In the midst of all the turmoil we sometimes forget just how great we have it. Always keep your eyes focused on the Lord Jesus and all that he does for you.

It's a cold Chicago morning and wouldn't you know, my truck is in the shop.  But it really doesn't matter, I could use the walk.  I'll just dress in layers to keep as warm as I can be.  So I start my journey, leaving the warmth of my home.  Before you know it the cold wind begins to cut me to the bone.  I'll take the alley, although it's dangerous in this part of town, it will save some time.  As I round the corner to the alley, I see something that looks like money that had been wadded up and thrown down.  I picked it up and to my surprise, it was 4 one hundred dollar bills.  I'm feeling pretty happy by now for this will pay for my truck.  I continue on down the alley and there on the right, I see a large box with a man inside.  He appears to be sleeping and I don't want to wake him up if he can sleep and stay warm in this cold.  But I begin to wonder if he is alive, I have to know so I look to see if I can see any signs of life from inside.  Suddenly he awakes and says, why are you staring at me.  Oh, I'm not sir, I just wanted to see if you were alright.  He stuck out his hand and with a halfway grin, said my name is Tom, what's yours young man.  I told him my name was Daniel, as he leaned against the wall to help him stand.  Tom, I said, you look so weak. Yes Daniel, I haven't had much to eat.  I was just on my way to get some breakfast, would you care to join me.  Yes I would but I have no money.  That's alright Tom, I have enough for both of us and then some.  The waitress brought us out some pork chops and eggs.  Tom clasped his hands and began to pray.  Thank you Lord Jesus for this beautiful day, and thank you for bringing Daniel my way.  Thank you Lord for all that you do, help me Lord to glorify you.  Thank you Lord for my new friend, even though we may never meet again.  His prayer touched my heart with such a compassionate warmth.  We sat there and talked for awhile.  I said, Tom that coat doesn't look like it would be that warm.  Yes, but it is the only one I have, so it will do for now.  Tom, just before I met you, there in the alley I found 4 hundred dollars on the ground.  We will go out and buy you the best coat in town.  We'll get one that goes all the way to the ground.  Tom stood aout 3 or 4 inches taller than me, and as I looked up tears were streaming down his cheeks.  I said Tom are you ok.  Yes my friend, just another prayer the almighty has answered.  All glory be to Jesus, he said.  Tom sure looked good in that new coat and shoes, and a little money in his pocket for food.  I never felt better than helping this man of Jesus.  A feeling no amount of money could ever bring.  By doing the work of our Lord Jesus Christ and helping people that are down and out, to me that is what life is all about.  A couple of days later the repair shop called and said that my truck was ready and it runs like new.  Good, I replied, I will be there as soon as I can.  When I got to the repair shop I went to the window.  The man had my keys with a note attached to see the head mechanic before picking up the truck.  They called for the mechanic and he said to me, let's walk over to the truck there is something I want to show you.  I was thinking the worst as we were walking.  The hood was opened and he pointed to a long wire.  Do you know what that wire is, he asked.  I replied, yes, it is the coil wire.  He said, you see, this is the only thing that was wrong with your truck.  This wire had come loose and I just had to plug it back in.  So, son, I guess this is your lucky day, because there is no charge for this repair.  I couldn't believe what I was hearing.  I knew what God was doing.  I was thinking praise be to Jesus.  The mechanic said to me, if your vehicle ever breaks down again would you consider using us?  I said, yes I will without a doubt, and thank you so much for helping me out.  I still think about Tom, this man in the box, and how he praised Jesus for what he had.  As long as you have the Lord Jesus, you have everything.

Very nice Daniel, if only we could all find the courage to walk in the light of the Glory of God, and to really let his love shine through us like you did in your story.

What a wonderful story! These verses come to mind:
"If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone."
James 2:15-17 (King James Version)
Your faith is very much alive.
Susan
