Why is He Different (Book) - 12/28/2006 4:48:17 PM
We need more of this kind of book for our kids...kudos to you for writing it! My only concern was with the introduction, where it said that an adolescent boy was in the first grade. My first thought was why would ANYONE keep a boy going through puperty in first grade, no matter WHAT his disability was. I know this was more common many years ago, but thought it didn't happen anymore. I am sure that when I read the book, that I will find that Kyle is indeed only six or seven like the other first graders...
Author of "Knowing Joseph" and "It's Time" (also about children learning about autism and other disabilities.)
Life shouldn't be so hard. (Article) - 6/25/2011 8:07:56 PM
Great read and I can kinda relate to this story as I encountered some bullies in my high school years and my shell was my comfort zone. I was also bullied because they judged me before they knew me. I wore nice clothes and my mother was a beautician and she kept my hair styled in all of the lastest hair styles. I had an aunt that was a manager of Palais Royal and a Godmother that was a great seamstress and between the nice clothing and the hairstlyes they hated me in school. I had a handsome boyfriend and often our relationship was compromised by the haters so we eventually broke up. It hurt but I kept moving forward. I was determined to not let no one still my joy and before long, I didn't care what people said or what they thought. I was gonna be me! That's when I began to come out of my shell. I enjoyed this and it's ironic I also wrote an article with nearly the same title. Stop by my den and check me out sometime. Remember life is what you make it! :)
Abuse of the Flesh (Poetry) - 12/19/2006 8:33:29 AM
Battered and abused children is a pet peeve of mine, beside being against the law. America is way too soft of pedofiles and/or abusers of childen of any kind. Nice work . . .
