Why Does a Good God Send People to Hell? (Religious) (Short Story) - 4/19/2011 6:57:40 PM
The study of theology, as it stands in the Christian churches, is the study of nothing; it is founded on nothing; it rests on no principles; it proceeds by no authority; it has no data; it can demonstrate nothing; and it admits of no conclusionAll national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian, or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit. --Thomas Paine, The Age of Reason

Why Does a Good God Send People to Hell? (Religious) (Short Story) - 3/20/2010 2:56:18 PM
You think you are asking for a scripture verse, but you are not. You are asking for an extensive study of scriptures. Below I have outlined some scriptures and a short study that may help answer your questions. It is not an easy study but well, it is the best I can do to answer your questions. Lucifer is Latin (from the words lucem ferre), literally meaning "light-bearer" or Day Star. Isaiah 14: 12 Lucifer is called Sun of the Morning translate word Lucifer as Day Star. Verse 13 Lucifer determines to ...ascend into heaven and to exalt my throne above the stars of God and to sit upon the mount of the congregation (which is Gods throne). Verse 14 Lucifer determines to ascend above the heights of the clouds and to be like the most High. Ezekiel 28 (Here speaking to the Prince of Tyrus the devel as it relates to his work with the nation of Tarshish. (vrs 1-10 after the fall / vrs 11-19 before the fall) Lucifer called the anointed cherub that covereth and O covering cherub. This is not an earthly king, as the word "cherub" is only used in references to angels.) 13Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God (the Earthly King of Tarshish was not in Edon Lucifer was); every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. 14Thou art the anointed cherub (an angle consecrate or make sacred for the service of God) that covereth; and I have set thee so (God made him so): thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 15Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created (he was created perfect), till iniquity was found in thee (he did this to himself). 16By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God (out of Heaven): and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. 17Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty (God does not lightly call anyone beautiful), thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness (by reason of his brightness, Lucifer reasoned this is that part of my article where I said that he said something like of course exactly what he said in his heart, the exact words and to whom, is unknown): I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Other terms identified with Satan include "the prince of this world" (note the term prince and of this world) in the John 12:31, 14:30; "the prince of the power of the air" (again prince is used) also called Meririm, and "the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience" in the Ephesians 2:2; and "the god of this world" in 2 Corinthians 4:4. (As Satan is the god of this world, I make my case of Satans control over the Earth in my article.) The below portion copied form Wikipedia on Satan. It says it as plainly as anything else I have read. Note the part about inference. I have underlined that point. Thats because you asked for a specific quote, and there is none. It is reasoned, soundly I think, by an extensive study of the Bible from Genesis to Revelations both old and new Testaments: In mainstream Christianity's understanding of the holy Hebrew scriptures, the Torah, Satan is a synonym for the Devil. For most Christians, he is believed to be an angel who rebelled against Godand also the one who spoke through the serpent and seduced Eve into disobeying God's command. His ultimate goal is to lead people away from the love of God to lead them to fallacies which God opposes. Satan is also identified as the accuser of Job, the tempter in the Gospels, the secret power of lawlessness in 2 Thessalonians 2:7, and the dragon in the Book of Revelation. Before his insurrection, Satan was among the highest of all angels and the brightest in the sky. His pride is considered a reason why he would not bow to God as all other angels did, but sought to rule heaven himself. The popularly held beliefs that Satan was once a prideful angel who eventually rebels against God, however, are barely portrayed explicitly in the Bible and are mostly based on inference (e.g., Ezekiel 28). In mainstream Christianity he is called "the ruler of the demons" (Matt. 12:24), "the ruler of the world" and "the god of this world". (2 Cor. 4:4). The Book of Revelation describes how Satan will be cast out of Heaven, down to the earth, having "great anger" and waging war against "those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus". Ultimately, Satan is thrown into the "lake of fire" (Revelation 20:10), not as ruler, but as one among many, being tormented day and night for all eternity. This should get you started. There is much, much more.

