Who Is Your God? (Article) - 4/23/2011 5:00:11 AM
1974 was another dangerous year for Filipinos who spoke their minds against Martial Law, the Marcoses and their friends. Fr. JJ was among those who were the first to openly criticize powerful people with this sermon.

ON Father NING PUENTEVELLA, SJ’sBOOK-LAUNCHING (Article) - 3/13/2010 1:01:41 AM
Brilliant, a masterpiece, another one of the masterpieces of Fr. JJ! Fr. JJ, You touched about religious vocation- heeding God's call to leave everything- home and everything familiar not knowing what is in store for you. Answering God's call is indeed a leap of faith. And to remain faithful and ever trusting that God is true to His part of the deal till the end no matter what and how is a grace. I never met Fr. Ning in person, but reading your article, I met him. Wow, am I glad that I met Father Ning but first of all that I met you Father JJ, in your Yayee Series. (Father JJ, this is to be continued next time I come to the internet cafe) Sorry, Apo JJ, it took me days to be able to come back here. Thank you for the many people you made me encounter through your writings such as Karina and Ermin Garcia, "Yayee", Joey Velasco, etc. Even those long dead are alive in your writings and you make them touch lives like mine. Keep on writing, Father. That part of one of your Yayee Books: "Awanin Ngem Adda Pay" attracted my attention more than the other parts of the book. Siyempre Ilocano eh. I won't say "Awanin maibagak" ta adu ti maibagak to pay, Father. God bless you always.

Poopoo Jayjay (Article) - 5/6/2006 9:31:05 PM
very simple style of the realization in seeing the beauty of God in every human soul. If we only open our eyes, we can see and recognize thru our faith that God takes many forms it's up to us to acknowlege Him.

Behind The Arab Veil (Article) - 3/23/2004 6:07:44 PM
I had the good fortune to know many Jews and Arabs while living in Miami. I noticed that many of them were on friendly terms. I was told that as long as they were in America they had no problems being friends, but in the Middle East it was a matter of pride and territory. I was treated well by both groups of people. It is a shame that they cannot come to some lasting peace in the Middle East. However, that doesn't meant that anyone should give up on them. I appreciate the comments in your article. It shows great understanding on your part. Very insightful and informative.

Behind The Arab Veil (Article) - 7/25/2003 3:52:14 AM
It is nice to know that there are people who are able to see who the veiled women really are. They try to know whho they are and do not judge them by what they hear about them... More power to you father JJ!!!

A Letter To Suzanne (Article) - 5/8/2003 4:04:50 AM
Arsenio, I am compelled to respond, but words simply fail... (I have written some poetry and posted it to the den as 'Gaye Dale') and one thing I hope and pray as I write, is that within the words, as people read, there is a quickening, or catylistic spark that will evoke a response within the secret centre of peoples lives that will somehow connect an identity or conviction of some kind. - Of course it is my hope that in some way, some how, they will be blessed, or enriched, or in some way 'added' to, by it. Your writing here was that for me. I have a close and beautiful relationship with my own dear Mum, but I have a young daughter (8 years old) whom I can see echoes of 'Your Suzanne' in and your evocative writing was a stark reminder of how important it is to tend, nurture and constructively study our relationships and constantly build into them whatever that is, which is good and right and true, as a deposit of something that will grow and bring many of us joy some day, in some season, in the future. Thank you for sharing this emotional and clearly heart wrenching cry of a Fathers heart. This was oddly, profoundly beautiful...

A Letter To Suzanne (Article) - 5/8/2003 12:54:01 AM
Thanks for writing this great article. Only great people ever wrote great article; you are great. Your article reminds me to the saying of the Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessingn be upon him) about the small sings before the day of resurrection that a man would be loyal to his friends and disrespectful to his own parents.

A Letter To Suzanne (Article) - 5/7/2003 11:53:56 AM
That was very emotional. It's a very, very big eye-opener.

I'm reminded by that line in the Bible which says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock." Here is God's softest yet most irresistible call to the human heart.

In response to this poem, I'd like to say to God, "You are the Potter; I am the clay! Mold me and make me to be the person whom You want me to become!" I'm still waiting for you to publish here your article "YAYEE - The Wind Beneath My Wings" and "Who Is Your God?" (good for me as a reflection starting point!)
