Illegal Aliens Explained in English (Short Story) - 8/22/2010 11:10:17 PM
Clear as a bell, Karen. There is no such thing as illegal immigrants. There are only two correct names for people who enter a country illegally... Spies or Invaders.

Illegal Aliens Explained in English (Short Story) - 7/22/2010 9:50:26 AM
You forgot the part where Jose Illegal sends his money back to family in Mexico. I'm a 3rd generation Mexican-American, yet I know many illegals. True many of them don't really care about America, abuse the state and federal welfare and funding system, and are here simply to earn money. Yet some legal citizens do the same exact things.

What a horrible time you went through in you mind til you knew he was home and safe. I would not have liked to be in your shoes. I have noone in the war, and am glad. I sympathize with you and how you feel though. I feel the same way, war is useless and as for weapons of mass destruction? I hardly believe it yet. War is a mess and a disgrace in my mind. I yourn for peace and soon.

We are at the mercy of the "Ruling Class", of which, Walmart with its billions is a player. It sort of reminds one of the almighty industrialists at the turn of the twentieth century. Those good ole boys could actually have a troublesome employee "eliminated", especially a union organizer. However, Walmart is only one of thousands that insist we remain mere throwaways; evidence of this may be seen at our Southern border every night and in virtually every city across the country.

And this is the funnest time of year to be in Bullhead City too (I was there two weeks ago). I've had an ongoing dislike of WalMart (low prices because they screw everybody, from the seven year old kid who is tied to a loom in Asia all the way to the cashier who rings you up.) I've been boycotting them for several years just on prinicple (I know people who shop there by absolute necessity because they are very poor and can't afford much else-- but we aren't that poor-- at least not yet.) With your permission (my email is no_draft at yahoo dot com) I'd like to write another WalMart post using your situation as an example. (blog posts I've written on WalMart: http://tiodt.blogspot.com/2006/10/fines-just-another-way-to-do-business.html http://tiodt.blogspot.com/2006/07/attorney-general-sues-wal-mart-for.html http://tiodt.blogspot.com/2006/04/wal-mart-hiring-ethics-director.html http://tiodt.blogspot.com/2006/01/always-low-prices-low-standards.html Thank you in advance.

Thank heavens your son is o.k, and yes Ms. Smith is a bozo for not realizing America is free so we can each have our 'own opinions'. To think that we don't have a right to our own opinions is to sadly join all the other 'fanatics' in the world. I respect you for bravely sharing yours...

It's amazing how simple advertisers make connecting sound! When I went back to college, I took a couple online classes thinking...wow this is going to be simple! Being hardware illiterate my easy English class quickly turned into computer repair 101! I too replaced my hard drive...got a new connection and actually taught myself in that first semester, how to repair my pc. Now I have 2 semesters left at a local community college and I'll have a degree in Computer Information Systems. All the information I've been taught is outdated, yet the web if used properly and with patience offers more than my teachers ever could!

I have seen many conflicts in my lifetime. Hungary, Ireland, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam to name a few. I know the fear and the anger. The pain of losing a loved one. Whereas the current US administration has not learned from Vietnam, That ideals cannot win against ideology. Let not the public forget the fate of the Asian Veteran, where they blamed the soldier instead of the Politician, this time we should give all of our support to the fighting men and women who have answered their country's call, that they shall never know the isolation experienced by other Veterans. I stretch my hand out to all who suffer as you do and pray for peace. Robin

Interesting and thought povoking. Alzado is an interesting story too, as mentioned by J. Michael Kearney. I thought I met his spitting image, doo-rag and all, in a dance club in the 90's. Turns out to be Alzado's brother, who was going around the country to all the high schools preaching about the dangers of steroid use. Lyle's brother, as a side-note as told by him to me, played guitar on Robert John's hit song "Sad Eyes", on which he said John made a fortune!

