/2013 8:02:51 AM
This sounds ominously familiar, right down to the 'note to self'. You have recounted the mood and mindset brilliantly. Rx

Map (Poetry) - 3/9/2012 8:58:57 AM
Great analogy. I always plan a trip, but don't often plan my life as well. Ron

Map (Poetry) - 3/9/2012 6:30:40 AM
So true. You can't change the past and you can't control the future. What you do now counts for everything. I'm surprised you don't have more comments on this. It's not exactly the sort of subject to goes over people's heads.

How To Analyze A Free Verse Poem (Poetry) - 3/2/2012 1:48:13 PM
How does one analyze a poem with verses? Not? I like free speech. It allows the writer to speak his or her opinion without being criticized by the poet police. While I agree that there are no reason to get abusive. Sometimes it should be okay to state how you feel about a poem without the person you're reviewing getting so upset for constructive criticism. Ron

How The Memory Works (Poetry) - 3/1/2012 10:42:20 AM
i'm just loving your work...trying to read as many as i can...and now this one especially...there really IS as ron commented...a bit of genious in this ......... i was hooked today by your 'how-to' title and then of course by 'horses'. i admire so much your simplistic compacted way of saying so much yet leaving the reader such a irristable invitation to fill in the blanks. 'requiem'.....the perfect example. i feel like i just found an unopened christmas present in july. thank you stephen.....pmedlin

Horses (Poetry) - 3/1/2012 10:14:44 AM
as a life long horse person i've always felt a little bit sad for those who've never experienced life with horses i was young and grew old along with one special spectacularly inteligent arab. he's dead now and you've managed to put into wonderful words part of the reason why i still miss my closest friend... he balked not at where we were going and more importantly...judged me not for where we had been

How To Analyze A Free Verse Poem (Poetry) - 3/1/2012 7:28:47 AM
Well said. Thank you. Donna

Horses (Poetry) - 2/21/2012 7:12:19 AM
I know this feeling well, about the fear, but my other half has had two horses since we first met and I am getting over my fear...they are majestic animals...but I would rather have a dog...;-) ed

It all depends on the creative vein taken ... the individual perspective ...

What Is There To Say? (Poetry) - 2/8/2012 10:23:51 AM
It does seem as though everything has been said or written. But somehow, novel ideas continue to appear. Ron

If (Poetry) - 1/24/2012 6:23:49 AM
THOUGHTS OF A DEPARTED LOVED ONE...EXPRESSED BEAUTIFULLY. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Insight (Poetry) - 1/24/2012 6:20:23 AM
FOR ME, THE BOTTOM LINE IS THIS; I WILL NOT EVER UNDERSTAND ALL THE THINGS THAT GOD ALLOWS BUT...I WILL FOREVER TRUST HIS DECISIONS AND REST IN THE BELIEF THAT WHATEVER MY FUTURE HOLDS...'HE' IS IN IT. THANKS FOR SHARING, STEPHEN. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH... JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

How The Memory Works (Poetry) - 1/24/2012 6:15:19 AM
ITSN'T IT JUST MARVELOUS HOW THE MIND WORKS???!!! I LOVE IT!!! THANKS FOR SHARING, STEPHEN. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH... JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

How The Memory Works (Poetry) - 1/23/2012 1:36:11 PM
I have that problem all time. But I never think to make a catchy little poem like this out of it. I'll admit there's a bit of nostalgia in this, but also a bit of genius. Ron

How The Memory Works (Poetry) - 1/23/2012 10:33:09 AM
This is brilliant! It's exactly how the mind rambles on, untethered, taking us along for the ride. Rx

Go Ahead (Poetry) - 11/23/2011 3:07:02 AM
I absolutely love this!!!!! You often speak my mind in the best of ways. More and more I am able to let reality be real- and even live there. It is not such a bad place after all. Happy Thanksgiving!!! John

