Downriver (Book) - 5/14/2007 2:49:22 PM
I really loved the poetry of Downriver more than anything. The author not only tells us to live in the moment, he vividly puts us into it. There are so many levels you can enjoy this book on, and so many ways to see life when you are done. Kids can enjoy it as a simple story about little creatures, but adults can really feel the depth of it. I can see why its for teens because of this. But everyone should read "Downriver!".

Downriver (Book) - 4/23/2007 6:35:59 PM
Glad to see you are getting some attention outside of St Paul, Erik! This book is just magical! It appeals to every sense as you read it, and unfolds so carefully you can feel as if you are there with Popey. I can't reccomend it enough, it really changed my life. I only wish it wasn't always put in the Teen / Young Adult category, as this book really is for everyone. Everyone, read this book!

Downriver (Book) - 4/7/2007 2:09:08 PM
What struck me about "Downriver" is how unassuming it is. It seems like a very simple story about very small creatures, but it's about much more than that. Everyone realizes at some point that a lot of the made-up world is not real, but what do you do about it? Not care? By keeping it small, "Downriver" is very life-affirming, if in a rather small and disarming way.

Downriver (Book) - 3/17/2007 1:02:07 PM
Downriver is a modern mythical journey through understanding the way the world works. Geared toward young adults, the story has compelling messages for all of us about finding one's place in the world when life's transitions demand that we learn a new way.

Pablo (Short Story) - 7/9/2008 3:31:01 AM
Good imagery in this story; well penned! :)

Authenticity (Short Story) - 1/31/2008 9:52:04 PM
Erik, I'm not sure who criticized your work before, but they must be blind. I found this work fascinating. Very descriptive giving the readers inner eye the substance required to see, hear and feel the first meeting. Although this is a business meeting I felt the attraction between the Inna and the narrator. I would like to read more….keep writing!

The Lord of Hobbies (Short Story) - 12/21/2007 8:16:10 PM
Thank you for the laughs. I enjoyed this a lot.

Solstice Light (Short Story) - 12/10/2007 2:03:53 PM
Thank you, Erik, that was a great new legend for an ancient mystical holiday!

The Lord of Hobbies (Short Story) - 11/27/2007 10:31:16 PM
ROFL! This is awesome, Erik. I especially liked the part about Noah. :-)

The Lord of Hobbies (Short Story) - 7/1/2007 8:14:43 PM
Ok Erik, You forgot the part where God said to Adam...I see you are lonely and need some company. How about if I make you a perfection in the flesh. She will be beautiful, worship you and be your helpmate. Adam said that's pretty cool, but how much is this gonna cost me God? God mused a second and said, "an arm and a leg." Adam mused a minute and then asked, "what can I get for a rib? Walt

Midnight (Short Story) - 4/23/2007 6:37:57 PM
This story is so typical of Erik and how he writes. Everything is so personal you can't help but feel like you are the character. I really love that about it.

Midnight (Short Story) - 4/7/2007 9:31:08 PM
i read it to the end--really good! a bit longer than i like, but...complete, if you will. thanks for commenting. btw, it's 'vamonos'. Amador, in Spanish, means lover. It's a nice name for the dog. keep going.

Noon (Short Story) - 4/7/2007 2:11:10 PM
I've seen many guys like this, especially at divey sports bars. This portrait was so very true, and very Highland neighborhood. When will you do St Anthony?

Midnight (Short Story) - 4/7/2007 2:09:53 PM
I loved this story, and it is so very Saint Paul! I can't wait for the other 5 to come out. Are you going to publish them together?

Midnight (Short Story) - 4/1/2007 9:05:15 AM
This story was compelling enough that I couldn't stop reading even when I had something urgent to do at work!

Noon (Short Story) - 3/17/2007 1:15:36 PM
I really enjoy the dialogue in this story. The descriptions around Vic's interaction with Maddy and his thoughts while speaking with her make him seem both masculine and vulnerable. He is a man worth knowing despite his tendency to "get away" with keeping secrets even from his therapist.

More than Memories (Article) - 5/8/2008 8:57:34 AM
Love always to visit my cemetery in Middletown, Pa. Hubby is buried there. Go each day to visit him and read some others stones too. Took him a bouquet for May day this year and wish I could put flowers on all the long lost graves who have nobody left to put flowers on. **********

More than Memories (Article) - 6/14/2007 9:46:27 PM
Erik, I love to visit cemeteries and celebrate the lives of those passed. I read the names, ages, wonder how they died and for a moment, they are alive again. Cynthia

Community: The Elements (Article) - 6/14/2007 6:56:00 PM
in the blog part you talk about 'getting'/is one getting, etc.? but you don't mention giving. perhaps a community is a lot like life--we 'get' from it what we put in it...so, in order to 'get' we need to also give our share, etc. it's the way i see it but i may have missed something and maybe you, in the article, do refer to giving. anyway, it's quite interesting.

I find this threatening and will not take it. You have no idea of the arsenal that I bring. Reveal yourself, or pay the price.

The Case Against Bush - Murder (Article) - 5/19/2007 1:59:33 PM
No action should have been taken that was not multilateral. We took an almost unilateral action (with the help of the UK and a few others). We invaded a country. The attackers on 9/11 were all Saudi Arabians. Not one was Afghan or Iraqi. Where's the logic? If a bunch of Argentines attack us, we are going to invade Ecuador for revenge. After all, both countries are Spanish-speaking and, for the most part, Catholic.

I Speak for the Trees (Poetry) - 9/10/2008 5:05:45 AM
Hello Erik, This is a fantastic narrative write that relays a more serious message than we care to admit. Trees also stop FLOODING and cutting them down puts us all in danger. Cynthia

I Speak for the Trees (Poetry) - 8/19/2008 3:18:23 PM
I like this take on the real-estate bubble and the bursting of that bubble. This was ironic in a humorous way and I enjoyed the poem. I like the image of the cutting down of the trees to supply the paperwork the government demands--it is absurd isn’t it how mired America had become in legalese.

I Speak for the Trees (Poetry) - 7/18/2008 2:01:28 AM
A great story, with a great message, brilliantly told in poetic form. And it speaks to my heart - I love trees, feel privileged beyond words to live surrounded by them, and truly pity those whose idea of progress is a blend of cement sidewals, anything above twenty-story buildings, endless strips of tarmac... and rows of numbers down endless strips of paper. Much enjoyed, Erik, bravo! Alexandra*

I Speak for the Trees (Poetry) - 7/13/2008 10:44:20 AM