Health Care? WHERE is it ? (Article) - 2/24/2011 9:34:54 AM
Have we lived beyond extinction? Have we lived beyond longevity ? Is our DNA required for rebirth ? Are plans in place to enhance QUALTY for longevity of seniors? The answers is yes to the first 3, and no to the last one. The Republicans want to destroy further what little health care (if you can call it that) that we have. Wisconsin is in turmoil because of Gov. Scott Walker making demands he will not cede. All the states that have elected Republican governors are now seeing what their vote has gotten us. I vote according to my conscience, and my conscience has alway told me that the Republican party is not good for America, and now they are proving it. They want the rich stay richer, they want companies to have tax breaks while these same Republicans want to tax our social security that many of you have worked all of your lives to get, and the disability which I am forced to be one because of my health. Have we lived beyond extinction? Have we lived beyond longevity ? Is our DNA required for rebirth ? Are plans in place to enhance QUALTY for longevity of seniors? The answer is yes to the first 3, and no to the last one. Thank you for sharing. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Hoover,Truman & Eisenhower & Roosevelt in 1907 (Article) - 5/22/2010 5:05:14 PM
I have to agree. The illegals are taking up our jobs. And do not give me that crap about citizens not wanting landscaping garbage pick ups and the like If they were avaiable to our citizens they would take those jobs. And shame on the people who hire them for minimal salaries. If you are in Phoenix go to Hatcher Road, and Cave creek, there are at least 100 illegals picked up by americans for less then minimum wages.

Hoover,Truman & Eisenhower & Roosevelt in 1907 (Article) - 5/21/2010 12:35:45 AM
Indeed, that was when we had an American government with an American as President. We have to start by first deporting the illegals in Washington, D.C.

Write on!!! Such strong articles on truth should be posted like these! In our country priests have fathered children among young girls and have even kept concubines in apartments, I know - he lived with her next door to us! Shameless gall. The victims are innocent youth serving as sacristan and church cleaners, sad but true. One priest got stabbed to death by his male partner after the youth got so p....d off by his advances. Then they say mass like nothing's wrong.(yuk!) Cynthia

Lexus SC300 - # 1 Computerized Death Trap UPDATE: JUNE 2005 (Article) - 8/10/2008 4:07:16 PM
You, my lady, are horribly mistaken and wildly idiotic. I have owned two of these cars so far and have never had intentional failure from Lexus parts. Both have almost reached 200,000 miles. These cars are equipped with many different ECUs, and the lighter ECU is not connected to the engine ECU by any means; so this leaves only your engine ECU going bad, not a "built in obsolescence" as you put it. These things just go bad over time as any part on a car. It may have been other parts of your car as well, such as a bad alternator, battery, cap/rotors, etc. So before you start ranting and raving, do some research and learn a little about your car before you drive it. You may have learned that the check engine light was on because the engine was not running and the key was in the "on" position, which it always is and that starting the car with that will not "blow up" the car.

I like our new casino that opend here in PA. iT IS CALLED LITTLE HOLLYWOOD> wENT to it 8 times but didn't spend much or win much. My daughter Kathy won $200.00 her first time there. I used to go to Atlantic City but finances at this point don't allow going there often. I do love to see the ocean and find peace and forget my worries there though.

Lexus SC300 - # 1 Computerized Death Trap UPDATE: JUNE 2005 (Article) - 11/13/2007 7:00:13 AM
I am the CEO for one of the largest specialist Lexus repairer in Australia and worked for Lexus automotive in Japan for 11 years. I know for a definite fact that no such 'obsolete function' is inbuilt in any Lexus vehicle. No such technology exists. I don't know who you spoke to at Tampa Lexus or what they actually told you, but it is false. A vehicle with 110,000 miles on it is bound to present a fault, yours just happened to be a large one and a Lexus is never an cheap car to fix, full stop. Quality parts will equal expensive repair, it happens. There's no conspiracy and ECU (the brain as you put it) is not the least common problem with technology that was at the time, quite experimental. You put it as you saw it, but unfortunately this is incorrect.

Michael Jackson - Good Bye STAR (Article) - 4/27/2007 2:05:34 PM
Michael Jackson's so called eccentricities are the guise of a pedophile. If he had acted normal, as a normal forty year old man, we would have been known him for what he was years ago when he was first called to task for sleeping with a little boy. Every thing the "poor Baby" has done to make us believe he is searching for a childhood lost is just a pedophile's deception. He should be in prison, along with Robert Blake and OJ Simpson.

So...I now see I am not the only one who sees the idiocy in all this...pleading for a country like Haiti which will squander and waste it all away while we ignore the poor, the elderly and the destitute here at home. Did we not already send relief to take care of the basic human needs?

Either way...you are a sight for sore eyes as I have not seen you in quite some time...I have been away for far too long and too often I suppose. Dr. House is correct...everybody lies, however one must ask WHY? For the worst one is when we lie to ourselves...when we do not have the answers.

