To Endure (Poetry) - 10/13/2005 4:41:12 AM
Dear Esra, My interest in you and your work came about after I recently heard you speak with Mishal Hussain (?) on Talking Point (BBC World). I was extremely impressed when I heard you speak on TV the other day and actually resolved to get in touch with you. So here I am. I am more impressed after reading your biography and knowing that your talent and your eloquence is complemented by deep religious values and backed by a lovely family. I have growing ties with Turkey and Istanbul in particulary (ties that are waxing and waning painfully) but I do love Turkey and MY Istanbul. In the coming few days / weeks I do hope to lay my hands on some of your work and read it. I would also like to share with you sometime, some of the poems that I have written. Please do write to me if you have a few moments to spare. My e-mail address is Warm Regards Shabbir Ismail

Bravo! Wealth and power does not make one a superior thinker. Ron

Held Serenity (Poetry) - 9/20/2005 12:52:51 PM
I could feel the serenity in your words. This is the reason I like going to a Catholic church, because I like the solemnity of prayer and the peace of listening to God, rather than shouting and praising aloud, I find I can connect with God through my silence and meditation of the Rosary. Thank you for this peice and for showing, that which I already knew, that humans have the need for that serenity which prayer gives, whether in church, mosque or temple.

Nice use of figures, schemes and trophes...symbolism is good, but too many abstactions may detract the reader (just one caveat!). Pacific Ink

A Rose Of Freedom (Poetry) - 7/25/2005 8:39:58 AM

The Dervish Twirls (Poetry) - 7/21/2005 9:45:13 AM
i recently watched a documentary on Rumi - and this was how he began creating poetry...walking and meditating outloud around and around a day poetry came out of his mouth...devotees which followed his spiritual teaching became the whirling dervishes we are aware of today.

Labourers (Poetry) - 3/25/2005 2:05:26 PM
A poignant acknowledgment of the workers of the world. I suspect that some might add to your last lines by pointing out that what they lose in physical stamina or well-being they often, depending on the individual, gain twice over in spiritual resilience and insight. Enjoyed this very much.

Labourers (Poetry) - 3/25/2005 6:46:01 AM

Permanent Dependance (Poetry) - 2/18/2005 1:14:43 PM
PERMANENT DEPENDENCE speaks a loud voice and offers a glimpse of the wealthy oil culture in the countries of arid sands. I truly like the word weave of this piece and the ending is a slam dunk. Now, oil hath changed their lives, With Permanent Dependance, On imported artificiality.
