The Writer (Short Story) - 8/14/2007 3:37:27 AM
This poem reflects imagination and the course that it can take. I encourage you to keep writing, as it is a great vehicle that allows us to heal ourselves and travel to another place and time.

Just Like Grandma (Short Story) - 8/14/2007 3:33:52 AM
This is sad, but probably true in many aspects. Alcohol and drug abuse in the home leads to generations of problems and crimes. I might not have been adopted and taken off the island if not for an alcoholic father. I suspect that your poem comes from the deep dark corners within yourself and reflects the abuses that you saw around you growing up and the emotional trauma you suffered. It puts a face on the monster.

Child - Cut Your Switch (Short Story) - 8/14/2007 3:27:55 AM
This poem only seals my distain for corporate punishment of any kind. My generation knew a lot of corporate punishment at home and in the schools. Your poem shows the pain that you still feel after this humiliating and painful ordeal as a child. I hope that generations to come will find intelligent ways to discipline that do no harm. I talked with my son from the day he was born and that worked. Parents who strike their children are out of control and need parenting classes. With all the technology and wisdom in the world, you would think that human beings would finally realize that striking our children only leads to a cycle of abuse and emotional trauma for generations to come. When will this madness end? I feel so sorry for your pain as too endured so much.

Child - Cut Your Switch (Short Story) - 8/7/2007 3:28:02 PM
A very sad poem, Anastasia, but your point is well taken. I feel for the child inside of you that still hurts all these years later. Jean

Double Beauty (Poetry) - 8/14/2007 3:41:53 AM
Double Beauty reflects the beauty that your spirit sees even through the window pane of pain through the years. The human spirit is so resourceful. Imagine where it could soar to if it was not inhibited by negative experiences and emotional and physical trauma? This poems reflects your spirit in a healing process.
