A chill scurried like a spider up my spine as I turned and glanced behind me.

A chill scurried like a spider up my spine as I turned and glanced behind me. In the shadows I saw his silhouette staring back at me. Could this be? There is no way he found me after I had covered my tracks so well. He truly is the amazing tracker everyone says he is. I just wish I wasn't his prey. Looking around I tried to find some way of escape, something to hide me or help me get away quickly. But that's the thing about alleyways, there really is no way out of it.

He started moving closer to me, still trying to hide within the shadows. A game he prefers to play with his prey. He knows I see him but he plays off of my fear of what he is going to do. As he gets closer to me I began to panic, looking every direction I can for a way out. I turn around and began to ran the direction I was heading. I hear his footsteps behind me grow louder and louder until I feel his arm around my waist.

"Where do you think you are going? Do you actually think you can get away from me? No matter how much you try to get me off of your trail I will always be able to find you." Eli whispers into my ear.

"I don't know why you can't just let me be. I want to be free and live what is left of my life in peace." I say as I struggle within his grip.

"Coronado has requested your company back in Spain. I suggest you just accept your fate and come in peace. If you struggle anymore my grip will only tighten."

"Oh so your Coronado's lap dog huh? I remember you telling me a long time ago that you worked for no one but yourself. He certainly has a way with words if he could tame the infamous Eli."

"Hold your tongue I am no one's lap dog. I am doing this on my own accord. I wanted to be the one to find you first before they did. Rose, you have no idea what these men could do to you. You are lucky that I came instead of them."

"Oh so your showing me some kind of sympathy? Eli, those days are over. We can never be together like we were before this all happened. You see all of this as a blessing and I feel like I am cursed. I have hunger inside me that is so strong and unbearable but I fight to tame it. I did not want this, I do not want to spend an eternity walking the earth as all my family and friends die way before me."

"Rose you can't do this. I love you more than anything in this world that is why we did this, so we could be together forever." Eli says as he loosens his grip around my waist.

"This is not what I meant forever to mean. I wanted us to grow old together watching our children and grandchildren grow up. I still love you Eli and nothing will ever change that but I want to be at peace. I don't want this life anymore. If you truly loved me you would see the pain it causes me. Help me out of this please or let me go to do it myself."

I looked into his eyes as I stroked his long beautiful black hair. He truly is even more beautiful with this curse than he was before. Eli closes his eyes and leans forward. I feel his teeth sink into my neck. I embrace him and hold him tight as he drains the blood from my body.