Big Mistake? What's Your Take? (Poetry) - 10/19/2010 9:04:49 AM
This wasn't funny though Karen. Because those of us who have moved from state to state or from one continet to another experiences these frustrations. Beer may be good for you from a food pov, but the alcohol will damage the liver. I personally cannot stand the taste of beer, but a good goblet of wine with dinner now and then is nice. I can't have anyalcohol really, because of my heart meds. This rant has a message to it. What we have in this great country of ours is the irrevocable right to speak freely on any subject. I think that this should maybe be sent as it is to President Obama addressed to both him and Michelle. This is a subject though that will get blood boiling and emoitons heated. Child Molester :What's a Victim of Catholic Molestation to Do (Poetry) - 7/11/2009 12:37:33 AM
Dear Karen, Your writing struck an emotional chord---my brother was abused by a priest... and I was fortunate to help him uncover the ugly mess. The fundamental irony was the whole legal and civil process---the very legal system of checks and balances that serves to protect the innocent, woefully does not---almost like a proverb. We may forgive, but forgetting is a nightmare. Aloha, Myles Saulibio Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

I rate this a 10 out of 10 and thank you so much for writing this out and sharing it with us. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

God Bless America and OBAMA (Poetry) - 1/31/2009 1:00:43 AM
I would say: When any president respects and obeys the Constiution, he will demand the same respect from Congress, and then a legal government will deliver what a Nation must have. This is not a THEOCRATIC NATION, it is a Republic, and its HOLY BOOK is THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. May we all respect the Constitution of USA, and see to it that every offficer of government and Congress do the same or be REMOVED. I thank You for this magnificent writing. In admiration, Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU

great write, but I believe there is a special house where Bush should reside, need a hint? It is not white and bars on the windows instead of the gates.

Good Bye Bushwacker (Poetry) - 1/21/2009 11:08:52 AM
I too hope he rides into the sunset, blinded by the lies and deceit he perpetrated on a great nation, strong words but well deserved, and as you said may he share the company of those he so emulated, good by Mr. Bushler. Blessings! Jasmin Horst

What is going on AMERICA? DePReSSioN (Poetry) - 11/13/2008 10:11:29 AM
Yes, it is difficult to keep an open mind when we are being shot at with unverified untruths in an attempt to influence minds--after all, where is the time to check all of this 'junk' flying our way to see what's real and what isn't when most of it is "c--p". Now that Obama is our next president, I want to wait and see what he does. Give him a chance. There is so little known about him that we really have no idea what this man is going to do. The environment he grew up in was so different from that of most whites and blacks: he had a white mother and was abandoned by his father early on. His white working class grandmother and grandfather, a veteran of WWII that served in Patton's army, raised him. What are his values: working class that pulled themslves with hard work up to become president of the United States. Abe Lincoln did that. Richard Nixon did too. A big contrast there. Time will tell us who Obama is. Let's hope he is a man with wisdom and that he knows how to use it for the overall good of us all.

A HUGE eye opener. All this useful information condensed into a small space. News we can all use and ponder over. Why? We can pray and hope for a better day. We can also vote with an awarness of who is right to represent our land. Happy 4th! John Michael

Arab Intelligence = Cause for Alarm  (Poetry) - 6/26/2008 3:23:16 AM
What happened then has caused what is still going on today. We are in a terrible world situation and don't know how it will end. Mighty bad powers to be are still succeeding.

Death's Sorrow - - Survivors' Shock (Poetry) - 5/26/2008 4:06:56 PM
True write and intensely wonderful write. We must be prepared for him when he calls on us and takes him home. Like this one.

Death - Vital Thorn - No Escape (Poetry) - 5/26/2008 4:05:29 PM
Liked the emblem to this poem. Short but satisfactory read, and death is final and there is not escaping it when God calls his ones home he wants to be with him. Thank you for this write. Tremenously explained so good too.**********

Hello Today (Poetry) - 5/26/2008 4:03:48 PM
Hello today to you too. I am getting better from my grieving and stronger each day, but it is hard. Memorial Day was another holiday to get through even though my hubby wasn't in the war. He always professed his patiotism though and would go out to the picnic table where he died early that Memorial Day and wait for me to take him to a parade and the cemetery. Now I go see him at cemetery and cry my heart out. He is missed so much but as you say Today is another day, and my fears should be going away.