Go Ahead (Poetry) - 11/22/2011 9:45:35 PM
ONLY WHEN GOD SAYS ITS OVER...IS IT OVER. THE WORD SAYS, '...WHEN WE ARE WEAK...THEN...'HE' IS STRONG...' I KNOW TO BE TRUE BECAUSE 'MY' STRENGTH, 'MY' WILL EVAPORATED YEARS AGO BUT, I GO ON FROM DAY TO DAY BECAUSE 'HE' CARRIES ME. THUS, I DO WHAT 'HE' ALLOWS...NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS. THERE IS A SONG THAT GOES LIKE THIS, 'BECAUSE HE LIVES, I CAN FACE TOMORROW, BECAUSE HE LIVES, ALL FEAR IS GONE, BECAUSE I KNOW HE HOLDS THE FUTURE...LIFE IS WORTH THE LIVING JUST BECAUSE...'HE' LIVES. AND SO I DO...'GO AHEAD', BUT WITH THE ADDED EXPLETIVE...'IF GOD ALLOWS'. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Metaphor (Poetry) - 10/27/2011 9:24:07 PM
'...NEVER THINK YOURSELF SO IMPORTANT THAT THE WORLD CAN'T GO ON WITHOUT YOU...IT CAN AND IT WILL...'CAUSE ONE IS HERE TODAY...GONE TOMORROW AND FORGOTTEN.' SPLENDID AND ENJOYED. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Evolution (Poetry) - 8/17/2011 11:14:37 PM
Well put in the lines... The idea is that evolution is govern by laws and religion(s) does not have to be proven... Thanks for sharing...

How I Live (Poetry) - 8/3/2011 7:25:31 AM
A simple philosophy, Steve, gently expressed. I specially loved the first four stanzas, whose brevity so neatly reflected the mood of the poem. Possibly the slightly inconsistent meter in the final stanza made it a little less effective than the preceding ones, but I still enjoyed it very much. My best wishes to you, Sal.

I Am God (Poetry) - 7/27/2011 4:32:10 AM
Stephen, I have a precious little dog named Blackie, and YES they do look up at you with complete reverence and love. I don't know what I'd do without him, he gives comfort and love unconditionally. Enjoyed this alot. Blessings, ~Linda

I Am God (Poetry) - 7/6/2011 3:05:18 AM
How lovely! A dog's love towards its owner is truly wonderful! What a sweet blessing to be adored! :)

I Am God (Poetry) - 7/5/2011 11:24:24 PM
I don't think I have read an expression of love more eloquently put. For me you have encompassed all its purity. Sally is quite right, with these words, a photograph could only be secondary. Rx

I Am God (Poetry) - 7/5/2011 2:15:19 AM
Well penned, Stephen

I Am God (Poetry) - 7/2/2011 10:23:32 AM
Another lovely poem - and I am sure, from my first quick run-through, Maxine is one of the dogs in your photo collection, so I shall go back and take another, proper look. Though your words are almost certainly more vivid than a photograph could ever be. I hope this gets all the good reviews it surely deserves.

Frog (Poetry) - 7/2/2011 10:19:32 AM
Very nice, Steve, and a great insight into your character. A strange coincidence that you should post this one about a lifeless frog, since on the desk beside me lies a slow-worm's detached tail! (Do you have slow worms in the US? Legless lizards that look like snakes and shed their tail when threatened.) I found it in the road as I walked home today, and simply had to pick it up and stroke it. And now I don't know what to do with it, since I can't bear just to throw it in the bin. I keep looking at it, imagining it is still moving - which clearly it isn't! No, I am sure no tear is ever wasted. Sal

Something Sacred (Poetry) - 7/2/2011 10:07:22 AM
You do have a keen sense of reality, and introspection. Use it well.

Saving the World (Poetry) - 7/2/2011 10:05:58 AM
[My favorite world complaint (besides those with no consideration for anyone/thing other than themselves, and what they are doing): NOISE.] Beautiful portrait of your feelings/thoughts.

When Tragedy Happens (Poetry) - 7/2/2011 10:01:26 AM
Good! I saw the face...!

