Through The Storm by Robert P. Robertson (Book) - 5/18/2008 4:48:38 AM
'Through the Storm' is a page turner from the word go: I could not put it down. If the reader wants to know what it was like during and after Hurricane Katrina, read this book: it pulls no punches. This is as close to terrified as I want to get...excellent read. Karla Dorman.

Through The Storm by Robert P. Robertson (Article) - 6/10/2008 4:36:10 PM
On August 29, 2005, hurricane Katrina made landfall on the Gulf Coast of America and impacted the southern regions of four States: Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Millions of lives were affected, and millions more were horribly neglected and displaced across America. One family refused to evacuate and survived the disaster in their storm ravaged, flood drenched, Ninth Ward home. THROUGH THE STORM is their story, an inspirational, touching, and often hilarious, true account of courageous survival and faith. We've read all of the accounts arising from hurricane Katrina that were written by journalists; picture books depicting the scope of the devastation; saw the heartwrenching footage on the news. Not one has told of those who actually braved the storm and the flood; not one tells of true survivors who lived through the historical disaster in the hardest hit section of the city and survived it from their own resourcefulness and strength--- not just a few days, but for and incredible two weeks! This book is the story of a strong father, a mother who was seven months pregnant, and four young children, describing inb graphic detail what they felt and what they did to survive. THROUGH THE STORM is a must-read for anyone who would like to know what it was really like to endure a deadly, historical event and resolve to survive it. A poignant testament to human bravery in the face of overwhelming odds.

I cannot imagine what it must have been like, Robert - this comes as close as I want to get. WOW. Compelling introduction - would like to read more. Soon as I get some extra money, I'm ordering this book (on fixed income). (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I have read many, many books about Katrina. The closest I've read is Heart Like Water by Joshua Clark and 1 Dead in Attic, by Chris Rose. Both were there. Having lived near New Orleans, this is a subject close to my heart...have written many poems about Katrina. I would like to read this book. (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