Love - Ruby Embers (Poetry) - 5/24/2008 7:50:23 AM
Dreaming about love is so great a dream always. Remembering loves in a dream can be encouraging and push you forward until you actually do SCREAM. Sensuality is to be found in many dreams.

Marriage --- LET'S  (Poetry) - 5/24/2008 7:48:29 AM
My marriage to Tom was like that. Very much we talked things out always. Our lives were very peaceful even up to his death. He never complained. Just went on trying to please me. Communication was very necessary and open in our marriage. He died with dignity and was an excellent person to do for others and he loved people.

American's Daily Prayer (Poetry) - 5/24/2008 7:45:05 AM
Prayers are important part of life and starting them out young is a very nice thing to do. My cousin's grandson prays everynight with his father and does so for all family members having some problem. We need to take our problems to the Lord and he will sort them out and give us accordinly to his will. I have so much Faith in my Lord and Savior and pray so much for others to find it too.

Heaven (Poetry) - 5/22/2008 7:48:22 AM
See a picture of my Lord and Savior appear, I really took the test and this appeared. Amazingly. It is really so cool as you said. I do desire Heaven and to be free and calm and beyond these terrible happenings going about today. Prayers go with you sincerely.

Full Moon (Poetry) - 5/22/2008 7:45:52 AM
People do wild things on Full Moon nights. Laughed so much at photo even before Iread your write. Tonite is full moon here May 22 08 and I hope I stay sane. Can always tell when full moon because the loonies are out in full force. It is a shame, but that is the way it seems to be.

What is going on AMERICA? DePReSSioN (Poetry) - 5/22/2008 7:43:17 AM
God already knows whom he wants in. I only wish we knew who was the best person to vote for. We need more honesty and one who sees to USA first of all and its peoples living here.

Liar - (Poetry) - 5/16/2008 11:56:53 AM
It hurts to be left down by a liar. Too many can lie so easily. I know from experience that lies leave a great scar behind too. Sorry it did not turn out as supposedly to be. It is hard to trust again when lied too also.

HAPPY Mother's Day Grandmas! (Poetry) - 5/16/2008 11:55:01 AM
Being pampered by my granddaughter was a Mother's Day treat for me. She is so sweet a girl and only 13. Enjoy them while they are small cause they seem to be growning up fast these days. No ruffles when they reach a certain age either like us in our days. Cute pic of the 3 and to the beach you went I see.

Alert! Dallas/Ft. Worth - Remember (Poetry) - 2/29/2008 8:44:46 PM
I was watching the sky overhead when the Columbia blew up - saw this long jet trail - perfectly straight - all of a sudden it separated - that's the only explanation I have - went into more than one trail - NO SOUND - my twin sis, a block and a half away, was asleep and was awakened by a boom - didn't know what had happened until a customer came in and told me the horrible news - they warned us to avoid anything falling from the sky - it mostly fell in East Texas - nothing around here (live 12 miles due south of downtown Fort Worth). It was scary though, and these words bring back the fear, the sadness I felt - well done. (((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :(

1967 Kodiak Island, Alaska  (Poetry) - 2/29/2008 8:36:17 PM
Having always wanted to visit Alaska, you took me as close as I've been - beautifully imaged in verse - thank you, Karen - maybe one day I'll get to go there and see the Northern Lights!! Well done. (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Encourage Happy Holidays & Peace On Earth - HOPE (Poetry) - 2/29/2008 8:34:52 PM
Oh, if we would just extend the Holiday Spirit and Christmas Love all year 'round - what a better world this would be. The homeless and poor need food and shelter, the sick would love visitors, the elderly would love company, not just on certain days of the year, but every day - 24/7, 365 - trouble and illness don't stop, it happens every day - powerfully penned reminder - thank you, Karen, well done - (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Divorce -Indivisible LITTLE Child (Poetry) - 2/29/2008 8:31:44 PM
The children always suffer, most - powerfully penned sadness, Karen - well done. (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Saddam DID tell the TRUTH! (Poetry) - 2/29/2008 8:30:52 PM
Stirred up a whole lot of controversy with this one, didn't you, Karen? That's good - gets us thinking. What ticks me off more than anything - our men and women in uniform are getting charged with war crimes for killing civilians, and yet, the extremists (notice I did not say all) use their own women, children, elderly, disabled as bombs - their goal is to take out as many infidels (non believers) as they can - so some innocents get in the way, oops - seems like it to me - so they can go to Paradise and be attended to by 77 virgins - what does a child know of that??? Thought provoking, in any event, if a loaded gun - well done. (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

