Joy (Short Story) - 12/9/2006 10:51:13 AM
Hi! friend, Susan, I thoroughly enjoyed the poem,"Joy" There is a kind of sweetness to it that brings back times of when I was younger and would pick flowers for my mother. This is an aptly named poem. Keep up the kind of writing we all need to read once-in-awhile. It teaches us just to stop and take the time to 'smell the roses' kinda thing. And those were the BEST costumes. We used to do the angels and fairies by using cardboard cutouts covered in tin foil. Then, there was always the sheet to play ghost. ROFL. Love this.

This is a cute story! And...tell your brother he was right about the mask being 'evil'. I once had an 'evil' bunk bed that caused me to cut a gash above my eyebrow when I jumped off of it backwards (under the influence of a 'Pippi Longstocking' novel)when I was ten.
The Wagon Wheel Bunk Beds (Short Story) - 12/6/2005 9:49:11 AM
Aww, sweet story. It reminds me of my own childhood when I had to share bunk beds with my own brother ( I was the younger though so I got the bottom bunk)

Who Are You? (Short Story) - 10/14/2004 6:22:49 AM
A delightful nostalgic write, Sue, which reminded me of just how much fun I had as a kid trick or treating. Always made my own costumes, too, and I often stole (borrowed) old sheets from my grandmothers - but they didn't mind, I guess, because by some odd coincidence, they usually left them laying around in the open - just before Halloween.

Princess Selena (Short Story) - 9/29/2004 4:14:29 PM
Da Princess...rather...the Princess should have known not to trust a "big stinky, green and gray dragon with snaggly teeth"! :o). Good moral, and clever write, Sue!

I'll Never Forget the First Time... (Article) - 3/29/2007 4:18:04 AM

The above article is incorrect. The two elephants mentioned are Shirley and Jenny. Jenny recently passed away. You can still check on Shirley (Linda in the story above)....at www.elephants.com.....website of The Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tennessee as well as the other 17 rescued elephants in this wonderful sanctuary.

100 words or less...I think I could make it in the less.
To be me, you have to be crazy. A life full of ups and downs, two steps forward, three steps back and the attention span of a two year old. Loves deeply, savors the moment and then lets it fly away.
Simply put, very simple.
Under 50...
Have a great evening, Sue!

Sue - what a great article! Thank you for reminding us of one of many of the wild animals we do not protect from extinction. Deforestation effects way too many of the animals on this earth...and, in turn, effects the human animal as well. Like you, I don't have the answer...God bless those who work to find one.

Sue I love this story and I love Elephants. I share your views.A beautiful write! I really don't think we have to worry though for in India they are working elephants, and I heard on a program that they make sure there will always be Elephants to do the jobs they need.At least we can hope
so;-)
I'll Never Forget the First Time... (Article) - 7/28/2003 2:38:01 PM
Lovely story about Linda and Jenny, I'm glad they were reunited, family is important to elephants. They need each other just as we do. I have always had a special affinity for elephants and one day, I watched six of them being unloaded from a huge circus truck on the far side of the rail station yard in the town where I lived. A trunk went up like a periscope, scenting the air, then the elephant took off, making a beeline through the crowd for me, followed by the others. I stood my ground and was surrounded by them, all smelling and touching my body and hair, they were so gentle. I was wearing a white lace summer dress that didn't stay white for long! The keeper came rushing over, quite alarmed, but there was nothing to worry about. I wonder why they picked me, out of all the people there, it is an experience I will never forget. Jackie <> <
