People Watching! (Short Story) - 6/6/2011 3:05:58 AM|
Written adeptly, crafted to give the reader a glimpse of obvious sadness, yet hope, too, as our voyeur sees and feels the love around him. I especially love the line here, "When they left he would not exist for them or them for him ...". That's one of those lines I will forever wish I had thought of first. Excellence in writing, Steve.

Steve, this is a wonderful poem, based on a brilliant idea -- to write letters to one's self through the years. I'm so impressed!

Latin Comfort (Poetry) - 2/12/2007 10:02:25 PM
Enjoyable though taboo...according to who decides.
"Who used who in this sordid story?
A fair exchange is no robbery
She left with a smile upon her face
Gift of your scent on my pillow case"
Wonderfully written, detailed, emotional and well received.

What is a Man? (Poetry) - 12/10/2006 6:57:52 AM
I am fast becoming a fan of your work, Steve. You write in a romantic, introspective style which I truly enjoy. This poem is no exception and it has been a pleasure to read.
Which way now? (Poetry) - 12/8/2006 10:05:16 AM
Although this poem is written by a man, it seems to me it could be regarded from the POV of either sex? The content of this poem's so called battle of the sexes is rather cynical and jaded, and, quite rightly so. "Which Way Now?" describes the gaping differences between men and women, and the last verse seems to sum, up the modern day lack of romanticism between the sexes. I still feel that Steve Scrivens's poetry would make profound song lyrics.
Which way now? (Poetry) - 12/8/2006 4:43:47 AM
Y ou will find love....Hugssssssssss
What is a Man? (Poetry) - 12/7/2006 8:43:57 PM
You pose many questions that are not only universal but also eternal. This world has never really changed, only the gadgets have changed. Emotions have remained practically the same. Victor
Which way now? (Poetry) - 12/7/2006 8:37:06 PM
There will always be extremes in this world. Give an inch and you loose a foot. Charm is now dead. Love a thing of the past, but not for all. You just have to find true love. Victor
What is a Man? (Poetry) - 12/7/2006 3:37:43 PM
I don't as a rule read modern day poetry, but I think this poem could also be adapted for song lyrics, as seeminly unusal for modern day poetry, it actually rhymes systematically. Also, it's quite unusual (?) that this poem from a dame's POV is convincingly written by a man.
A Moment of Doubt (Poetry) - 12/6/2006 4:56:01 AM
The fault was with me.
There is NO fault..just LIFE in action!
Lost In Transition (Poetry) - 12/6/2006 4:54:47 AM
Every Love takes your Higher
Indeed no one comes into our life-scenario on a whi,--there is NO coincidence..we live and learn..mostly we learn what LOVE is!
Great piece thankyou Steve!
Two Roads (Poetry) - 12/6/2006 4:52:27 AM
Have made all the difference
..do you REALLY think so?
hmm..I'd say all is well jusr as it is..her choices have brought you to where you are right NOW!..You are on the road to YOURSELF..great venture indeed..
Only Connect (Poetry) - 12/6/2006 4:49:23 AM
Only Connect! Fuse our words with desire
Only Connect! Exalt our Love - add more fuel to its' fire
Only Connect! Seize the moment - breathe in the air
Only Connect! Be not fragmented - be with me there
..this last stanza could be a poem all on its own..splendid work..nice to see men's thoughts are akin to women afterall! Yes!!!
Two Roads (Poetry) - 12/5/2006 2:33:10 PM
Your work lays bare those paths, Steve, and examines the choices made and the bigger picture of all the "what ifs". It is strongly visual, I find, and like tracks on the ground that are all at once covered by leaves in autumn, and yet the skies overhead are clear and free from obstruction as the branches of trees are now stripped. Well, this is a "picture response" to your work here, but I greatly enjoyed the clarity that enabled me to see this. Thanks too, for your appreciation of my work: all my prose-bites are cameos and never worked into anything longer or sequential... as yet!! :)) K xx

Two Roads (Poetry) - 12/5/2006 4:08:43 AM
Parting is always difficult and heart rending. It could lead to hatred too, although this does not seem to be the case in your poem. Still as you rightly said, things will never be the same. Well written poem. Victor
Walk On By (Poetry) - 12/3/2006 11:10:27 AM
Yes we all walk by. Pity that we only help those who don't really need it, and forget those in real need. You descibe the right Christmas spirit. Victor
