A family and home vanish one cool dark Halloween night.

It was a cool, crisp October morning in the mountains of Virginia. Lisa had just awaken from a good nights sleep to find no one else had woken up yet. Lisa took advantage of this morning by making her coffee and having it outside on her deck overlooking the beauty of the mountains she had come to love so much.

As she sat there she wondered how she could make this the best Halloween her four children had ever seen. Lisa completed her list and decided to go shopping for the supplies she would need to give her children a scary but fun Halloween.

Lisa brought a Ouija board just for fun as well as some chains and scary Halloween music to play. The CD had sounds of rain, thunder and lighting. Screaming men, women and babies. Among other sounds of horror. Candles will be lit for added fun and surprises she thought.

Once home, she decorated everything and anything she could think of. Everything was in place and ready to go that evening when it turned dark.

Lisa's husband and four children were up and everyday activities went as planned. Then night fell. Lisa and her family had no clue what was in store for them this Halloween night.

When you live in the mountains you never get trick-or-treaters, and very rarely do you get visitors. Or do you?

Lisa summoned her two daughters, Sharon and Sarah, to the living room. She began telling them of a game she wanted to play with a Ouija board. After all she would need help scaring her husband C.T. and sons, Joe and Christian. The girls were getting excited to be allowed to pull a stunt on their father and brothers.

Sarah called her father to the living room, " yes, honey what do you need," he replied." Daddy, I thought I heard something outside", she replied. "That's not possible, Sarah, we are to far into the hills to have visitors, but I will check it out to make you happy," he replied. C.T. went outdoors and found nothing, but as he turned he heard a scream that sent chills up his spine. Upon returning inside he did not say a word to anyone about what he had heard.

Sharon and Sarah both snickered among themselves, they knew their mother had pulled something due to the unspoken worried look on their fathers face. Had their mother pulled it off?

Sharon told her mom it must have worked. "What must have worked," he mother asked. "Scaring dad the way you did," Sarah replied. Their mother said, "I didn't do anything, yet." At that point they were shocked.

Thirty minutes later the Ouija board was brought out and set up to hold a seance. The candles were lit but were blown out as fast as they were lit. Lisa had no idea what was happening, she figured there had to be a draft someplace near to her.

Joe, the oldest son, was upstairs getting ready to come down and join the family, as he turned to walk out of his bedroom, he caught a glimpse of something behind him. It was almost like a shadow, he brushed it off as being in his mind and continued downstairs.

There was a knock at the back door, Sharon decided to go see who was there. When she opened the door, she was surprised to see no one was there. The knock had been so loud, maybe someone was playing a game with her. No that couldn't be it, she thought to herself, everyone's here. Sharon told her mother what had just happened. They looked at each other in disbelief because Lisa had heard it, too.

The family gathered around the table and started to hold hands, when all of a sudden the doors swung open and the wind blew so hard that the pictures were blown right off the walls.

Christian the youngest started to cry, "mommy whats happening?" he asked. "I don't know, son, but I'm going to find out," she replied. Lisa stood up and walked toward the door to close it, as she got closer a voice started talking louder and louder. "Stop this game you are about to play, bad things will only come your way," the voice stated. The voice continued until Lisa shut the door and then silence be stilled the room.

When Lisa sat back down at the table. Joseph told his parents what had happened upstairs just before he had come down to join them. "Mom, maybe we should not be doing this," said Sarah. "Maybe you are right, sweetie, we should stop," Lisa stated.

Everyone but Lisa turned in for the night. Instead she walked outside down to the pond they had built the year before trying to figure out what had happened tonight. As she turned around there stood in front of her a shadowy figure. " What do you want?" she asked. The figure said nothing, only pointed toward her house.

Lisa started to worry and took off running toward her house. Was her family alright? Did something happen to them? What was the figure trying to tell her?

As she rounded the corner to her house there stood nothing but any empty hole in the ground. The house was gone and so was her family, they were no where to be found.

What had she done? Where was her family? Why did her house disappear into the ground? Was this real or a bad dream? No one really knows, only those in the after life know what really happened one dark Halloween night in the mountains of Virginia.