Writers (Poetry) - 7/2/2011 9:56:51 AM
True, most generally. Liked it alot, but could have made it better with a more artful configuration.

Frog (Poetry) - 7/2/2011 9:51:07 AM
Oh! That is the best kind of poetic justice. That moment of respect in the past, returning to pay homage to you now. Rx

Hey, Presto! (Poetry) - 6/27/2011 12:27:34 AM
I wonder what a "right mind" looks like. Don't think I've ever seen one. lol Seriously though, takes a certain someone to even attempt such a feat, someone pretty special.

When Tragedy Happens (Poetry) - 6/23/2011 8:06:19 PM

Pop Quiz (Poetry) - 6/23/2011 7:48:27 PM
THE EARTH IS PROOF OF GOD'S EXISTENCE BUT, OF COURSE, THIS DEPENDS ON WHETHER ONE BELIEVES IN GOD OR NOT. ONE OF THE GREATEST SCIENTIFIC MINDS(ALBERT EINSTEIN) GAVE THE WORLD A QUOTE THAT I HOLD VERY DEAR...THE GIST OF IT IS THIS; 'ONE LIVES HIS LIFE ONE OF TWO WAYS, EITHER HE BELIEVES THAT EVERYTHING IS A MIRACLE OR THAT NOTHING IS. AND...OF COURSE, THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION MAKES SENSE...IT JUST THE FACT THAT...IT ISN'T TRUE! AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THE NATURAL WORLD IS MOST CERTAINLY WORTH PERSERVING AND AS 'GOOD STEWARDS' WE SHOULD STRIVE TO DO THIS...BUT ALMIGHTY GOD HIMSELF GIVES US A CHOICE AS TO WHETHER WE WILL OR NOT AND IF WE BELIEVE IN BIBLICAL PROPHECIES...WE WILL NOT. THANKS FOR SHARING AND GOD BLESS. LOVE & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Hey, Presto! (Poetry) - 6/23/2011 7:39:50 PM
WOW! THE MIRACLES GOD WORKS IN OUR LIVES EACH AND EVERY DAY!...YOU CAN DO IT, STEPHEN, AND YOU HAD BETTER DO IT NOW, BECAUSE YOU ARE RIGHT...YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO IT LATER('...WORK WHILE IT IS DAY...FOR THE NIGHT COMETH WHEN NO MAN CAN WORK...'). LOVE, BLESSINGS & MUCH FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Pop Quiz (Poetry) - 6/23/2011 10:42:03 AM
Ooh! That first one is a tricky one lol Seriously though, great questions, designed to make you stop and think (at least for a moment) whether you like it or not.

Handbag (Poetry) - 6/21/2011 9:58:48 AM
Oh Steve. I read this several days ago, but stuff kept getting in the way of writing a review. A wonderful poem, perhaps one of the best of yours I have read. I love it. If we were still FSing, this would be a stonking 6. You capture both a physical and a metaphorical image with such a deft stroke. And what an insightful reflection on a long marriage. Such a pleasure to read. S

Saving the World (Poetry) - 6/18/2011 8:54:34 AM
YES...'HIS' INEXPLICABLE 'PEACE'...THAT SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING. A BIG JOB BUT...'WE CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHICH STRENGTHENS US'. WONDERFUL...A POWERFUL MESSAGE. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Handbag (Poetry) - 6/18/2011 8:51:20 AM

Choices (Poetry) - 6/17/2011 11:56:24 AM
Steve, I can't understand why you don't get more reviews for your wonderful poems. I can read most of them over and over, and still find things to reflect on. Superb writing.

Saving the World (Poetry) - 6/16/2011 6:46:43 AM
Oh! If only... Wouldn't it be wonderful to hear what the world sounded like before we filled it with machinery and the like, and before we were so bloomin' many!

