Heart of Stone (Short Story) - 8/14/2007 8:14:55 AM
this story is very well written and I like the use of personification with the princess as "vanity" and having all the qualities of a vain woman with a heart of stone. She seems incapable of caring for another human being as she is so self absorbed and narcissistic. Prince William is well portrayed as a likeable character and Prince Charming is just as shallow as Vanity! The match between Joy and Prince William seems like the conflict in the story and the reader hope that they will be together. I really liked this story alot! thanks for sharing! katie

Amen you're preaching sista! I have to agree with every syllable you just spoke. We need to stop worrying and covering up who we are and just be who we are because we'll never be anyone else. Life is too short for complicating things. Therefore appreciation for the little things and simplicity is what will bring us the greatest peace and joy Thanks for bringing this great piece face forward and Keep writing great messages!

Your bio blurb is right on the money Ana! You capture the chaos well; sadly this write could also apply to America, and a dozen other countries on this beleaguered planet. Blessings, and welcome to AD friend ... Richard

Farewell to Cuba (Poetry) - 7/30/2007 2:39:56 PM
I've been to Cuba four times, lost some good stuff at customs, and it was rare to get Cubans to say what they really thought of Fidel. Indeed, everywhere soldiers have, what look like kalasnikovs, the health care seemed second to none, cars from America 50's... Yet the people are friendly and always have a smile. Cuba is the most beautiful island, yet the housing...What housing? Where does all the tourists money go. Under it all I felt it is a country built on fear and oppression, kinda waiting to implode... That said, never have I seen so many beautiful women on one island, with stunning smiles, and great dancers. You could look but not touch,(kinda) one of our group did, even though he paid the guard to let her be, he took the money and we heard she was getting two years, and if a cuban picked a fight, he could get up to 20 years... As for public transport, yikes... I often wonder what would have happened if Che had not been betrayed by Fidel and shot by the CIA... Many Americans have told me he was evil, yet after reading all his works, and other peoples about him, he had a heart for justice, not just in latin america, but in Africa too... Once he became a doctor I read that he help find a cure against leprosy. Something about Che that fascinates me. My ex (from NY) hates him and all he stood for. Cuba could be the most divine country in the world, but it needs America to stop the stupid embargo, and Cubans to fight for their beautiful country... I must admitt I felt totally safe over there, and will go back many more times, just to watch the dolpins swimming at dawn, a soldier who looked tough, saw me taking pics at dawn, and videos, neither spoke the same lingo, but he took me in to a secured area where the view was breath taking, and for a couple of hours we shared Gods beauty.... If Cuba was free, I'd live there in a heart beat....
