Will Duck Dynasty Survive Phil (Short Story) - 12/20/2013 7:02:05 AM
Aside from this is an article in the stories section, your points are well taken. Not every poor boy from Louisiana with a hobby making duck calls can turn it into a multimillion dollar business and then top that off with a top rated cable show that is about as inane as it can get with lots of propped up humorous stuff to keep the audience laughing (like the countless sitcoms with laugh tracks or "live" audiences for a laugh a minute for a half hour or an hour… All keeping us sedated in our silent majority hard-working, nose to the grindstone, lives. That does not give him the right to get on his soapbox and announce his own opinions as though they were fact and expect the audience to bow down like they do to his "show." In this case, he out trumped the Donald in arrogance, ignorance, and stupidity. Ron

You are not Trayvon Martin, Kanye West, or Jay Z (Short Story) - 7/27/2013 9:33:15 AM
I'll try the experiment, the thought of doing so is very intriguing.

You are not Trayvon Martin, Kanye West, or Jay Z (Short Story) - 7/16/2013 7:16:56 AM
A very poignant and timely article. From its very beginning there were people who felt that slavery in the United States was an abomination. It took until 1865 with the Emancipation Proclamation for slavery to be abolished. But American apartheid continued in full force until 1965 with the Civil Rights Act forced reform on how society views black people in our culture. The process is continuing and may take another hundred years when we are more racially mixed for those fears and prejudices to finally go away. But your article and others going to the streets are making that transformation happen, altbeit too slow for this generation. The DNA of those of European and African origin are slightly different. Those from Europe have about 2.5% Neanderthal DNA and those from Africa do not. That may tell us something about the character of those from Europe being of slightly more belligerent and thickheaded than their African brothers. While I've had thoughts about black culture and some of the negative impacts that result, in my personal dealing with persons of color and other cultures, it's all been about their character. And my experiences have been exceedingly good and sometimes disappointing when my expectations of an individual's character failed. I served on the faculty and staff of two black higher education universities for 33 years. I have felt the sting of discrimination for being white, and, in addition the subtle discrimination of being disabled. While I was still walking, I passed very well for normal, and climbed my career ladder quite rapidly in spite of some obvious discrimination by employers like, “we didn't hire you because it was unsafe for you,” or “I don't know how you can keep up the shop.” When I was forced into wheelchair 22 years ago, the subtle “accommodation” started setting in. It's the same kind of age discrimination that often occurs in corporations. I am waiting for the time, “when we can all just get along.” Ron

Interrelated associated items of achievement (Short Story) - 6/20/2013 5:56:46 AM
While I wholly agree with the premise of your article (not story), that perseverance and working as a team or as individuals against great odds achieved great things, I have a couple of nitpicking things that I'd like you to consider. I believe it was the 4 minute mile that was thought to be impossible before Roger Bannister finally broke the barrier. The other accomplishments pale in comparison to landing on the moon. For that achievement, we became extraterrestrials, setting us on a course to the stars and a quantum leap from discovering nuclear energy. I can't place bottled water has some kind of achievement overcoming all odds. The earliest civilizations stored water in terra-cotta bottles 8000 years ago. From goatskin bags, to canteens, carrying water was essential for those who hunted and gathered, and couldn't find water for days. Bottled water is similar to the discovery of fire in that regard. As for the modern bottled water, while it may be lifeblood to parts of the world that no longer have any clean, potable water to drink, the commercial bottled water we have is a bane to society. Bottled water in plastic bottles is very expensive, and proven to be no better, and, in many cases, worse, than water from municipal water supplies and tested wells. The cast-off bottles pollute our streets and communities, and end up in the water and are washed to the sea, adding to the buildup of plastic clogging our oceans and killing birds, mammals and fish in untold numbers just for our convenience and wasteful lifestyles. I get along fine without ever drinking and carrying with me a plastic water bottle. Ron

I wish Mom had a computer, I think (Short Story) - 6/12/2011 9:43:09 AM
I must read this poem, lol. Let me go read it now.

A lady commented in her blog ... (Short Story) - 6/12/2011 9:37:08 AM
The lady should know that two wrongs don't make a right. And has she prayed for a man who will treat her right? Great write, Tony. Blessings, Sandie.

Holiday Hints (Short Story) - 12/12/2010 7:38:03 AM
Thanks for the advice, Tony. I enjoyed the humor and promise not to wrap hugs. I plan to deliver them personally. :) Donna

Son, have you prayed about it? (Short Story) - 12/11/2010 11:32:24 AM
Wow! All in one breath? My late mother used to ask the same question of us children. Sometimes, she would suggest, "Let's pray right now." And she did, no matter if she were home or in the grocery store. She walked that closely with Him. I respected her stance and your title drew my attention. Incidentally, Do you still take your mom's advice and pray before every decision? I must say I'm guilty of remembering every time, but my baby sister sure has jumped on the band wagon. She's married and she and her spouse practice this very model. I know to wait about three day before I receive an answer from them - just about anything. So who's right? Just asking.