All In A Day's Work (Poetry) - 6/11/2011 11:20:11 AM
YEAH...IT IS. I'M GLAD ONE OF THEM DID THE RIGHT THING...AT THE RIGHT TIME. CALM DOWN AND TALK LATER...IS ALWAYS THE BEST CHOICE. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH... JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

All In A Day's Work (Poetry) - 6/11/2011 10:06:13 AM
Sadly, a tale all too familiar in all walks of life. The clarity of these little gems of yours is testament to your phenomenal skill with words. Rx

All In A Day's Work (Poetry) - 6/11/2011 9:06:12 AM
As you know, I've met this poem before Steve, but a second reading no way lessens my appreciation of it. I like the way you manage to stick to the main points, without ever using too many words. And that last line is a beaut!

The Science Of Love: A Love Story (Poetry) - 6/9/2011 8:21:12 AM
Way to sweep a lady off her feet! It's very, very clever and grabs the attention by both ears.

So true, so many layers! Christine

Writers (Poetry) - 6/8/2011 11:20:31 AM
I like it very much, Steve. Your unusual presentation really adds to the effectiveness of the words. And I agree, always lots of clues, sometimes when we didn't intend them.

Cure For Boredom (Poetry) - 6/6/2011 10:52:47 AM
I love the way you say so much, so succinctly. I always had this secret belief that only boring people claim they are bored. But then I started being required to attend departmental meetings... Yawn. I really enjoyed this one.

Invisible Man (Poetry) - 6/6/2011 10:50:05 AM
A powerful piece of writing, Steve, which I imagine will say different things to different people. "Particular voices" is a very compelling phrase, quite a shift after the mundane observations in the preceding lines. Very nicely done.

Grief (Poetry) - 6/5/2011 7:50:14 AM
Grief, Stephen! It's hard to bear it alone, but Jesus can help. This is a great line: I told him, "EVERYTHING."

Cure For Boredom (Poetry) - 6/5/2011 5:21:10 AM
You are so observant and very skilled at putting your observations into neat, digestable packages. I am always amazed at that list when people constantly say what a small world it is - One of life's big puzzles I guess.

Invisible Man (Poetry) - 6/5/2011 5:15:40 AM
Some days I wish so hard that I was invisible (today being one of them)and you're right - there are things that force you to show yourself and then there those darned voices... Very astutely put and well timed too.

Interval (Poetry) - 6/4/2011 5:32:12 PM
I AGREE...IN THE RIGHT PLACE, AT THE RIGHT TIME...MIRACLES CAN HAPPEN. YOUR IMAGERY IS WONDERFUL...ENOYED. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Easter Poem (Poetry) - 5/31/2011 6:52:25 PM
YOU SEEM TO BE NOT ENTIRELY CONVINCED THAT WHAT YOU BELIEVE IS TRUE...IN OTHER WORDS, YOU ARE OPEN FOR SOMEONE TO PROVE YOU WRONG. ONLY GOD CAN DO THAT AND, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, I HAVE A SUGGESTION; ASK GOD TO REVEAL HIMSELF TO YOU, IN A WAY THAT YOU CANNOT DENY HIM OR HIS TEACHINGS. BE SINCERE AND ASK IN THE NAME OF JESUS. HE WILL RESPOND WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Shadows (Poetry) - 4/5/2011 10:12:56 AM
Savage-ruthless-stike of a poem. no words left except,,oracular? keep it up.

Road (Poetry) - 4/4/2011 10:57:28 AM
Apparently, Stephen, your road ends when you stop walking... or perhaps when you reach Rome. But, philosophically speaking, what happens when you reach a fork in the road? -gene.

The Science Of Love: A Love Story (Poetry) - 3/27/2011 11:15:32 AM
Stephen, I said I'd be back. I'm sorry I'm late in welcoming you to the Den. I'm glad you're here. But tell me, does this approach work when you're courting "a nice girl"? No matter. I like it, but then I often stray to some way-out dimension. -gene.

Spring Morning (Poetry) - 3/27/2011 9:24:49 AM
Yes, Stephen, I think it can be said that poets are a bit cuckoo. Enjoyed your spring morning. -gene.
