This is a great "first person" history of the 1850s through the eyes of a tavern owner. Mr. Osterberg writes with humor and authority. His remarks and funny and/or biting. Reading this book is to stand in a barrom in 1850 with "Silas" talking to you. I loved the recipes and the historic information.
