The History of Open Adoption (Article) - 12/11/2007 6:09:01 PM
Man! I have a sister who's worked as an adoption agent for the past few years. You would not believe the amount of paper work and expence! It's astounding. Working with other governments-- creeds. And the things that go on: corrupted diplomats insisting on bribes or papers don't move for years at a time-- You would not believe. And it's so heart-wrenching-- these children that sit in limbo while politicians who don't know them at all argue over sintax and taxes, lining their pockets with well-worn time, and money. Money for the document translators, money for the care-takers, money for the agents, for the agencies, power of atorney even sometimes signed away, while you wait... Sometimes the children die waiting in orphanages far away. A travesty! Back to the other days, please! There's got to be some way of stopping the trafficking of children. Great article in few words. I'm saving it. --Charlie

Unlike your poem "shadows and broken fences," this poem shows an intact family love that must be wrenched apart. In my favorite movie/book ever, "The Princess Bride," Wessely tells Buttercup: "Death cannot stop true love; all it can do is delay it for a while." I think your poem says the same thing, in poignant lines. Great write. --Charlie
