Almost dragged by Samantha through the dining room door, Viki watched through the glass as the moths swarmed from the vent and covered Claire’s unmoving body. She stood there transfixed by the sight, blood beginning to stain the carpet beneath Claire.

Stepping back from the closed door, Viki turned away when the moths exposed the bloodied skeletal remains of Claire’s body. “I hope she didn’t feel any of that.”
Angelina could not bring herself to look inside the dining room, “Shouldn’t one of us go and tell the others that she’s gone.”
Samantha looked at the two women, “I’ll do it.”
Anger appeared on Viki’s face, “I hope you’ll tell them it was your fault she’s dead.” She took a few steps towards Samantha, “We could have got her out of there if you had helped instead of pulling me out. I could have saved her.”
“Perhaps I should have left you in there with our late friend.” There was a equal amount of anger in Samantha’s response.
Angelina stepped between them before they came to blows, “Cut it out.” She focused on Samantha, “I think you should go and tell the others.”
Backing away, Samantha paused before turning towards the stairs. “This won’t take me long.”
Watching Samantha reach the stairs and begin going up, Viki approached one of the chairs in the lobby and collapsed into it, looking up at Angelina. “I’m really not liking her.”

Reaching the third floor of the hotel, Samantha stopped when she saw Christian shoving another thick blanket into the ventilation duct.
She remained standing just out of sight until he had finished and was beginning to walk away. Moving from her position, she watched him disappear round the corner at the far end of the passage.
Approaching the still open duct, she glanced round just to make sure no one was watching her before she reached inside. Grabbing the blanket, she pulled it out.
“Hey, what the Hell do you think you’re doing.”
She turned to see Christian returning from round the corner, deciding to tell him the entire truth. “This body is getting weak. I need my moths to nourish me.”
His confusion was explicit in his voice, “Your moths?” The sound of the flapping wings getting louder stopped him from continuing.
The instant he saw the moths surging out through the duct, Christian set off running in the opposite direction.
Trying each of the doors he came to, he found all of them locked.
The moths swarming towards him, he felt them landing on his flesh and begin crawling under his shirt, his body almost covered entirely by them.
Flailing around the passage as the moths began biting his flesh, he stumbled and fell forward, crushing several of the moths beneath him as he stopped moving.
Stepping closer to the swarming mass of moths crawling over him, Samantha began to smile, continuing to watch as the moths stripped away his flesh.
She remained standing in front of the swarming mass until the moths were finished. Opening her mouth, she did not flinch when the moths began surging towards her, leaving the bloodied skeleton on the carpet.
Her mouth opening wider, she remained still as the moths reached her, each of them disappearing down her throat.
Feeling the last of the moths making it inside her, she closed her mouth, a smile lingering for a few moments as she felt herself getting stronger.
Turning away from what was left of Christian, she headed to the top of the stairs, hearing voices coming from the floor below.
Heading straight down, she stopped on the stairs when she saw Kenny emerging from one of the guest rooms.
“I thought you were going to tell everyone what happened to Claire.” Viki stepped out of the room behind Kenny.
Samantha looked upwards, “The moths got someone else, I couldn’t tell who.”
Approaching the stairs, Kenny glanced back at Viki. “Get back down to the lobby.” He turned and looked at Samantha, “Go with her. I’ll be down when I’ve checked this out.”
Heading up the stairs as soon as Samantha and Viki began going down, Kenny halted when he came within sight of Christian’s body.
He turned back when he heard Samantha return to the top of the stairs, “I thought I told you to go and wait in the lobby.”
Samantha smiled, but kept her distance from him. “I told your bitch to go ahead, I don’t think she likes me anyway.”
        “Listen to me.”
She interrupted him, “You know the Vishtitza isn’t just the moths, they are only part of what I am.”
Kenny saw her mouth remaining open after she had finished speaking, several of the moths crawling out over her lips.
He began running as all of them began swarming out of her mouth.