Why Does a Good God Send People to Hell? (Religious) (Short Story) - 3/20/2010 3:27:47 AM
March 22, 2010 Hello Paul, I'm very sorry, but was the question too hard for you. I just want you to point out to me where in the bible does it say all the things that you said about what took place when these angels rebelled against God. You begin your explanation with a verse from the book of Isaiah chapter 14. Paul, the rest of the world knows that this chapter is about the King of Babylon and has nothing to do with your mythological creature called Satan. You mentioned that you've been to Wikipedia, please look up the word Satan and you will see a great explanation of how this word is actually an adjective and not a noun. Also, I'm sure that you very well know that there is only one God - and we know that because there are so many references to this statement being made: 2 Samuel 7:22, 1 Kings 8:60, Deuteronomy 32:39, Isaiah 44:6 and on and on... Paul, if there is only one God that is the god of heaven and the earth, then how can there be another little god running around causing havoc. Paul, I believe that you need to learn about the word Satan and found out what it means. I have a great link for you that will give you a great explanation about the history of Satan and how the name came to mean the god of this world This will get you started. Please reply after you have gone out and done some research about the origin of the word Satan and also is there one god or more than one god. Thanks for replying so quick, but take your take for the next reply. You are right, there is so much more information to give you but just not enough time right now. I hope that I continue to hear from you for many years to come. Hi Paul, I just read your review and I must say that you are a great fiction writer. The story that you've created is right out of a Hollywood movie. Can I ask you one question, where did you find the following information that you posted: "This is what took place. Now, there was this angel - the Angel of Light, the most perfectly beautiful of all the angels, who said in his heart, then to other angels, something like... "If God is perfect, than He created us perfect. So since, we are perfect, we need no God. We do not need His laws - we can have our own laws and make them according to our perfect judgment." In this way, he thought himself to be equal with God who had created him. He caused one-third of the angels to follow him in a rebellion against God and lost. He was cast out of heaven and was caused to live in a place called the firmament. Thus was the fall of one third of the angels. This angel, now called Satan, hated God and set in his heart (since he failed at taking God's throne) that he would hurt God in the worst possible way. He would destroy - steal away - God's most beloved possession...mankind." I know that I've read the Bible and I continue to read it, but I just can't seem to find the story that you've concocted. Are you sure that you're not quoting from another book called "The Book of Enoch"? which is not a scriptural book. By the way, I'm not one of those people that want to kick against it or even hate it. However, I am one of those people that likes to set things straight. Just for the record, where exactly did you find the following quote that you made: ""Now, there was this angel - the Angel of Light, the most perfectly beautiful of all the angels, who said in his heart, then to other angels, something like... "If God is perfect, than He created us perfect. So since, we are perfect, we need no God." Hope to hear from you soon.

A Funny Name For a Cat (Humor) (Short Story) - 2/25/2009 12:43:32 AM
Very good story. One line stopped me though .What are you going on about? I asked.. It's so unusual sentence. If it stops other readers too, may be change to "What are talking about?" or something else. It's not good to make the reader reread the line.

Werewolf Made (Horror/SciFi) (Short Story) - 10/8/2008 12:51:38 AM
I thought this was a good story, the description was first rate, and i was always dreading the fact near the end that carolyn might have already been turned into a werewolf and that she was going to kill the main charcater at the end but was relieved when this didnt happen, i also found the plot a bit formulaic and dull but the writing kept my interest, thanks for the read and if you get the chance please check out and even leave a review for my story 'a long way to fall' by zahid zaman best zahid zaman

Why Does a Good God Send People to Hell? (Article) - 5/31/2011 1:57:20 PM
Mr. Kogel would have us believe that an infinitely good, infinitely wise, and infinitely merciful God would create us only to then judge us and cast some of into hell knowing in advance that was what was going to happen--even before He created us. And, presuming to speak for all Christians, Kogel concludes "it is beautiful, wonderful, and so very marvelous." How pathetic can one person's thinking get?

Peter's Commentary on the Christian Walk (Article) - 10/9/2010 7:10:23 AM
Cynthia, Yes I agree. I don't think that Peter is saying we shouldn't get involved in politics. He is saying, instead, we should take Christ, our faith and what we have learned from His Word with us into all arenas of life. I think that was the whole point - do not, leave our faith out of these things, but take Him with us and do His will in all things. Those who are giving Christianity a bad name are doing so by leaving Him out of their decision-making and thereby acting in the same way a nonbeliever would act. Then once proclaiming his faith, that person will quickly be marked a hypocrite and rightly so.

McChrystal Had to Go (Article) - 6/23/2010 1:40:05 PM
I don't think that can happen, Mark. I agree, it would be interesting and probably good for the country in the end, but I think he would have to retire first. As long as he is in active duty, he his bound to his Commander-In-Chief.

McChrystal Had to Go (Article) - 6/23/2010 12:59:05 PM
My, God, Paul, I could not agree with you more! Now I'm hoping that, after an approprate period of time, McChrystal hits the lecture circit telling the American people what he really thinks of this know nothing, pretend president and his, let's re-make America congress. Mark

Obama's Government Take Over's and Such (Article) - 7/31/2009 2:04:28 PM
A one-term administration that is bringing our great nation to ruin.

