War is so pointless and unnessacary. Innocent people die for reasons tha could only make sense to the selfish.

Powerful poem--The fear of parents and loved ones captured in words. I served in Vietnam in 1966. After I made it home, my dad told me that every time the news reported a battle over there, my mother cried. I came close to buying the farm but like in horseshoes, close don't count in combat except its contribution to PTSD. I’ve lived with PTSD for more than four decades.

Heart-felt. It reminded me of that clip in saving private Ryan when the news of her three sons being killed reached the general and he was hard pressed to find the fourth. Then read the letter from Abe Lincoln, bringing an erie silence. :)