What is going on AMERICA? DePReSSioN (Poetry) - 2/29/2008 6:38:01 PM
My problem is politics as usual - they all say the same old thing, make the same tired promises to get voted in; once elected, they forget who put them there, whom they serve - if one person would actually keep his promises, then there could be change. I also hope people vote with their heads, and not their hearts or we'll be in more trouble than we already are - (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Full Moon (Poetry) - 1/24/2008 11:29:49 AM
I was drawn to this piece because i have a poem with the same title in my book. I think you captured mystery essense of those bright oval nights when the moon is stuffed with superstition. I like the last line the most because it brings the poem full circle like the shape of a full moon. Nice piece & Howllllllllll!

Divorce -Indivisible LITTLE Child (Poetry) - 12/6/2007 12:05:17 PM
Your poem is poignant. There is a lot of truth about selfish adults, those who try to spoil with too many gifts but can't give enough love, Court Orders that can be totally absurd... But then, in many cases divorce is the only solution and sometimes it also means a more peaceful environment and a safer life for some children. There are so many different cases, aren't there? Thank you Karen for making us think. Axilea

Full Moon (Poetry) - 11/27/2007 9:42:41 PM
This is very sweet and fun. At the same time... I believe that the full moon has an effect on me. I can't sleep well and feel very heavy. My daughter complains too! Yes, chemistry changes with the full moon! Axilea

2005 Dysfunctionality Reality Compounded by Katrina (Poetry) - 11/20/2007 10:20:13 PM
I have found this older poem, a revolted heart that expresses itself. Money is used for all the wrong things. Wasted. Young lives are wasted too. And the Earth is being destroyed. Who wins? That's a question we might ask ourselves. In friendship, Axilea

Omission is also a crime. Silence and tolerance are equal to consent and co-authorship. I admire Your Voice and Your courage to claim Justice. In the last three years over 335 priests were sent to jail for the same crime: "Child Molestation" and all related sexual abuse. Thank You for posting this alert. It is a true poetic task. Update 2-07 Stats::::Retirement/NON-Security/Death is there a Difference? (Poetry) - 12/23/2006 4:20:19 PM
Retirement can come for reasons that are not age related. Here in the UK life can be hard for the fallen from health. Sometimes being moderately intelligent can be a burden. There is a kind of shame in knowing that where one stands is nowhere at all and that a bleak future would be something better than no future. Merry Christmas (sincerely).

Update 2-07 Stats::::Retirement/NON-Security/Death is there a Difference? (Poetry) - 12/23/2006 4:02:00 PM
I must agree with Karen on this and it is not just United States issue, in Canada we are facing many of the same problems especially the retirees and pensioners who lose medical and dental programs when ill healt force them out of the workforce regardless of the number of years they have worked and paid into system. Suicide is supposedly not an answer but when all you have is taken away because you believed in your country and your gov't suicide starts to look just a little more appealing. Fee

Winter Woes of our Old (Poetry) - 12/23/2006 2:06:55 PM
It is truly sad the way governments bleed those who have come to their final years hopint to reap the rewards of their labour. I worked for my government for 30 years and now with heart problems and diabetes they tell me I can not work anymore while giving me a pension so small it won't pay my rent or pills. I guess charity does not start at home when it comes to government services. Fee

American's Daily Prayer (Poetry) - 12/23/2006 12:06:59 PM
Hi, Karen, This is a thought-provoking poem, encouraging us to pray more. I'm a firm believer in the power of prayer and this poem had PRAY in it nineteen times. WOW! I join with this author in praying for everyone, including our troops stationed around the world, AND for a Merry Christmas, surrounded by reminders of Jesus everywhere we look, AND for a Happy New Year for us all. Keep up the good writing, and slide down all the rainbows God grants you. Betty Dravis