Obama's Government Take Over's and Such (Article) - 7/30/2009 3:41:12 PM
Paul, I so agree with all that you say. I never had the slightest amount of faith in Obama and the more I see and hear of him and his, in my opinion, politically evil cohorts, the less I have and the more fear I have for the future of my country. As far as Republicans go, as I stated in my poem: Sara Palin, A Real Lady, after continual requests for donations from and for both National and State, the only money I contribute in the future is for and to Sarah. Thank you for a great article, Mark.

Obama's Government Take Over's and Such (Article) - 7/30/2009 2:15:51 AM
We stood by and let them ban God from our schools, courts, businesses, governement, media, and daily lives. The name God is now only tolerated if you are attacking or mocking him. Hence, we are no longer one nation under God with God given rights. This Obama hates America and Americans and the American way of life. It's like Israel electing a Jew hating Nazi to run their government. We are now facing the sama holocust Russia experienced in thirties. The majory of people in this country have elected Stalin and now we are all going to pay the price big time. Be it death by regiolnal famines, revolution or civil war, death is on the march and Obama is the leader of the band. God help us!

Economic Crisis (Article) - 7/28/2009 3:53:35 PM
PAUL - WELL DONE! I've watched several Documentaries, which explicitly confirm this scenario. although I may stand 'corrected' by you - does not Robert Williams below state essentially what I wrote in my 'Crooks In Congress? In fact, he MERGES the two parties together as 'Demo-publican. "If you remember since 1989, Daddy Bush declared a "New World Order", then it's rather easy to see our Democrats and Republicans as two sides of the same corportist coin, just as Labour and Tories have shown themselves to be the same in Britain. Our one-party, Demo-publican Party system serves the power elite well, to everyone's detriment." Since, FDR - a Republican, the best thing that ever happened to America - it has all been DOWNHILL since! 64 YEARS of DEMS/REPS ... all controlled by CORPS.! Peace - Tom.

Yet Another Email From My Brother (Article) - 5/30/2009 12:06:46 PM
When I read this, I know why America is no longer great. And it's nothing to do with Obama, but rather the bitterness and delusions of right wing (defeated) America. Hopefully Obama is the cure.

Yet Another Email From My Brother (Article) - 5/29/2009 11:24:43 AM
People read this and think of it as a fairy tale and laugh-but it is the truth, perhaps told in a humorous way. Those that voted this administration into office cannot yet see the damage they have caused. They cannot see or better yet will not see America is on the road to destruction and there is little that can be done at this point. It will take an utter and complete downfall of this country before they admit their mistake and by then all will be lost. What is wrong with people? Can't they see that the idiots are running the asylum? Can't they look at Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Waxman, Murtha, Shumer, Biden, and the rest of those goons and figure out that we are in trouble? What does it take to open their eyes?

Faith vs Faith (Article) - 5/26/2009 12:38:34 PM
You are a very funny man, Keith. You really should consider a career in comedy. When it comes to the science’s you mention, some of which we no longer ‘believe’ in but ‘know’ about, of course we Christians accept these things. I see that you have completely (purposely, I think) missed my point. By the way, the appendix thing you mentioned shows that you really need to do some more research. They have discovered that the appendix was a necessary organ in the development of that thing you like to call a fetus. This is why I mentioned science makes mistakes. If they look around long enough, maybe they will continue to find God’s handiwork just as they have here. I have no idea about giraffe necks, but since you have so little true understanding of the appendix thing, I don’t think it wise to accept your explanation about giraffes. Expanding universe? So what? What does that prove? Science? Hardly. No, only that science has discovered this fact. You say, “So this proves the big bang, or at least provides some evidence of it.” I say, “So God made it that way. It was the method he used to make it happen.” How is your answer any more scientific than mine? It’s not. It’s called faith. I say, “If there was a big bang, God made it happen.” You say, “If there was a big bang, it happened by accident.” Who is right? By the way, “science” should really rename this so-called event, because the name itself is against what we know from science. You see, if there was just a vast empty vacuum of outer space and somehow an explosion happened – there would be no bang. There is no sound in outer space. Also, you said that science freely admits that the concept of a state preceding the big bang is difficult – that’s where you are wrong – it is not difficult at all, it is impossible scientifically. But you believe it. Hum - sounds like blind faith to me. You, as every Christian hater I have ever met, like to say that religion has given us wars. First of all, we’re not talking about ‘religion’. We are talking about God, science and Christian religion – not “Religion” covering other types of religion. But since you brought it up, do you really think that “War” is caused by Christianity? You will, no doubt point first to the Crusades. Fine, you’re right. There were other battles fought as well. Many more however, in regards to Christians, were attacks against Christians and Christianity. And what about all the other wars in the world? Were any of these fought over something other than Christianity? Of course they were. Most wars have been fought over territory, greed, natural resources, man’s lust for power, etc. But, you worshipers of Science like to point to those caused by Christianity. Why? Because you hate Christians, probably because they call out your god Science. And it is also worth noting that if it wasn’t for science providing the destructive tools of war, we would still be fighting with sticks and stones instead of weapons of mass destruction. Finally, I hate to break it to you, but science has NOT disproved what you call, the creation myth. What it has done over the years, however, is prove that along with its many wonderful and useful discoveries, it has also developed a belief system that God haters love to worship. They have created their own god called “Science” which they fervently, jealously and fanatically display an admirable grand measure of blind faith. Accept for the many scientists that do, in fact, believe in God, of course. There are many, just not as many. Thank you, Keith, for commenting on my article and for quite nicely proving my point.

