My Ten Pimp Slaps (Article) - 3/11/2008 10:46:44 PM
You had me laughing and nodding. Love number six. These types need to brush up on respect. From a woman's, my breasts don't utter a freakin' word - no matter how much you stare at them. Fun to read article! Sheila

My Ten Pimp Slaps (Article) - 10/24/2007 12:56:38 PM
too funny! LOL

My Ten Pimp Slaps (Article) - 10/7/2007 5:41:22 AM
good list, I have one to add people who walk away from whatever has their current attention backwards, for at least 5 - 10 steps before turning around. Then act shocked when they knock into you, or knock something over, for example, your drink, your grandma, your CHILD.......I have had my little ones smashed by a few of these inconsiderate types that can pop up suddenly in a crowd. Now you might say, hey you should be able spot a dyslexic walker, but....sadly not always....especially in a crowd situation. now that felt good to get that off my chest! lol great list...........and so true to the toilet to flush and blow lol

Young Master (Poetry) - 11/6/2008 6:01:29 PM

One of your best, Duane. The dark voice here is passionate. Superb writing! Sheila

Madness (Poetry) - 10/7/2008 3:26:45 PM
Wow-pretty dark-an opposing view to the light and sometimes good to reflect on. Well written by the way. Thanks, ~D.

Learn To Knock (Poetry) - 10/7/2008 3:21:18 PM
This is really fun - takes you down a path then switches gears of equal frustration. Thank you, ~D.

Kill Factory (Poetry) - 10/1/2008 2:38:22 AM
Sounds brutal, yet it's been going on for as long as man has lived. Only the process has changed. Great write, Duane! Sheila

Mr Driver (Poetry) - 9/22/2008 8:54:27 PM
Duane, A fantastic follow-up to your previous post. You give us a different perspective, which is easier for most people to relate to. I picture a firm grip on the wheel and a determined expression, accompanied by a deep laugh. Way to write. Sheila

Mr Squirrel (Poetry) - 9/22/2008 8:48:49 PM
LOL, Duane. There's a poem in my poetry book about this from the same perspective. Great minds.... Mine is quite different, though - mine survived but was shaken. I like your graphic version. I can picture this vividly. Every time I see a dead critter in the road, I cross myself. A habit I formed when I first started driving. I feel bad for their families. Great poem. Sheila

Mary Rising (Poetry) - 9/17/2008 8:31:14 PM
Duane, Your admiration comes through clearly and beautifully. I like how you recognize her strength of character. Great~ Sheila

Critical Jive (Poetry) - 4/13/2008 6:11:23 AM
It's too bad there are people like this. Nicely done. I feel "spit on" by this snob just by reading this - the imagery pops! You must be home by now. Enjoy!! Hugs~ Sheila

The Count (Poetry) - 4/8/2008 6:45:12 PM
I especially like the line "Just hollowed garments dancing". That line is extremely original and I love the imagery it creates. Actually, I love the imagery throughout. A quote at the end is a powerful touch. You've captured the loneliness that an immortal must 'live' with over the centuries. Well done! Hugs:) Sheila

Splashback (Poetry) - 4/5/2008 12:57:16 PM
Duane, This one reminds me of when I worked in a nursing home. They had a sign on one of the bathroom walls that outlined the many different styles of 'package' delivery. Your poem is just as funny. Realistic, though I can't relate to line Take care of you~ Sheila

Sweet Kisses (Poetry) - 3/21/2008 3:37:52 AM
This poem breathes new life into some of these words. I especially like "Her belly now plump, At my hip," - creative imagery! I'm off to check my Japanese naginata sword for plumpness. Fantastic work on this piece:) Sheila

What Are You Staring At (Poetry) - 3/21/2008 3:29:37 AM
Duane, Prejudice is worldwide and it has many faces. I sometimes wonder if prejudice would finally disappear if we were all blind. I've had some people comment, that given my non-repulsive looks...I can't possibly write well. One of my teachers in high school said something that always stuck with me. "If you discriminate because of skin color, beliefs, religion, may miss out on a best friend, a lover, or a soul mate." This poem proves that we have a long way to go as a society. Thought provoking and realistic! PS. If I saw you on the street, I would have to look twice. Not because of skin color but because I think you look a bit like Corey Feldman. No one has chased you screaming, I loved "The Goonies" and "The Lost Boys", yet? lol.... Love and Hugs~ Sheila

