This is one of my shorts that are in a category that I call Untold Stories. I hope you enjoy it :)

The old man sat, a cup of coffee in his hand that shook on it's way to his trembling lips...

His eyes still misty, I could see that he had been crying, and it saddened my heart. I pasted on my brightest smile and offered him a warm up and a shoulder to lean on...

His voice broke, as he refused my offer and he lowered his eyes back to his cup.

I watched as he laid a dollar and a two bit piece on the table, got up and shuffled to the door...

He turned, tipped his hat, and tried to muster up a smile. I smiled back and said, goodnight hon.

I watched the door, night after night, but his frail, little gray-haired body, never graced it again...

Every face has a story to tell, and I am sure that he had many untold stories, but this one I had to tell.