The Attraction Equation (Short Story) - 4/27/2010 4:45:26 PM

A lady commented in her blog ... (Short Story) - 10/11/2006 3:10:29 AM
After reading your write, I had many thoughts...for what the lady said about treating all men like trash...well we can't judge all people according to one or two persons are correct my friend about our nation being founded on God, this is true and yes we are fighting against the principalities of the enemy Satan. It is not a perfect world nor ever has it been since Eve took the bite of the forbidden fruit. We were put here for a purpose, and war is a part and fulfillment of the Bible, the signs are all around us...everywhere if people will take their blinders off...but people do not want to see the truth or face it, just as they didn't want to believe it when Noah warned them about the flood, or when the city of Sodum and Gamorah was destroyed, our time is quickly coming to a close and it is our choice if we want to waste it and focus on the negative or try to still find what good is left in the human race and press on toward a better life later...I choose to keep on living one day at a time, pray much for myself, family, neighbors and our country, meditate, write, work, read my bible, I guess I ramble on too! Blessings from Kentucky, Joyce Bowling

Short Love Perspective (Here I Am) (Poetry) - 2/20/2014 9:09:28 AM
A very thoughtful and mature view of what a relationship should be. However, I am going to have to turn down the invitation in the last paragraph because I'm strictly for the distaff and not wishing to link up with any guy anytime soon. Ron

Short Love Perspective (Here I Am) (Poetry) - 2/19/2014 10:02:21 PM
Tony, You got it right. Lovemaking is every word we say to each other and also sadly the potential of deeper passions that are lost as we neglect to listen, engage, give, receive and basically understand who we are and who our perspective partners are. Sadly, I used to be guilty of this and eventually Jesus showed me what real love is all about. A GREAT write Tony. A GREAT write...

Everything Is You (Poetry) - 12/24/2013 12:37:53 PM
This one is lost and will never return. The good thing here is that this would make a great song if you took some of the stanzas and created a refrain. Otherwise, like I always say… Time to move on. Ron

Everything Is You (Poetry) - 12/24/2013 9:44:25 AM
Love is a many splintered thing!

Everything Is You (Poetry) - 12/24/2013 1:28:27 AM
Well done with romantic relationship poetic flair Tony. The title says it all. Yes, we would do anything and everything for that special woman. Why don't they know that? Then again, do we really want them to know that? That's the mystery of it all. That thing called love. It should be so easy but then when we seem have it all figured out, we really don't... Have a Merry Christmas Tony beyond your wildest dreams! Amen...

Ladies your attention please, ladies ... ladies (Poetry) - 2/1/2010 1:03:44 AM
I don't know if one would consider me beautiful, most the time I don't really care, as life is just so full of responsibility, one hardly has the time to consider..We just throw on the makeup on the way out the door, hope to of covered the dark circles through lack of sleep, age, stress, all that lovely stuff!! As for special favours, pffft this is the 21st century, women don't get special favours for anything. In fact u get knocked flying in public places if your not careful..Smaller communites are a little more apt to hold a door for you, when the blue moon shines.. No, gone are the days of chivalry Gone are the days of women being revered as anything special..Unless you're lucky enough to of found the one in a million decent fellow.. Beautiful women, that are beautiful on the inside as well as the outside, scarcely get a break, but beautiful women who are wonderful to look at on the outside only...They seem to land on all four paws nicely. That sum it up Tony? Thanks for your survey, sorry I am so hard on the opposite sex..I've reason enough to be for a while I think. Cheers CP

I tink everybody feels this way from time to time. As if you're doing, saying or feeling something that no one on the outside understands. So one of you is trying to conform in one way or another. Seems everybody has a version of this struggle. Life is a series of goals and obstacles. You just have to keep creating a new way to overcome.

You were made for me (Poetry) - 12/5/2007 7:33:13 PM
Precious! There are very few non-poets that grasp the beauty of poetry, that is very sad, because we really can't talk to non-poets because they can't get where we are comin from, we are truly not of this world, we live in the kingdom of fantasy, a most beautiful place to dwell! This was a beautiful Love Offering! SC

Hard to find (Poetry) - 11/30/2007 3:25:41 PM
No one really knows what love really is, that's why love is impossible to find. I refuse to quest for it anymore, for it does not exist for me, so I will quest for inner peace and leave love to the dreamers! Another beautiful, sad write from you! SC

His Sin (Poetry) - 11/30/2007 2:59:56 PM
So beautifully worded and expressed! Most men have no clue as to how to love a woman. A woman, to most men is just a booty call or a Mama replacement. A real woman needs a real man, not a troubled little boy hidin in a man's body! I adore yore poetry! SC

Hard to find (Poetry) - 11/30/2007 4:38:30 AM
Why in deed is love so hard to find? Wonderful read. Dee

The way you love (Poetry) - 10/16/2006 3:43:03 PM
Sorry, I read the review & truly had to admit; like Edwin, the blanks take away from the real meaning of what you're trying to say... Fill in the blanks...

The way you love (Poetry) - 10/16/2006 2:55:55 PM
Nice!...I think the long and the short blanks represents how you sing the word "love", a long blank means that you'll sing the word love in a longer breath; and the shorter blank means that you'l sing that word "love" in a shorter breath. Hope I got this right! Sandie Angel a.k.a. Sandie May Angel :o)

The way you love (Poetry) - 10/16/2006 2:20:50 PM
I guess I don't get it...Is it 'fill in the blanks' or what?

It is difficult to take the plunge again when the last time we did we landed in shark infested waters, but life is for loving and the sense of elation we have when we are in love by far surpasses any pain we have over the losses. Beautiful poem, Tony. Take care, Sherry

Holy Shit! if you don't mind me expressing my real feelings Tony~ This song/ poem is So Beautiful, you brought tears streaming from my eyes! Do something important with this one, I feel it deeply. You must and it's a Spiritual plea! You can't forget... I hope happiness and Love and peace find you and keep your heart warm! Remember! If you had it once! That is a Blessing! to have it again, you can learn from what didn't work. I 've been there to be able to say that willingly! I wish you happiness and no pain, but for every pain we experience- A Growth and strength and Wiseness is not far behind! I will wipe my tears now! when I was invincible (Poetry) - 8/27/2006 11:23:06 AM
Yes, i think most of us thought this way in our teen years, then something big happens that ejects us back to reality and we realize that all this posturing is not nearly as important as the things that matter, like family, love, etc. Good flow.
