The Little Mongrel (Book) - 7/26/2010 7:54:45 PM
This story is so much like my own story. I to was made a ward of the state of Victoria, through no fault of my own. Care and protection it was called, and I ended up in Winlaton from 1959 to 1962/3,so we would have crossed paths, especially in Goonyah,as I spent a lot of time there.
Your story moved me to tears,we never had any rights back then ,adults were always right. The poms thet came out here with a chip on their shoulders took it out on all of the kids in Winlaton, also the could only get these type of jobs locking up and belting kids. The more keys they carried the more powerful they became.
Anyway, sorry for going on, but it should have been stopped, instead it was condoned by the a authorities.
Cheers
The Last Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (Short Story) - 5/4/2007 5:00:53 PM
Merlene, this story touched me very deeply. The writing was hauntingly beautiful; Chrissie's lot in life sad, and yet wonderful in its redemption at the end. Truly a winner.

Forgotten Australians (Article) - 7/26/2010 8:23:18 PM
This kind of thing was going on all over the Country in these slave labour place.Especially the church run places, and the nuns were so cruel to little kids.
Justice will NEVER be done, and they know they have got away with it.If only we had a strong government that would look right into these things.