Winter Woes of our Old (Poetry) - 12/23/2006 11:48:58 AM
Hi, Karen Gallo-Dunn, This is a well-written poem that seems to come from the soul of one who really cares about our elderly. I'm one of those elderly but still vibrant and active, thanks to God. But I know what you're saying about the sad condition of our System when it comes to social programs, especially for the more vulnerable elderly, not to mention our physically- and mentally-challenged citizens of all ages. Our cultural problems are growing worse, thanks to greedy politicians who are allowing more and more people into the already fragile SYSTEM. The children of the elderly who seem not to care are only part of the problem. I want to believe that the majority do care about their elderly parents. I feel that they are caught up in the same trap their parents are caught in: a government system that won't let people get ahead so that they are ill-equipped financially to help their parents, even when they want to. Too busy with their own families and the never-ending struggle to "make ends meet." This is a very sad poem that wiped the Christmas smile right off my face. But it's REALITY and we must face it. Perhaps this will inspire people to take second looks at themselves and help their parents more. ... Even if it's a personal sacrifice, the joy you give your parents will be worth it. As for our politicians: WE ELECTED THEM AND WE CAN FIRE THEM! We must all get on our soapboxes and write our legislators, encouraging them to improve Social Security and other social programs ... to write stronger laws to protect the vulnerable, ALL ill and elderly people of our society. Betty Dravis

This piece speaks volumes to me and countless others, to be sure. Dubya is single-handedly torpedo-ing theis country into the ground, and he obviously cares more about how HE looks rather than taking part in the building up and repair of the social ills of THIS country - the man who stole the Presidency from under its rightful heir. Don't get ME started! Marvelous piece - AMEN, my Sister in Democracy! RM Green

Saddam DID tell the TRUTH! (Poetry) - 11/6/2006 5:06:15 AM
And who is the self-appointed moral judge of the rest of the world, the nation that decides who should or shouldn't have naughty weapons of mass destruction???? The ONLY nation to have ever used one! The nation sitting on the BIGGEST stockpile of WMD, with space technology geared to killing! The NATION who regularly invades other nations and imposes its will ... in the name of freedom and overthrow of dictatorships! The GREEDIEST slurper-upper of the world's limited resources. The most aggressive big-business self-marketing corporation ever. If the US is a democracy, when will a poor and honest man be elected president, instead of a string of millionaire big-businessmen.

Charity begins at home. But there are times to help others when you're the worlds empire. Responsibility..But for me and my fellow country men. Clinton was the man. He hit an intelligent and wise balance. I notice on AD if you are not right wing, then you are thought of as wrong.. Never understood that...Living in Churchill country.. The bloke worries me. War at any cost.. Yet do not forget, IF we had not helped at 911, bush was so gun ho. Mr BLAIR cooled down a situation. The type here in England are used too... America is killing 2/3 of our world, yes our planet, yet refuses to acknowledge, because it will hurt the $ even more. It is only worth 50 pence now... Less when nature says so long america...

Ah, girl...you do see the big picture. Too many are caught up in his fundamentalist bullsh*t. And this is the guy who says 'God wants me to be president.' It is the same with his abortion bull. The first time a man has to have a baby will be the last discussion on the subject of men deciding when or if women will bear a child, especially when a MAN walks out on her to leave raising that child on her own. Tooth Faries Needed ASAP (Poetry) - 3/17/2006 1:47:08 AM
It is a disgrace how we can not find funds to help these poor people who built the country and fought for it but we can still find millions for war and for international relief. Here in Canada I served my country for thirty years and until my heart gave out, after going to my dentist for several appointments where they have to put me to sleep cause of a sensitivity problem I foung out afterwards and was delivered a bill for a few hundred and told they would no longer cover. Now I walk around with one tooth rotten because I cannot afford to get it removed. Enjoy my retirement the letter from the government said. Felix

Love the way you interwove NO to make your point{-s!}. Very effective! As you point out in NO uncertain terms, these are exceedingly trying times. Historians will say they aren't any scarier than those that humans managed to wade and blow their way through countless times before. But in terms of U.S. history. . . frankly, I am terrified. We need to turns things around fast -- to h e l p instead of d e s t r o y !! I agree with everyone here Karen that this is the silent thoughts we all expressed at the time of the 9/11 attacks. Those attacks in New York city were against civilians without regard for ethnicity. In my opinion only a coward could have set this up. And that picture of Bin Laden, OMG Karen, giggle. Thnx for sharing sis these sad and still painful thoughts. No one could have written it better. Thnx for sharing this Karen. I pray for all of our armed forces overseas, and especially those in the line of fire. I may disagree with some things our President does...but I believe in the USA and all that we stand united for. This is a very great tribute to the American soldier, who defends us with his or her life. For that I am grateful. Divorce -Indivisible LITTLE Child (Poetry) - 3/31/2005 4:19:21 PM
This made me cry Karen, because it hit home for me. I took my mother 12½ years to finally get rid of me. What does a parent think a child can do to her or him? It is not right, that children have to be pulled apart inside, while being tugged at from both sides on the outside. This is very emotional, very powerful, so very poignant. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & (((HUGS))), Barbie "If I have to...Then I may as well be."

