You Have Been Given A Purpose Driven Life (Article) - 2/25/2010 9:26:52 AM
I expressed my view of the purpose of life in a poem here:
http://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewPoetry.asp?AuthorID=123331
I believe everyone has precisely the same purpose of life - the fundamental thing life on this whirling space pebble should accomplish.
We look at a fact, derive meaning, assess value, determine mission, and realize purpose, IN THAT ORDER, if we want to get it right.
I shall discuss all of those in a future article.
Feel free to respond.

Heaven Without Religion (Article) - 10/20/2008 10:27:30 AM
Interesting, perceptive and thoughtful write Roy. Religion would be fine if people accepted it as you suggest but unfortunately, religious organizations, big churches and generations of brainwashed people think their faith - be it evangelical Chritianity, Islan, Latter Day Saints, Mormans, or whatever has the truth and the rest of the world are infidels or lost souls. For this reason, religion now poses a serious threat to civilization - especially fundamental Islam who may soon control nuclear weapons. Have you seen the movie Religilous with Bill Maher? It is a thoughtful look at religion by an agnostic. Religion is not all bad by any means but unfortunately it is out of control and therefore I am inclined to agree with Christopher Hitchens who says Religion poisons everything, and Richard Dawkins who says religion is a delusion. All the best, Malcolm Watts
Illness and Healing are Just a Thought Away (Article) - 2/3/2008 7:41:06 PM
Good article and thoughtfully presented. Here are three observations to add to your own. (1) In the workplace, employee illness seems to be their response to change (stress). (2) The healthiest person I have ever known was Swami Paramahansa Muktananda, who taught Siddha Yoga at an ashram out in Campbell, California. "Baba" was always jolly and up-tempo (I don't think he ever slept), and he was never sick until simple old age took him home. His teachings were about centering yourself within the oneness of you/universe/god. (3) I am 67 years old, have eaten junk food all my life, have never followed any exercise or dietary regimens, but I have not seen a medical doctor since I was 19 years old (auto accident) because I simply never get sick. Life is good.
I am glad to see that New Age is alive and well. Good stuff, Roy!

New Age (Article) - 2/3/2008 7:03:10 PM
Big 10-4 on this, Roy. As you say, New Age has grown comfortable with itself and has become a cash cow for some. I have watched this happen at Esalen Institute and in Sedona. But the beauty of New Age thought is that it is constantly becoming, and those who are herding the cash cows will be shunned by all but their groupies. Das ist sehr gut. Very nicely expressed, Roy. Right on. Write on!

The End of Selfless (Article) - 2/9/2007 7:04:45 AM
Yes most of us are taught to be selfless and some of us are afflicted with altruism. It'a a sad thing when you wake up later in life and realize you have lost yourself while sacrificing who you are for others. I appreciate this informative and well penned article.
