Vancouver Tears (Short Story) - 8/17/2002 9:33:45 PM|
Needs editing, but interesting read. Maybe you should start weaving the rain into it sooner, let the rain be the hook. Maybe Piper watched the rain on the window as Mama rocked Ella to sleep, for example. The reader might also benefit from seeing Piper earlier, give the reader time to care for her before the second tragic accident. After some refining, this has a chance at selling. Peace :)

Ms. Horton: I happened upon your Web site by accident by looking for another Jessica Horton, but I'm glad I did. I read all of your articles and found them very inspirational. You are a very accomplished writer, especially for one so young. Keep it up!
Re: I Still Pray (Article) - 8/20/2002 1:36:08 PM
The fool hath said in his heart, "There is no God." Hate is not the opposite of love, rather apathy is. If someone hates God, he may actually be closer to entering the kingdom than one who doesn't care either way.
Don't be offended by his comments. If he believes what he said, he was trying to help you. May his attempt at reaching out to help you be rewarded by our Father with blessings. His sins are not as horrible as those commited by those of us who claim to know Him. May the Lord have mercy on us all.
Re: I Still Pray (Article) - 8/19/2002 10:18:45 AM
jessica, all we can do is pray for that person who insulted our lord god. i had a similar experience myself; the person accused me of being a mormon and that i needed to be on prozac; and the person also said "my god sucked". i almost gave up writing on account of this lowlife; but i did not, and i am very glad; i have been blessing others thru my stories, poems, and stuff, and that is all that matters. jesus gave me a gift last 9-11, and i am NOT giving it up..EVER. so don't YOU do it, neither!! hang in there, and put your trust in the lord; i did. love, a fellow christian and writer, karen lynn in texas. ((HUGS)) and god's blessings on you!!

"I have been waiting for four days, and nothing has gone right since" needs to be adjusted. I want to read the novel that this is the epilogue for.

I help my breath until the fog lifted. I seemed to develop tunnel vision. Fortunately, I didn't pass out.

This is what writing was meant to be.
Wandering Through a Desert (Article) - 8/18/2002 9:48:22 AM
Very well written, this flow is what I aim at when I sit down to write. Perhaps we should only write when we are angry, blissful, or hurting. Thank you for sharing your pain and peace, as well as your talent.
Wandering Through a Desert (Article) - 8/17/2002 9:44:42 PM
The writing is beautiful.
May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep your heart and mind in the knowledge and love of God, and of His Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit +, be among you and remain with you always.

Imagine how much better the world would be if children's memory space was not wasted on myths and fables and instead they be taught about science, technology and all the billions of planets we can colonize. Imagine if we had over 300 million scientists instead of 300 million religious leader/parasites? Imagine if people were taught the truth about reality and nature; imagine how beautiful the world would be if people were to start reviring science and knowledge of the truth of reality instead of religios bullshit!

Twas the Night Before Monday (Poetry) - 9/8/2002 7:56:09 PM
I would post more works in progress if updates would repost. Typing new stuff right here works well, but because it won't repost naturally I wait so you all can see it complete.

Going to bed? (Poetry) - 9/8/2002 2:12:22 PM
Oh! You have SO got me craving pizza AND chocolate cookies! And Amen to needy cars! You made me smile & hunger at the same time. If poets are supposed to create emotion you certainly succeeded with me! :) Thumbs up!
Weaving Life (Poetry) - 8/19/2002 10:26:22 AM
spiders ARE fascinating creatures, but i am NOT a spider lover, especially if i find one in my apartment or if i get bitten by one (in which i have; right on the BUTT!!). have a nice scar as a result of that dumb arachnid...loved the poem anyway! god bless you, jessica! love and god's blessings to you, your friend, karen lynn. I Still Pray (Poetry) - 8/19/2002 10:21:10 AM
i disagree with ron, you HAVE to trust in the lord; to fail to do so would be disasterous. love, and god's blessings to you, your friend, karen lynn.
I Still Pray (Poetry) - 8/18/2002 5:06:16 PM
That was heartfelt. Do not trust in a Lord or King. He will deceive you in the end. Have you read my poem, Let us Prey?
It's all Good. (Poetry) - 8/18/2002 4:57:42 PM
My sediments--zactkly! Seriously, I wrote a similar request to the forum and brought on a firestorm accusing me of crimes I didn't know existed.
To get ahead here, you have to suck up, like the teacher who gives good grades and gets Teacher of the Year.
Your idea is great! Your poetry fails to get it across. Next time put some fire, sting and irony in it.
It's all Good. (Poetry) - 8/18/2002 9:04:32 AM
I give you a 5 because of your message.Bravo! This is not poetry in my opinion. The way a writer gets better is under the fire of revision and crit.Don't pat me on the head like I am a dog and say real nice work. That lie will not help me.If we wish to make this a credible site we must take responsibility.Be honest in your number rating but always explain why. Also a word of encouragement as not to diminish a writers hope.
It's all Good. (Poetry) - 8/17/2002 9:12:50 PM
I think this is the best read I've had this month. It deserves a 10, but I didn't want to offend you! Written well, just enough over-the-top. By the way, you're right, don't buy their bowl. I have a Tupperware bowl I'll carve your initials in for $15. It has only been SLIGHTLY melted in the microwave. It still holds soup ;)
It's all Good. (Poetry) - 8/17/2002 7:23:25 PM
I give everyone I read a ten for I am not an editor as such. My comments will clue one in as to how excited I got over a write or not. If the write is that bad or I disagree with it I do not rate it and move on. I have my place here as contributing and encouraging others in their writes. Eventually one who loves to write will continue to read others while learning and, in turn, improve. I will not discourage the beginners when they could someday be a great poet or writer. This is a family at Authorsden and I will strive to maintain those good ties while watching others soar through support and inspiration. You can help more in private messages than in reviews. By the way, this was a pretty decent write too...and like you said..."It's all good"
Peace be with you and continue writing, my friend.
It's all Good. (Poetry) - 8/17/2002 7:10:06 PM
Editors can be found almost anywhere, encouragers are more scarce and precious! I would rather be an encourager to raw, emotional talent and let someone else correct the typos and misspells, but to each his own I guess!
It's all Good. (Poetry) - 8/17/2002 6:56:42 PM
I agree with dream weaver.... Some times I have given less and I have received less before..
I do agree with the bowl and the award done that number several times I nver have paid or gone... nice your hear..Take care
It's all Good. (Poetry) - 8/17/2002 6:55:03 PM
At least nobody here wants to buy their own bowl of poetry trophy. If you hang around here long enough, you will know how the rating system works. It's the comments that counts, the ratings means nothing, they're just numbers.
It's all Good. (Poetry) - 8/17/2002 5:45:38 PM
Hah! I have just given a couple of 9's. I think it's fair enough that I had given.
But then again I agree with dreamweaver, the ratings down mean a thing, it's the comments and the responsibility of the giver to explain why he/she has given it less than 10. It's better than giving 10 and to say nothing needs improving.

It's all Good. (Poetry) - 8/17/2002 4:42:40 PM
I automatically give everyone a ten, the ratings don't mean much to me. I look at the comments more.. For me, if I read something that I find some typo's that are really obvious etc. I private mail them and make my suggestions that way..
Just Another Headache.. (Poetry) - 8/12/2002 2:57:38 AM
I know how you feel, I suffer from chronic migraines myself. People think they are just headaches... maybe from now on I'll show them this poem and hope it explains it better. Bravo.
