The Last Supper (Short Story) - 7/18/2003 12:04:28 PM|
Ahhh...two old men having what proves to be their last conversation...in the diner, a familiar setting where they've shared so many moments. Twilight hour, the sun setting on them both, and although they can read each other so well, it is sad to know what goes loudly unsaid between them. A good steak, a bit of arousal in an octegenarian, and then...Is that all there is to one's life? this reader ponders....
The ending needs fleshing out somehow-it's rather abrupt. What else does Mel wonder or think...
Tight dialog and believable characters...At once somber and playful-A good read. Thanks.
