Learning life-lessons never stops...

I moved the flawed crystal into the sun streaming through the window. And felt tears sting my eyes. I thought back to when I met Emraude.

It was on a Solitaire gaming site. There were a few excellent players who constantly posted the highest scores. On the message board, Emraude was always helpful and sweet natured.

I had made a big splash myself, posting little stories and happily joking with everyone, many more people posted, and I was learning to play the games better. Emraude was too good to beat. I began to feel jealous.

Emraude had a web site, and I went to check her out. She was gorgeous! And her family was rich! She didnít have to worry about buying credits with a credit card.

In a fit of pique, I posted some hurtful things, being senselessly mean, and we fought. For more than a week, Emraude didnít post or play.

One night, there was a post from her sister saying Emraude was terribly sick, again, but wanted to say hello to her friends and let them know she was fighting her stomach cancer. She sent a warm 'hi' to Geminthemoon.

Thatís me.

Her real name is Crystal.

Though, short, this is powerful writing, Erin. Petty fighting and jealousy seems damn useless in the face of friendship.
Thanks for sharing.

loved the detached feel of this write, and yet the emotion churning directly beneath was imminently experienced through description and implication ... your writing contains depths, and always, a lesson.

Very good write. You tackle the hardest challenge a writer can know; exposing your heart in your writings to a too-rough world.

This indeed is the gift of vision. It grabs the reader and takes them to the time and place your words are painting. I am in awe of your ability to communicate.

Thank you for sharing that gift with us

You have the gift of vision, Erin. It's something not every writer has. Some can write things we enjoy at the moment, then quickly forget. But not you. You make the reader 'feel' and live the moment, and immediately understand it in terms of his/her own experience. A priceless talent. Keep writing, please!

Carmen :-)