Reviewed by miranda smith (reader) 3/25/2005 Let us not beat around the Bush. The Democratic Party is not any diferant than Adolph Hitlers Nazi Party. I couldn't agree more, Karen. men like that need to find out why they are left alone, and maybe that will teach them loyalty, commitment and honesty, maybe. But doubtful. I know a man just like this, and my girl friends all tell me they went out with him once, only to find out that he went out with another woman the next night, claiming he was ill. He was ill all right tho. Ill in the head. May the Lord be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love, peace, & (((HUGS))), Barbie "If I have to...Then I may as well be."

Hi Karen Holly-Dunn, I just read this for the first time, and it is so scary, because it's true. Full of information, in poetic form. Good write, I really liked this. But do you think anyone besides us here at the Den, will learn tho? Of course not, because the Middle East has been fighting with themselves for centuries. I still say tho, that WE need a woman in every capitol building in the world, to lead that particular government. I know we need one here. Very interesting perspective, indeed. However, could you explain this line: FLORIDA MEN AND WOMEN BREAK THE LAW TO MAKE THE STATE PROVIDE FREE MEDICAL - DENTAL AND MEALS AND A ROOF CALLED JAIL IN ORDER TO SURVIVE TO KEEP THEM ALIVE!!! I live just south of you, in Florida, and have been trying to figure out who these men and women are "who break the law in order to provide..." Must have had my head in the sand since the four hurricanes blew in... anyway, this is an interesting perspective and one I heartily agree with. Charity begins at home.

What makes me mad is that what we term WMD'S is different from the UN. Talked to a Colonel personally. Let them kill each other off and stay away from our country. Maybe I should not say this but they can take the UN and put it someplace else. It is a farce and where is poor Margaret Hanson?

2004: Beheadings!! How Many More? How Much More? (Poetry) - 1/12/2005 9:34:17 PM
Yes Karen I saw it because I worked in nursing home and saw the ill treatment. Sickening but then Clinton was in charge. I had cancer three times. I do know that our elderly have been ignored by so many for so long. What is sad that even though I wrote this filty people up to the VHDA and things allegedly changed. Was the ones that I did not save. In one case a woman had been dead for eighteen hours. I wrote it all down and have written novels about it all. Not that much space. You do make a valid point on this one. I have seen too much.

Child Molester :What's a Victim of Catholic Molestation to Do (Poetry) - 12/31/2004 5:43:48 PM
I agree with you 100%. As a devoted ex-catholic I have known the ugliness of the church hidden from public view. I was not sexually abused but as a child of only five I was beaten with rulers, straps, yardsticks. I was not allowed to go to bathrooms and if because of this we had "accidents" we were forced to sit in it till we went home ridiculed by nuns and other students encouraged by nuns. We were mentally and morally abused and the one s who were successfully brainwashed have denied that it happens. If this is an example of God's work then I am not sure that I want to be a part of God's work at least on this world. Brave write, Felix

Terri Schiavo - Living Will Link - Gov Bush Plays God -  (Poetry) - 10/23/2004 5:28:11 PM
The husband has been trying to free himself from his wife. She is a Catholic their religion goes against being starved to death. This should have never been in the courts. Her parents love her and her husband does not. I know you have worked with medicare and medicaid but have you seen a person die this way? I have and I am a retired nurse. It is not pretty. People should have living wills. I have one. I admire you for your viewpoint but I am a retired nurse. I disagree with what the husband is doing. We had a similiar case in Virginia. That is how I know what it looks like. Do some research and then we both pray that the Lord's will be done. The man in the case in Virginia should have never been revived. It was horrible to starve him to death. Would have been better if he had passed when the accident occured. Bush was not playing God he was acting on behalf of parents that loved her. I wish people understood what this proceedure is. If anything the husband with a live in lover was playing God. How convient it was for him.

2004: Beheadings!! How Many More? How Much More? (Poetry) - 6/30/2004 4:14:50 PM
Bush should not be blamed for this sort of thing. The terrorists who are doing the Jihad are the ones to blame. I agree with Eileen on this one.