I Take Nothing (Poetry) - 3/21/2008 3:07:51 AM
Duane, Congratulations! This gives us a brief glimpse of what you and many others endure to keep the rest of us safe and free. Thank you for your sacrifice:) As powerful as this poem is, I cannot help but disagree with the last line...just a little. You may be resolved to leave it all behind but unfortunately the memories will follow like a lost child. That 'child' will find a home in you. However, your strength in character will allow you to give 'him' acceptance. Keep safe! Love and Hugs~ Sheila

I Take Nothing (Poetry) - 3/18/2008 8:08:53 PM
POwerful!! That last line, grabs the heart.

I Take Nothing (Poetry) - 3/16/2008 6:01:43 PM

So Mote Be (Poetry) - 3/5/2008 9:39:40 PM
I appreciate the sacrifice you, your fellow warriors, and your families/loved-ones are making. I believe your writer's soul will deepen "abroad". Thank you for sharing this:) Hugs~ Sheila

Hecate (Poetry) - 3/5/2008 9:28:28 PM
Thanks to negative portrayals, society at large has a negative connotation for Wicca. This poem shows the beauty and the naturalism, which is not showcased enough. A fantastic write that reveals yet another side of you~ Sheila

Fruitcake (Poetry) - 3/2/2008 12:54:19 PM
Yuk! I'm not fond of fruitcake (I don't know how anyone could be.) but you've made me even less likely to eat it again, Duane. I guess that means your words were effective and got your intended result. Love and peace, Regis

This Old House (Poetry) - 3/1/2008 8:38:37 PM
That is one house I'd like to stay away from, Duane. Chilling! Coincidentally, I have a poem posted here at AD entitled "Old House." Thanks for sharing. Love and peace, Regis

The Devil's Entertainment (Poetry) - 3/1/2008 8:37:11 PM

Hatchet Man (Poetry) - 3/1/2008 1:12:14 AM
I'm writing a novel series on a female assassin so this one I love. Is it wrong to laugh? It's just words...right? Love the many ways in which the Hatchet Man sneaks up on his prey. Skulk is a great word! Hugs:) Sheila

The Green Dragon (Poetry) - 3/1/2008 1:06:23 AM
Yes, "spark it again". This one is very different from others I've read from you, though your imagination still comes through loud and clear. It's nice to see another side to your writing. Love and Hugs~ Sheila

I'll Stick Some Pins In It (Poetry) - 3/1/2008 1:00:01 AM
The title drew me in. I was curious. I'll have to remember to stay on your good side.... I worked at a store once. I wished a heart attack on my manager. It happened days later. I'll always wonder about that. Sheila

Crimstone Manor (Poetry) - 3/1/2008 12:54:00 AM
I will be avoiding this house. Hopefully it's marked? A fun read! Sheila

Through Fire And Brimstone (Poetry) - 3/1/2008 12:51:03 AM
I like the contrast in this poem. You start with lovely imagery, stringing us along. Then bang. Plus, you tie the verses together. Nicely done! Love and Hugs~ Sheila

Beyond The Flesh (Poetry) - 3/1/2008 12:47:17 AM
Wow! Love this one. It's powerful. Very creative/original lines here. I especially like "Anxious for blood our minds race winds". Glad I'm with the other chicks hiding out~ Hugs:) Sheila

My Creations (Poetry) - 3/1/2008 12:41:44 AM
This poem comes full circle - I like that. While reading this, I flashed to the scene at the end of "Jeepers Creepers" where the creature is taking the kid's eyes. Love the body parts in the cart imagery. I had a dream like that...alien in carts, blood pooling, humans jetting out to space with backpack-like travel suits. No dogs allowed in space so I stayed behind with my minis, trying to avoid the axes. Great imagination, Duane! Sheila

Instruments Of Victory (Poetry) - 2/26/2008 11:31:22 PM
You have a talent for writing dark pieces. I love the flow of this one. The first two lines of each verse are powerful. Nicely done! Sheila

The Devil's Entertainment (Poetry) - 2/26/2008 11:13:40 PM
Great use of imagination in this piece. Dark imagery makes the title pop. Hugs~ Sheila
