Susie Jackson once again picks up her diary to write of yet another stunning turn of events!

Dear Diary,

As I write this, tears are streaming down my cheeks, and my heart is gripped with fear. I fear Lacey is dead. Our captors took her from the cellar yesterday, claiming she needed to go to the doctor, which she did, Lacey has been very sick since we got here. They took her yesterday, and have not returned her to us yet. I think they killed her and probably disposed of her body  because they did not want anyone to know she was sick and did not want to be blamed for her murder. I don't know what I am going to do. Maria keeps asking me about her and I know she will not always believe that her sister just left for a little while. She is going to realize Lacey is gone forever. I just hope she does not give up hope.

I have not received another letter from Ronee, she probably thinks I don't want to be her friend and has given up on me. I wish there was some way to get a message out to her, let her know what was going on. I wish I could get a message out to someone. I don't see how we can be rescued otherwise. I have got to think of something. I don't want Maria and I to die in this dark, lonely cellar.

I have to go now. Maria is waking up and I need to get myself back together, stop crying, so she will not get upset.
