An outstanding article! Fine writing on an interesting topic. Controlling personalities are generally immature people who view the world through a very self-centered filter...basically "Hooray for me, and the heck with everyone else."

I loved the title of this article & I thought the entire thing was very expressive. You are so brave to open your work up like this. I admire your dedication & your ability to keep a positive attitude!My only quibble was the reliance on cliches. Speak with your own voice, so it sounds more real, more your own words, to avoid triteness. Have you done a poem with this title? I think the entire piece could be converted into an excellent poem. Especially the 4th & 5th paragraphs. I like the sound of satiate the soul with inspiration! Thanks again for letting me read your work.
By the way there are two books on writing that you may enjoy, from two very different writers. One - On Writing, by Stephen King, is surprisingly good (& non-scary) & more of a memoire (sp?). The other, titled, Blood on the Forehead : What I Know About Writing by M. E. Kerr, is more directed at young adult writers, but I think it might have some insights for you. Kerr has written mainly for teenagers & tackled some difficult subjects -- everything from teen love (& disappointment), mysteries, jealousy, having a famous relative to lesbianism. She's also done several novels about war from a teenager's perspective - the Gulf War, as well as revisitng nazi/Jewish issues from WWII.

I loved your message of encouragement to your own soul. I can visualize the uncapping of all fears, anxities, anticipations, and joyful expectations. Go on girl and stir up the God given talents that were laid in your bosom from the time you entered your mother's womb. I rejoice with you in your new found freedom to be the person that God designed you to be.

The opening stanza is very descriptive and yet at the same time allows the ready to understand what flying south depicts. Very light on the eyes and deep in the heart. I'm sure your friend is looking down with smiling eyes. J.
