You mentioned that you haven't been able to find "qolqas" here. I am Lebanese living in the Washington DC area and my mother makes this on special occasions... we are sometimes able to find taro root in Middle Eastern or Carribean grocery stores in the frozen section. Thought this may be of help! Best!

I loved JW too and I think all of our generation hero worshipped him. I learned a lot from your essay. Well done.
My favourite anecdote of him is a question asked by a journalist about how he does his famous walk. He stood up to demonstrate and said "First, I put one foot forward, like this. Then the other one. I continue like that as far as I want to go."

Along with men of the calibre of Ward Bond, Wayne was a 'man's man'. Also, as Maureen O'Hara remarked, 'John Wayne was America'.
My wife and I never tire of his films, Rio Bravo, The Searchers, Eldorado, Liberty Valance, Shootist etc etc - moral, honourable and feel good stirring magic.

You certainly keep his memory alive mum! My friends are astounded at my knowledge of John Wayne films and it's all thanks to you! ;-)
I could quote him at the age of 5! "come and see a fat old man some day"

What we must do. (Poetry) - 11/2/2007 2:48:19 PM
Those that sell SECURITY's Deals are on the business of industrialized wars ~ selling weapons to "BENIGHTED NATIONS", (That is how they call the buyers of their weapons.) ~ and building concentration CAMPS and slaveyards around the globe.
"What we must do" stimulated me to think that this is the time for the people to stop the criminal actions against humans by saying "NO" to the FIVE PERMANENT MEMBERS OF THE UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL, who are the slave Lords of this planet, doing business as PEACE MAKERS, while creating social unrest and wars on the for corners of the Earth.

How to live to a ripe old age! (Poetry) - 10/12/2007 6:46:07 PM
Really cute! My phrase is "suck lemons, don't suck lemons" because what is decidedly good for you today, is bad for you tomorrow. I say eat and drink in moderation and you can never go wrong. Gets confusing, doesn't it???

You know, when my children were growing up I always had candy dishes all around the house filled with m/m"s, hershey kisses, and other chocolates. They were so used to seeing the candy out that they very rarely ate any of it. I found that those pieces that I hide where the ones they would seek out so I stopped hiding them. Enjoyed the write and yes, candy is a treat.....
