April 1972
Robert unlocked the door and began descending the stairs, continuing along the passage at the bottom.
Stopping by a closed door, he opened it and entered, glancing through the window at the interrogation room where Hannah was sitting. “Is she going to be alright?”
Standing near the far wall, Linda Vincent looked across at him. “Why not go in and ask her yourself?”
Heading back into the passage, Robert entered the interrogation room and approached the table that Hannah was sitting behind. “How are you feeling?”
Hannah turned her head to look at him, “Are you going to start giving me some straight answers?”
Sitting down opposite her, Robert clasped his fingers together. “Where do you want me to begin?”
“That thing, it looked like Mia.” She leaned forward, “What was it?”
“It was your roommate.” Robert stood up and turned towards the mirror on the wall, “She’s become a Strigoi.”
“I don’t understand any of this.” Hannah leaned back in the chair, “Give me a straight answer and tell me what is really happening.”
Robert returned to the chair and leaned against the back of it, “We believe that Mia was turned by another Strigoi called Billy Lawson, we’ve been after him since 1958.”
“Who’s this we?”
“The Trust.” Robert began to gently smile, “Don’t worry, we are the good guys.” He sat down again, “Okay, our information suggests that Mia was snatched from Highgate Drive.”
Hannah nodded, “She must have just left the dentist’s.” She paused for a moment, “I was there myself yesterday.”
Robert leaned in closer, “Before Mia attacked you?”
She nodded, but remained silent.
“That’s interesting.” Robert smiled again, “Do you want to come with me?”
Picking the lock to the dentist’s surgery, Robert pushed the door open and stepped inside.
Following him, Hannah stopped by a closed door and turned the handle as he continued towards the reception room.
Turning on the light to the surgery, she screamed when she saw Emily’s body stretched out on the dentist’s chair, a large gash across her throat.
