I think I will xerox this off and give it to the bus drivers at the school where I teach. They consider it a good day if they get the kids to buckle up! You captured the scene so well. Nice job. Wendy

What a wonderful title! It hooks a reader to want to read further...about what all the fuss is about. Nicely done. Julie.

Cute write and every word the truth...I have two students inparticular that get in trouble at least twice a month for making a big fuss on the bus...might have to read this to them...or yet allow them to read it, I teach first grade and by this time of the year my students are quite fluent readers. Great write, enjoyed and will be back to visit again. Blessings and Merry Christmas, Joyce Bowling

Jake the Snake (Poetry) - 8/14/2004 3:59:25 PM
Hey at least your Mom allowed you to free Jake! We lived next door to a canal and there were snakes in our yard quite often. Nearly all were non poisonous bug eaters. But my Mother would turn three shades of white, and start shrieking for either my dad or I to grab the shovel and kill whatever snake dared to show his face near our clothesline. Being an obedient child, I always complied, but I can't tell you how much being a snake assasin has haunted me over the years! I have always rather liked and respected snakes despite my mother's aversion to them. This write is adorable! Michelle

Loved this poem, Diane; it brought back some wonderful childhood memories. When I was a kid, I had a pet snake named Tiny, but I kept him in my pocket because I knew my mother would do the same thing.
