Our Children's Milestones (Short Story) - 1/19/2009 9:10:06 PM|
Yes, this is so true. I have three children. My first was at a young age and I was into teaching and competing my child into adulthood way before he should have. He talked at a five year old language when he was two. This was ridiculous and I didn't even know it until my second child didn't talk at all until 2. With her, she was super fast and she was grown before I knew it. Now, with my third, I don't even want to try to help him through milestones. I want him to be perfectly ready for anything and then I will guide. I want him to be a baby. This too, is selfish of me. Parents don't see this. America is all about who has what, how much it costs and who won. I agree with you. Children teach you the most in your lifetime. You don't even start learning and understanding until you have a child to listen to...ah, did I say listen? Yes I did! We as parents should listen and see through their eyes like you said. I love what you wrote, Shea. Your daughter will always be the masterpiece in your world no matter age she did what. Parents need to appreciate what they created, not what that creation can do FOR them. I hope you and your daughter are well and remain close friends for life. She deserves a mommy like you, one who understands the world around her. She will grow up much stronger and won't ever need to compete for anything....because you love her.

An ocean write I am glad I did not miss. I love the peacefullness of the ocean. It is so intriguing and ships go on it and people travel far and wide on it but it is always there for us to enjoy and relate to. I am an ocean lover of course.

Interestingly expressed...to expose oneself can at times leave the vulnerable side to be disected by the many who are waiting to see who we really are...
