The Veteran (Poetry) - 2/13/2012 5:46:07 AM
Elizabeth: The Veteran was my Father who fought in World War II. The Veteran was my Brother who gave his life in Vietnam and to-date is listed as MIA. Iím blessed to have had a father and a brother who faced danger of conflict with courage in-order to preserve the right of people to remain free. I will always be indebted to their bravery and selfless devotion.
God Bless You,
The Veteran (Poetry) - 2/12/2012 9:14:58 AM
This lot, now consisting of both men and women, often go into service for multiple reasons that have nothing to do with defending the country. Many also believe that they are invincible. That they will succeed in combat and nothing will happen to them.
On the other hand, when faced with combat, particularly the type that happens today with ambush at every hand and an unseen enemy, the toll on the psyche is great. Warriors are more wounded when they come back than victorious.
I can't see the skirmishes in Iraq and Afghanistan as saving us from anything like our battle with Hitler and fortunately, Cold War with the Soviet Union. Small actions, like the Navy SEALs killing Osama bin Laden are far more important than beating up on small nations.
Thanks to the Internet and its freedom of information, many small nations are becoming more democratic every day. We do not have to invade Iran for it to become free from tyranny. The process is underway in Iran right now and will happen with or without America's intervention.
I still admire our troops what they do. I feel sorry for what happens to them after their service.

A great family and sticking together for each other after all you have been through. I feel so grateful for this write, it makes me think that I surely have enough of God's love to spread it around too.

Can You See Them? (Poetry) - 3/2/2007 6:59:12 PM
How sweet this is Elizabeth, and how well I know that feeling of anticipation of the happy little faces. I don't have grandchildren, but I do have grand nieces and nephews and I feel the very same way about them. Very nice poem.
A Calling From God (Poetry) - 2/14/2007 12:57:47 PM

A Calling From God (Poetry) - 2/1/2007 4:51:28 PM
Fear not what others say dear girl. Put your trust in Him, and in Him alone. Listen to the still small voice for it will be He who is talking to you.

A Calling From God (Poetry) - 10/2/2006 10:11:22 PM
In this world with all its glamor and noise you are fortunate to hear His calling as few are listening these days. God bless you.
A Calling From God (Poetry) - 10/2/2006 7:41:11 PM
A good portrayal of the struggle within, culminating in gladly taking that GIFT. It isn't always easy to speak for the Lord, but you understand the power behind submitting to Him.
Dad's Pipe (Poetry) - 8/11/2006 6:09:11 PM
Isn't it odd, how a mundane object can bring
back so many memories? I loved having my Mom's
coat, which kept the smell of her cologne and
cigarettes for a while. It was so comforting.
