Reflections on a Childhood Memory (Short Story) - 3/30/2009 7:20:18 PM
Solid work. I would recommend editing or even removing the first two sentences. I know an introduction is necessary, but sometimes diving right into it is a powerful grabber of attention. The intro somehow does not mesh with the body of the work. I think you wrote something very poignant, very real, very personal.

Very sweet memory. The whole atmosphere of the piece is one of reminiscing. I like how you discribed the clouds. I also like the way you turn full circle at the end--taking us back home with you.--Charlie

Choices (copyright by Carol Ann Erhardt) (Poetry) - 11/15/2007 7:00:48 PM
Sad! But I concur with Karla: those who come to our land LEGALLY and/or learn our ways, our LANGUAGE, I have no problem with; it's those who expect us to cater to THEM that I have problems with or those who intentionally break the law with no regard for those around them. Sad! I say send 'em back; they don't NEED to be here! PERIOD!! And what really ticks me off: WHY Are they gettng benefits that native-born Americans can't get?? It's ludicrous!! (((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(

Carole, I have no problems with anyone coming to our country, as long as they come LEGALLY, as long as they learn our language, as long as they obey our laws. Too many come illegally, now, ruining it for all immigrants. My grandfather was 14 years old when his parents put him on a ship from Croatia; in order for him to get a job, he had to learn English. In order for him to become a citizen, he had to learn English. He did, and refused to speak his native language...NOBODY catered to him. This was sad, in a way, because it denied him his culture, and us, his grandchildren, from learning more about it. (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
