BULIMIA (Poetry) - 12/26/2008 10:25:35 PM
The centered format works well for this poem. There is a certain visual symmetry that you played with that is also similar to the visual image of the word star. This is a good message, although, I think that no matter what magazines try to show or sell, if young girls were psychologically stronger and not so keen on self-destruction and doubt, they would simply not comply. It all takes place in the family, at a very young age, I think. Nice work, thank you. Axilea

BULIMIA (Poetry) - 12/26/2008 8:17:14 PM
Too bad society can't accept women for whom they are on the outside and must dictate what is "normal": their definition isn't mine. Well penned. (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Bullying (Poetry) - 9/14/2008 11:06:07 AM
Bullies are usually just big sissies. Behind the bullying, there is often abuse and neglect. We need some 'Bully Whisperers' to take them on. Ron

Writing in stead of Fighting (Poetry) - 8/2/2007 5:55:30 AM

Single Mothers do face many challenges in their lives...I'm one who did for awhile, but I always had faith in God and he guided my decisions and sent me a wonderful man. Those precious memories of a single Mother will always be instilled in your heart because you did it on your own.

Education (Poetry) - 2/22/2007 5:49:10 AM

Education (Poetry) - 2/19/2007 6:37:36 PM
Amen sister, speaking as a first grade teacher, you have the right idea....education is for everyone! And there is no better feeling than to see the light bulb come on when a child understands a new concept or hear them explain; wow that was an awesome book I just read! I also love the wide eyed look of totally being drawn in when introducing a new concept to them...this could go on and on...I love to teach and I've been at this for a great number of year and it never gets old! Enjoyed your write very much! Help spread the word my friend! Blessings, Joyce Bowling

that no one has answers for (Poetry) - 2/3/2007 10:06:58 AM
Amy, listen to your friend and let her talk and get out her feelings...no one can answer why one is taken and another is left behind. This answer will come from only one person and that's our Heavenly Father. Offer up prayers with her and ask that God grant her peace and comfort in her dark hour.

that no one has answers for (Poetry) - 2/2/2007 9:32:51 PM
One can only imagine the loss one feels when the loss of a younger child falls upon the mind, it is a question that many have asked and the answer lies within the Heavens alongside the Light that we so cherish, I pray along with you and for your friend and the family who is feeling this loss... sending my prayers.....Art Sun...

that no one has answers for (Poetry) - 2/2/2007 8:49:23 PM
God does love us and the cycle of life is difficult to understand. Death is hard to understand when it is our loved ones regardless of the situation. But you know the bible tells us to lean not to our own understanding, that His ways are not our ways. He also tells us that He will not put no more on us than we can bear. We must seek comfort in the arms of Jesus and press on for now we have more to go to heaven for than we did yesterday. I too have loved ones waiting for me. A six month old nephew that was very hard to understand his passing. But time also has a way of healing wounds. I will pray for you and your friend and your hearts to be comforted. Blessings, Joyce Bowling

Divorce (Poetry) - 1/29/2007 6:31:04 PM
Great work! There are some people who are better off getting divorced however. I myself couldn't let my daughter endure that man. to me there are two types of divorce; Divorce to benefit the kids, and Divorce to benefit the parents. Being apart may be hard on the kids but sometimes... Only sometimes, it's better for the kids and done for the kids.

Divorce (Poetry) - 1/28/2007 10:22:54 AM
It is not fun. 12 years on and they getr worse, kept my lad from me for 7 yrs. Yet I fight on the hopeless crazy biased court system..

Divorce (Poetry) - 1/27/2007 8:12:04 PM
I was so shocked when my dad took me and my older brother aside and told us that he and my mom were getting a divorce...I had never even heard them argue and I just didn't understand. I felt like I was standing out in the middle of a lake on thin cracking ice with no where to go and no way to get to a safe place...just waiting for the ice to break and fearing that my life would soon be over. My baby sister never got over the divorce and always felt that she was the cause of it. She started sleep-walking and had horrible nightmares and lived with constant fears, later turning to drugs and a very sad and lonely life. My sister below me did a little better but I can remember her crying for my dad so many times...it ripped my heart out. A divorce may be the best thing for the parents, and if there is any violence involved, perhaps the best thing for everyone, but in our case, it tore apart our family and left us all feeling unwanted and unable to trust. This is a very touching poem, Amy. Take care, Sherry

Divorce (Poetry) - 1/27/2007 4:44:39 PM
Powerful and much needed write, Amy. Often it's the children that suffer the most during a divorce. There little hearts can't understand what happened. In some cases it's a relief not to hear the fighting anymore between the parents, but still there's usually guilt that the child feels its their fault. Thank you for opening our eyes, Amy. EXCELLENT!!!!! ~Linda~

My Depression (Poetry) - 3/30/2006 5:55:16 AM
I have days where I am depressed, but I try to work through it. This is one reason why I write; it makes me feel better. Well done!

My Depression (Poetry) - 3/29/2006 7:26:28 PM
Amy, This is very meaningful to me. And I understand the importance of medication. Clinical depression is not situational. It is biological. In the same way that therapy would not heal diabetes, neither will it (when used solely) heal clinical depression. It's unbelievable how many people still don't realize that. God bless you and keep you safe. Susan

Amy, I am a fellow survivor of mental abuse, too, you are certainly not alone! But I know with God's Hand on me, He WILL make a way to heal me of the pains of the past, and He WILL continue to do good things for me. Wonderful write, and so true! Keep on writing; writing is the best form of therapy; and besides, the price is right, too...FREE! (((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Texas, Karen Lynn. :(

Amy, I've too have been there, and it took me many years to recover from the mental and physical abuse, but today like you I have been blessed with brighter days and peaceful nights. The human side in all of us reach for the obvious bottle and other things to numb our pain. It's all too sad that we add to the wounds we already have, with our own inflictions. I'm glad to know that you have found peace through spiritual healing. Keep writing...that too helps. Lisa
