What a wonderful little poem!
To me, it expresses one's desire to bring happiness to another, yet perhaps is too intensive. Sometimes rather than bust our butts it's more productive just to be ourselves with honest motives and not try too hard. I get the impression in Make You Smile that it comes from one who knows much heartache and wants to help others weather the storm of life. On the other hand, maybe I should just lean back and enjoy the pleasure of a well-stated verse.
