What Writing About Wicca Taught Me (Article) - 3/16/2003 2:28:38 AM
I also enjoyed the article, but as already mentioned, the history here is a bit sketchy. Wicca is most definitely not "the longest-lived and most consistently practiced." However, I also find it odd that the person correcting the history would recommend Silver RavenWolf books: books by an author nortorious for inventing history. Regardless, I definitely appreciate the write-up and mention in this article.
Blessings,

While I was encouraged by the topic of the essay, the information contained within it is not exactly correct. Wicca was the brainchild of Gerald Gardener and while the bare roots of it can be traced back to pre-Christianity, it was Gardener that applied the name 'Wicca' to it in the 1950's. To get a better understanding of it, I would suggest you grab a book or two by Silver Ravenwolf, Edian McCoy, Scott Cunningham or Margo Adler. Websites are NOT accurate research facilities due to the fact that 99% are created by those who scammed their information from other inaccurate websites. One website you can go to for accurate information is Witchvox.com, considered to be the largest Pagan/Wiccan website in the world. E-mail me if you need anymore info.
