Lunch (Short Story) - 3/20/2009 3:57:59 AM
Sandra..what better days than during childhood? when you know not of hate, envy, jelous or discrimination! Uncle Aziz is like one of the sources of children's happiness, because children can find a smile out of anything!..from a drop of rain in the sky to the small pond along the street pathway! And thats how life should be...because it's too short to be misused..all we need is to live fully, love too much, dance alot and laugh like there's no tomorrow! By am hungry..let me go grab my lunch! Bravo dada!

Sandra,
This time i got through.I loved Jasmine.Your stories are so cutting. They are not gentle. They give the bare truth. They are naked. They expose bone. They are transparent. Not sheer gossamer but pure revealing X-ray. They are real.Someone has to capture treality for us to reflect otherwise writing has no meaning. You are doing it keep on doing it. And we love you for it. You are inspiring you got talent. I wish you the very best gal you keep on truckin'!

Gifts For Mama (Short Story) - 2/26/2008 4:16:40 AM
The juxtaposition between African communal expectations and socio-economic needs bring fourth painful results as can be seen in this story. Sandie's pen evidently flows with rich ink when telling these kinds of stories. What next?
Family Business (Short Story) - 2/25/2008 5:01:08 PM
A very materialistic view of life that the "poor of spirit" seem to possess. I guess there's some security in achieving money and things from those who you think may love you.
Your usual direct and graphic style that I enjoy so much.
Ron

Family Business (Short Story) - 2/24/2008 5:50:49 AM
Well Sandie, you certainly do have an eye and ear for the life and experiences some of us so easily overlook in our misguided pursuit of happiness until it is graphically presented to us in the way that you have done. Again, thanks Sandie.
Bitter Half (Short Story) - 2/23/2008 10:57:21 AM
I guess these things go on and on, in a cruel, endless cycle, don't they? This story reminds me of another denner's write. If you feel so enclined, check out Edmund Jonah's "Loves Other Face". It has one seriously skewed ending. --Charlie

Why Am I Black? (Article) - 9/1/2009 2:18:30 AM
BRAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP YESSS
and um E. lucas take something in 1st of all most "india indains" are darker than most african-amerikkkans, 2nd before the arrival of arabs, turks, etc tryna steal shit it was called east ethiopia even Alexander called it that.
It would be africa because remember continents are also politically based not just physically (hence the seperation of europe from eurasia ever think about it?)
me yea Im east Indian. Punjabi is my ethnic group/tribal group. But, I have always known that east indian is a nationionality my race will and always has been African. Lol I dont pass the paper bag or pencil test anyway so if we go bacc to apartheid or segregation im on the same side of the bus but regardless of that even it is what it is.

A Journey of A Thousand Miles (Article) - 10/19/2008 6:48:21 PM
This article is beautiful, marriage is a bond between two people that should be able to weather any storms, but so many times the slightest trimmer seems destroy so many. This article shows a couple that could definitely stand the test of time. Love it!!!!
I Don't Want To Get Married (Article) - 7/28/2008 8:33:24 AM
Very interesting. I think a woman can get great satisfaction in being married--in having a family... but beauty for these reasons sounds, well, it sounds selfish--self-centered! Why cannot a woman be beautiful, just because she is... just because God wanted to say He loved her... attracting people to her, so she can give-give-give, thus becoming more beautiful as the time goes by.
The LAST thing we want, is to encourage single women (and we know there are more of them than men) to set their sights on the men who are already taken! This kind of talk can only lead to poorer self-image and worsen conditions...
Women do not need men to rationalize their beauty! Beauty is, as beauty does. I hope she'll see the light some day. --Charlie

I Don't Want To Get Married (Article) - 1/29/2007 11:33:49 PM
This is a terrible, terrible article! The cynicism displayed by this writer seems to outweigh any cynicism I have ever experienced from single or happily un-married women.
The broad, sweeping generalisations and fairly amatuerish formulation and development of ideas reinforces to me a fairly naive and immature view of the progress of a woman's emotional development.
I Don't Want To Get Married (Article) - 11/30/2006 2:38:50 AM
Listen to me Sandra dear, many women DON'T want to get married simply because they don't want to. We are not disillusioned. And YES, a woman does NOT need a man to complete her in any way. It's women like you who make men feel superior. And as for Ronald Hull, a good opportunity?!! Ha!!! Since when is being a man's doormat and being told what to think, how to be, what to eat, who to befriend, and how to look, a good opportunity?!!!!
Mourning A Great Friend (Article) - 9/23/2006 12:35:11 AM

Tanzania's Culture (Article) - 8/6/2006 1:47:55 PM
Like a Liberian student once wrote on a map of Africa he posted in a reading room, "Africa is a continent, not a country." Tanzania is a country of many colors--I hope to visit and soak up its culture some day.

Tanzania's Culture (Article) - 7/30/2006 7:01:58 AM
A popular story type is the trickster tale, which features a small but wily animal that employs its cunning to protect itself against much larger and more powerful animals.
A truly captivating article you've penned here, Sandra. I love learning things about different cultures, and it struck me how similar many of the ancient Native American cultures and legends and storytelling techniques are to these ancient Africans.
Thanks for sharing this. I think we could all learn a thing or two from ancient cultures all around the globe.
Tanzania's Culture (Article) - 7/30/2006 5:57:22 AM
Interesting! Very well writtten article. Yes, moving with the times we have to adopt the new age modern way of living to be comfortable, and even then it's hard. Especially the medical cost of life...

When I Say I'm Christian (Poetry) - 1/19/2008 10:10:11 PM
Yeah...haven't we heard that before...same thing happens with us Muslims...we don't take responsibility for our actions. We take Islam as a label and hope for forgiveness......
In reality, what we say of ourselves doesn't hold much water unless we apply, meaning we must act on what we say, that's why sincerity is so important in Islam. God scans the heart.
God is Gracious but He is Just, too.
Good write! Safi

Dear Sandra no one has described "being Christian" like you did. Very humble and Christian-like. My dear, you are who you are, you are first and foremost a human being, a child of God, and as such I respect you. You are a real poet. Happy New Year and keep going; this year will be nicer than the past one. Emile