2004: Beheadings!! How Many More? How Much More? (Poetry) - 6/19/2004 11:36:12 PM
May I ask why you are blaming Bush and your own country and not the terrorists who have sworn a Jihad against us.Do you just take the media and hollywood stars word for it, or have you studied the situation for yourself? Do you really think it is our governments fault that the Muslim radicals bombed spain, Bali, other places when Clinton was in Office and he freely admits that he should have done more to get Osama Bin Laden. Do you have any sympathy for the 400, 00 children Saddam Hussein killed in his own country, let alone the many thousands of other people. That he used chemicals to kill and disfigure hundreds of thousands of his own people. I'm sorry , I just don't understand how anyone that knows the facts can blame our country and not the ones who started it and want to kill us and make our country moslem! Go online and read what the radical muslims have done and want to do see what a Jihad really means.

Saddam DID tell the TRUTH! (Poetry) - 5/22/2004 10:22:53 PM
This is a good poem Karen except, have you stopped to think that the Iraqi's are not doing anything that we in this country wouldn't do to defend ourselves against any invaders that would happen to do the same thing we did there. I support the soldiers, although I support the efforts to bring them home. You talk about the person that was beheaded, as soon as he was taken, I knew he was going to die because he's Jewish. Did you also read the articles about the US planes straffing a wedding party in the desert? Or how about the mistreated prisoners? For every act of sabotage against us, how many Iraqi have died senselessly? How many women and children have died that never did anything to anyone? How many will have to die from the Uranium tipped missles we fired on on Iraq? Isn't that WMD? For Centuries, there will be a higher incident of cancer and birth defects in the Middle East then in almost anywhere else in the world except Chernoble...

Saddam DID tell the TRUTH! (Poetry) - 5/17/2004 10:38:56 AM
You are more right than wrong. I love your take. A very realistic one to be sure and one that is steeped in truth. To all of the Jim Dunlaps of the world: Those brave soldiers are fighting for your misguided selfs to spout off insanity also. Very good, honest prose, Karen Gallo Dunn.

Saddam DID tell the TRUTH! (Poetry) - 5/12/2004 6:00:42 AM
An innocent man -- there to help rebuild a country's communications -- slain in a torturous manner. We can't shift the blame to anyone but the evil terrorists who committed the crime. I think we'll never understand the mindset of the terrorists and that may be the biggest problem in all this conflict. Irregardless of where anyone stands on the president, the war, other political issues -- we must be horrified by this innocent man's slaughter and the suffering he endured. God be with his family.

Saddam DID tell the TRUTH! (Poetry) - 5/11/2004 8:29:54 PM
Yes, but why are the American people to blind to see that the real culprit is Dubya and nobody else. No Americans would be dying over there if it weren't for him and his cold-blooded VP. People who have never been in wars are always the ones who want to start one. Americans are too dumb to see that. What's wrong with the U.S.? Isn't there a person in the country in a position of power who can see beyond the end of his/ her nose?

Karen, no one I know of is happy to be in Iraq. What do we do? Stay the course and keep trying ot pacify this country, or pull out? Whatever we do, it will be condemned. How do we win the trust of the Iraquia people? So many questions need to be answered. Maybe this administration in office now is not asking them? Bill

Death = U. S. E. R. = Unknown Selfserving Everlasting Reality (Poetry) - 5/8/2004 4:24:54 PM
You have crafted some excellent lines. I especially like, "Insanity Controls - A Hairshirted Soul - Loss we can't explain Self Guilt and Blame is a Sad Shame Self imposed, Unintentional, Unwarranted Pain" The use of caps in uncommon places, though often annoying (in my opinion) when used in other works, add to the creativity of this poem. The overall topic is handled extremely well. Finally, I love the ending. Enough!

Yes America has been Bushwacked. We were lied to from the start. No weapons of mass destruction or ties to terrorism have been found, probably because they never existed. As long as the current administration is in power, America is stuck a senseless situation. As Larry said we were told Iraq over and over again until we believed it. Trouble is, some still believe it and won't remove there head from the sand.

I love this poem. It is touching and well written. I agree with you that people are spending too much protesting the war instead of supporting and praying for the soldiers who are out there risking their lives for US. Mark is in my prayers!

Wonderful write Karen. I support our troops as well as one's right to protest. That, after all, is what we're fighting for. I do believe, however, that the one's method of protest is an insight to one's integrity. A "Right to lifer" who kills an abortion doctor defeats his entire argument, just as those protesting war who choose violence defeat theirs. If we could only see that our message is in our actions, as well as our words. -James