Faith vs Faith (Article) - 5/26/2009 12:44:47 AM
I disagree. Without science we'd still be throwing bones instead of transplanting organs, and walking instead of flying. Without science, you and I would probably not be alive - how many times has science saved your life? Who do you go to see when you're ill: A doctor or a faith healer? As for origins of species, and the proof for evolution, think of your appendix, or the routing of arteries through a giraffe's neck in completely senseless ways - is this design?!!!. Like many religious people, you deny science even whilst benefiting from its bounty. With respect to cosmic origins, science freely admits that the concept of a state preceding the Big Bang is difficult, as time itself unfolds as a function of space. And yes - science has proved the universal expansion again and again and again. Try and open your mind a little and conceive of four dimensional space-time unwrapping in a five-dimensional envelope - that's the best way to conceive of space as expanding at every point. And here's the rub: science has METHOD. It's hardly surprising that many scientific hypotheses have proven incorrect - that's exactly what happens when humans exercise their minds and speculate intelligently. The theories that do prove correct give us medicine, space flight, and insights into the nature of reality. Without it we'd still be living on a flat earth praising Zeus or Jehovah or some other fictitious being amid the squalor of our all too brief and sordid lives. Religion on the other hand has given us war, strife, division and the concept of ignorance as a virtue. FYI I am a somewhat spiritual person, but I do not permit this to interfere with my rational faculties, as do all too many religious folk. Final thought - it is SCIENCE THAT DISPROVES FALSE THEORIES - SUCH AS CREATION MYTHS, STATIC UNIVERSE THEORIES, VENUSIAN CANALS, ETERNAL AND UNCHANGING HEAVENS, FAITH HEALING AND GENERAL QUACKERY,AND SO MUCH MORE. Hood luck with the faith healers!

When Obama Speaks - People Listen. But do they hear? (Article) - 5/13/2009 1:19:08 PM
It never ceases to amaze me how Obama can stand up and lie to the people and they believe him. Am I the only one to see the truth and know this man is telling another lie? He isn't that great an orator in my estimation-I've heard better many times. He can't speak without a teleprompter-anybody can read! So the question remains-what is it he has-the only thing remaining is race-don't think it is that. He has the press in his back pocket along with the ignorant and the uninformed and the diehard Democrats. Now we are on to something--do we have that many ignorant, uninformed and diehard Democrats in this nation who have banded together to make Obama's following? Then the remainder of the folks should be the informed, intelligent, Republican, conservative, Independent and other parties. It should be a cinch to get Obama thrown out of office in 2012-everything is in our favor. What do you say folks? Lets get rid of as many of these Democrats as we can in 2010 and 2012.

When Obama Speaks - People Listen. But do they hear? (Article) - 5/11/2009 12:54:44 PM
The Messiah speaks and the uninformned listen, and, as you say "fawn." Democrats do not hear! Democrats will not allow their minds to accept the fact that they elected a man that, quite possibly, may mean the end of America as you and I know it. Democrats heads are set in concrete and buried in the sand. God help America, and our children. Mark Lichterman

Of course Obama was in charge. How do I know that for sure? If the Navy Seals had been in charge like they should have we would have had four dead bastards. Like it was, there was a liberal in the woodpile-one of the pirates is still alive. I thought we didn't negotiate with terriosts!

You are right in a way, Paul. However, that's not the way it works. You see Obama can do no wrong. Just ask the media. In particualar how about that CNN reporter who attacked the Tax protestor and his kid. How dare you people critize OUR government.
