Winds of Destiny (Book) - 9/1/2011 5:44:16 PM|
The book is quite relevant for today, in many ways.
First, it can give us a better understanding of American history. What were the struggles of people of conscious in a land that did not tolerate religious freedom? What events in mother England drove the Puritans to such places like America?
Second, Jayne conveys the message of tolerance and understanding, much like the parable of the Good Samaritan. The heroine finds compassion from an unlikely source - those who are “the wrong religion.”
And last, in the uncertainty of the 1640s, Providence takes the heroine on a journey she could not have foreseen. Likewise, are not these uncertain times in twenty-first century America?

Utopian Promise (Poetry) - 3/26/2013 6:17:46 AM
While most creatures in the temperate zones live out their lives with the seasons, winter can be particularly harsh on even the best prepared. While there are times when the bounty of the climate makes living utopian, it is by no means always that way, except in the poet's idea of destiny, presented here.
It is wonderful to think of a utopian promise, but more realistic to see life as a life-and-death struggle with a few moments of ecstasy.

A delightful tale with a moral to it, but I still hold on to the faith that one day all mankind will be able to live peacefully and show respect for neighbors...

Great contrast between bad times and good. I, too, look forward to a day when things will be better for all.
